The Rock And Worship Roadshow
New year, new tour! We're so excited to be a part of the 2014 Road Show. Tonight was the first nigh of the tourt in Sacramento. We at Third Day love us some Sacramento - it's the home of two of our favorite radio stations, KLOVE and Air 1. Not to mention that a lot of great folks live there and have supported us throughout the years.
We arrived in Sacramento early this afternoon. It was a long flight, and with time changes and whatnot, we were a bit tired. We did a quick soundcheck to work on the songs and the set. We want to pack as much as possible into our time slot.
A few of us took naps after soundcheck. As for me, I spent the rest of the afternoon in guitar geekdom. After 10 years of using essentially the same guitar rig, I'm switching things up for this tour. That involved a lot of programming and a lot of nerves before the show. But it ended up going pretty well!
Our show tonight went really well, considering it was a first show. The crowd really seemed to track with us as we took people on a musical journey that included songs off the new record as well as a lot of classic Third Day favorites. We're using a lot of video on this show which is fun, and there's a HUGE catwalk out to the middle of the crowd that will get used quite a bit. A great first show for sure.
One awesome thing about these mulit-artist tours is being able to see so many other bands play.I saw We As Human and Royal Tailor live for the first time, and they were both excellent. If you've never heard them, you owe it to yourself. Our good friend from ATL, Jamie Grace, did a stellar job as well. And Skillet literally brought the house down. Those guys (and gals!) are good and they are LOUD. And if you ask me, loud is good.
So the first show of the Road Show is in the books. This is going to be a fun tour!
