Third Day & Skillet Tour
We have had some great shows in Jackson through the years, dating back to our very first national tour with All Star United and Seven Day Jesus.
Scotty and I started our day off right with a trip to Mama Hammill's. If you are looking for the best country cooking in town, look no further. You pay a fee to get in, then you grab a plate and get to it. They have fried chicken, barbecued ribs, creamed corn, turnip greens, you name it. And when you're done with all that, they have some of the best peach cobbler I've ever had in my life. Next time you're in Jackson, you owe it to yourself.
This afternoon was spent meeting with a marketing guy from our record company. We had a great conversation. While the vision certainly has to start with what God's doing through the band, it's great to know we've got a capable team who will run with an idea once we put it out there.
Late this afternoon we got the news that our Cape Girardeau show tomorrow is going to have to be postponed due to weather. While it is a bummer for sure, it will be nice to have an extra day at home. Even though I guess we'll technically make that up later. Here's hoping everybody in that area is safe tomorrow. If I can give you any advice from someone who just lived through an ice storm in GA, just stay home! We'll see y'all in a couple of weeks at the make up show…
The show tonight was amazing. It's great to play in the South where people know how to talk right. Speaking of talk, we have always talked about playing the song "Jackson" by Johnny Cash when we roll through Mississippi. This time around we did it, and brought up Jamie's Grace's sister Morgan to help us out on the vocals. She did a great job! We also featured Jen from Skillet on Born Again tonight. That girl can flat out belt it. It was a special moment for sure. I think the most special moment on this tour is still, for me at least, is God of Wonders. It feels more like a collaboration with the audience than a performance. Peter Furler joined us for a rousing version of I Am Free again, which makes for a cool segue into his show. I'm loving this tour.
Well, we will certainly miss playing in Cape Girardeau tomorrow, but will enjoy the extra day at home this week. Word is that the show will be rescheduled for March 17th. We'll keep you posted!
