Just a few more ;)
An Evening With
One thing we've really enjoyed about these "evening with" shows is the way we've been able to perform in a lot of towns where we don't normally play. Take Texarkana for instance. The last time we played here was back in the mid-'90's at a youth event with Clay Crosse. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure we've never done a headlining show here. Needless to say, it was great to be back!
With it being the first show of a run, we spent a good deal of time onstage this afternoon. People often ask us about soundcheck. Once we get the sound dialed in for a tour, we don't really soundcheck unless we have something specific we want to work on. Today that involved working out the intro and outro to I Got a Feeling as well as trying a different arrangement of Tunnel. Well, the new Tunnel arrangement didn't work, but we remembered how cool that song is! We've added it back to the setlist.
The show tonight was really great. We performed at First Baptist Texarkana. The church was amazingly nice to us today (and the food was AWESOME). The audience was filled to capacity, and really seemed to respond in all the right places. Besides Tunnel and the revamped I Got a Feeling, we also worked in a new version of Born Again. Adding these different songs really brought a different energy to the show.
After the show we signed autographs. This is probably the one thing different about this tour. We haven't signed autographs consistently in years. I for one had forgotten how fun and encouraging it is to get that direct feedback from people right after a show.
Well, we've got the show dialed in nicely. Here's hoping the folks in Louisiana are as good as the people in Texarkana. And here's hoping we come back to Texarkana sooner!
