The Rock And Worship Roadshow
It's not uncommon for me to start these little show blogs with a mention of some of the great memories we have of playing in a town through the years. In the case of Springfield, Missouri, I only have to look back over the last few months.
We had a great show at a little theatre downtown last fall. And a little over a month ago we flew into Springfield en route to Winter Xtreme in Branson. So flying into the airport today felt like deja vu. All over again.
Today was a pretty typical Thursday. Got up at home, got kids off to school, then drove to the airport. We were on the same flight as Jamie Grace which was cool.
One element that we didn't have those last couple times in this area was the bitter cold. To add to matters, when we arrived at the venue we found that our bus was parked on a solid sheet of ice. I am officially ready for spring.
Because of the Super Bowl we had an extra day at home. It was good to hang out in catering and catch up with other folks on the tour and see what all they've been up to.
The show tonight was great. The cold and ice didn't stop people from coming out in droves -JQH Arena at Missour State was pretty well packed. We had a really solid show - it felt like a first show back in some regards. You'd be surprised at how that one extra day at home makes you feel a bit rusty when you come back. But no matter - it was a great crowd and they really inspired us to bring our all. Mac brought it to the point that he was losing his voice by the last song or two, but that's just the level of intensity he has. It's all or nothing for Mr. Powell. Kicking and Screaming was great tonight, as was Tunnel, which was recently added back into the list. It went so well that we're thinking of featuring it a little more.
Well, we have a bit of a drive tonight. The next stop is Mobile, Alabama. Here's hoping it's a little warmer there!
