As a born and raised 'Ohioan,' I am ashamed to say this was my first visit to Cedar Point. This was not my first festival Third Day show, but it was by far my favorite. The weather was absolutely perfect (and maybe that is why I ended up with a sunburn) and the show was great. I know the summer festival shows can wear you guys out, but there was no indication from our point of view that you guys were coming off of the Beacon and another show. It was a fantastic day and I'm not just saying that because it was my birthday. Thanks for another great show, see you back in Ohio in November!!
The Miracle Tour
We have played a bunch of amusement parks in our lives, but we've never been to Cedar Point until today. After playing there, I can see why so many people love it.
Cedar Point is located in north central Ohio on a small island in Lake Erie. You don't have to look far to find water. And you don't have to look far to find fun. In our case today, the bus was literally parked right behind the stage. Beyond that were roller coasters as far as the eye can see. I'm ashamed to say I didn't ride anything today - I was a little tired from two shows and two long days of travel. So it ended up being a chill day of watching football on the bus. Both my and Mac's teams won, so we were in good spirits going into the show.
PointFest is a relatively new festival at Cedar Point. Today's lineup consisted of some great friends of ours. TobyMac headlined, and 10th Avenue North and Building 429 also shared the bill. It's always great seeing our friends perform, and it's great to hang out and catch up.
Our set tonight was incredible. A lot of energy from the crowd. And the weather was just perfect. It was a cool night with very low humidity. The moon shone down from behind the roller coasters. Sometimes I can remember a show just by the view from stage, and I think tonight was one of those nights.
We played our "festival" set, hitting on a bunch of rockers and a lot of worship as well as some ballads. I Need a Miracle felt really powerful, as did Trust in Jesus. We ended our show with Agnus Dei. It's always so humbling to hear the crowd singing as loud as the band.
As I'm writing this, we're getting prepared to watch some boxing. Boxing is fun to watch, but it always seems to start about an hour later than you want it to, and half the time the actual match doesn't live up to the hype. Here's hoping tonight will be a little different!
Thanks again Cedar Point for a great show. Here's hoping we can come back soon. I promise I'll ride some rides next time :)
