First of all -- FIRST of all, Third Day fans are really amazing. I loved meeting Stephanie from New Jersey and her Mom !! Long Island Third Day fans were great to stand in "the pit" with. Star 99.1 well was icing on the "cheese cake," - Junior's cheese cake is famous all across Manhattan even though I have dietary restrictions, I "HAD" to have a small slice. Jen, George and I were happy to mingle with Bob, Smiley, Tenth Avenue North and the guys, and loved seeing the pictures uploaded so quickly.
Now... the concert, as always surpassed my high expectations. I felt Third Day choose specific songs to take me on a journey -- and as always, I come out on the “Other Side” changed and new and loving Jesus Christ.
“Revelations” asked "should I stay here, or do I need to move" and Mac, Mark, Tai and Dave asked me to make a "Move." "Children of God" tells me I am redeemed and delivered and "Surrender" reminds me that my walk with Christ will hold days of doubt and I must give up the fight -- with a positive lay it down, lay it down, lay it down "What Have you got to Lose." We ended the night with Rich Mullion's "Creed" and an enthusiastic "I believe It” as well as my favorite line and my favorite band’s name sake "and on the THIRD DAY, rose again."
I had to be at work at 8:30am, and I'm well into my forties and sleep is mandatory, but I am not weary today, but gratefully filled with God's glory and feeling very blessed to be able to spend another night with Christ, 3D’s fantastic team (thanks Lott and Jacuelyn!) and the talented and anointed men of Third Day.
Make Your Move Tour
Today we were in New York City! I landed in Newark and took a cab over to the venue. If you’ve never ridden in a New York cab you have to do it! You will do things you otherwise might not have done...for example, call and make sure your insurance covers the ambulance ride to the hospital.
Once there I walked around New York for a bit. You never know what you might see. I saw a girl pierce a guy’s nose and I’m still not convinced he wanted that to happen. I also met several friendly people and by that I mean other tourist. Just kidding! New York people are very welcoming which was proven as I walked through the crowd taking pics of the night. Everyone kept saying things like, “Welcome to New York!” “Hope you guys enjoy New York!” and “Watch out, you almost stepped on my baby.” (The club we were playing was very dark and hard to walk around in.)
The venue was called “Terminal 5” and its one of my favorite places we’ve played so far. They had 3 levels making every seat close to the action. The only bad part of the night was that we had a curfew of 11PM.
That’s right. The “City That Never Sleeps” said we couldn’t play past 11PM... which was difficult seeing as how we didn’t start till 8PM. Being a team player I made sacrifices in my comedy set. I decided to just do the set ups and cut out the punch lines. Sorry New York. Hopefully I’ll get invited back to finish the jokes.
Third Day really seemed to feed off the energy of everyone being so close making it a memorable night on the tour. Or maybe it was the Cheesecake we had during the meet and greet. Whatever it was...Third Day rocked New York tonight!
