Hey,guy's thanks for coming up north it was a great show. I look forward to see you here again so that you can take that dip in Lake Huron. God bless you on your tour.
An Evening With
Scotty gets the prize for line of the day. A few of us were sitting in the front lounge of the bus this morning. Scotty opens the door of the bus and marches in there. "Boys, we are UP NORTH!"
And we were. From the parking lot of the hotel, you could see the bridge that leads across the river to Canada. Port Huron is a beautiful town with a lot of water. A river flows right by downtown and drains into Lake Huron.
I had big plans today. I've swum in 2 of the Great Lakes, with a goal of swimming in all 5. But it was a little cold, a little overcast, and looked like it was going to pour down rain any minute. While the rains didn't officially hit until about showtime, it was enough to deter me. The upshot is I'll have to come back another time so I can swim in Lake Huron! I did go to The Raven and hang out. The Raven might be one of the coolest coffee shops I've ever been to. It's a two (or is it three?) story building right downtown, featuring great coffee and books on the wall. I could see C.S. Lewis hanging out at a place like this. You can even look out the window and see Sarnia. Sarnia, Narnia, whatever it takes…
The show tonight was great. We played at a medium sized church in Port Huron. Easily one of the best audiences for these "evening with" shows. We were a little worried for the first song or two. The show started with Hit Me Like a Bomb and Make Your Move, like we did on the spring tour. It MIGHT have been a little too much rock for the room we were in. But once we got through those, the audience really seemed to be with us the whole show. Especially from the acoustic set on. Highlights included the acoustic set, I Believe into Kicking and Screaming, and I Got a Feeling with just a snippet of Come Together at the beginning.
After the show we did an autograph signing, and met a lot of great folks from Michigan, as well as several people who made the "long" trip from Ontario (5 minutes across a bridge!). It's always great to meet people from Canada. We need to get back up there again soon!
Well, we're off for a few days before heading up to the Carolinas next weekend. It's a big sports week for Atlanta. The Braves are in the playoffs, and the Falcons are on Monday Night Football. Here's hoping the results are good ones!
