The Rock And Worship Roadshow
For a little while there, it didn't look like we'd make it to Fresno. Atlanta was hit with an ice storm this week, making many roads completely impossible to drive. But we had a lot of melting on Thursday - that's the beauty of living in the South - and made it to the airport this morning without a hitch.
If you've read many of these blog entries, you've gotten a sense of the tour rhythm. The first day of a run is usually a long one, involving a lot of travel before we even think about doing a show. Days like today are even longer. We had a 4 1/2 hour flight to LA followed by a 4 hour drive to Fresno. Add in a 3 hour time change, and we didn't know which end was up by showtime.
But it ended up being an unbelievable night for The Roadshow. The Save Mart Center was packed, with over 11,000 people in attendance. One of the biggest nights of the tour. On top of that, the people of Fresno were loud. I've talked before about being able to hear the crowd singing over the band, but tonight took it to another level. I got fairly misty eyed during God of Wonders, as the audience drowned us out not only on the chorus, but the verses as well.
Andy Mineo came out and sang with us again, bringing a little "Cali" feel to our set. Andy is from New York - I'll let you figure out what's Cali about that :) Andy's great though - one of our favorite new artists - you need to check his music out if you haven't already.
Right now I am enjoying a plate of barbecued ribs and sausage. Tonight we had a little post-show barbecue party with the entire tour. Yes, that means this tour is winding down. But we still have Las Vegas and Salt Lake City. Here's hoping they're good ones.
Thank you Fresno for an unforgettable evening!
