Here's a thorough and honest review of this show from your band's #1 fan videographer, who's seen you perform at a lot of different venues this year.
Venue-wise, from an acoustic and aesthetic standpoint, including production (lighting, sound, etc.), this show ranked #1 out of the 12 I've seen in 2011. I'm not just saying that because it was in my home state and at my home church. Out of the 6 churches, 2 theaters, 2 amphitheaters, 1 festival, and 1 state fair I've seen your band at this year, Grace Church is hands down #1 for the best quality venue in 2011. That, in itself, greatly enhanced the concert experience.
From a performance standpoint... Well... That's extremely hard to rank. From a fan's perspective, your band always gives everything they've got to make each performance the best experience it can possibly be for the audience. That's despite any uncontrollable adversity you guys may encounter, such as physical fatigue or technical issues. The only show of the 12 I've seen that topped this performance slightly was your hometown Atlanta show on October 1st. That's completely understandable, given all the family members and friends you had there. The pre-show WIRED M&G gathering there, was top notch!
The after show mini concert at Grace Church was a one-of-a-kind experience! Out of the 47 Third Day shows I've attended (so far), this was the very first one I had the extreme pleasure of experiencing. Thank you so much for making it happen here in Minnesota.
I got a kick out of your "We were a bit sloppy" comment, but I get what you mean. We can be our own worst critics at times. I felt a few nuances in my videos for this show were a bit sloppy and not my best work, primarily due to physical fatigue. I know you, and especially Mac for this show, can relate.
A huge THANK YOU to Mac and the band for playing "Billy Brown" live at a show for the first time ever! Thank you also to Justin the guitarist from the audience who helped make it happen by playing lead guitar on the song.
I hope anyone who reads this that hasn't seen the videos from this show will take the time to do so. I recorded nearly the entire concert (minus 1 song). Unfortunately, I didn't get "Revelation" because I was relocating myself for recording the acoustic set. The video with "Billy Brown" and the 4 after show videos are very unique.
God has worked so many miracles through your music ministry. The pinnacle of how your music had radically changed my life happened this year. God worked through a common passion for Him and Third Day's music to bless me beyond belief with an ideally matched lifetime partner. Dodie and I owe our strong new marriage to our love for God, our increasing faith, as well as our continued admiration and appreciation for Third Day. My wife and I have had a great run in 2011 seeing you guys multiples times on stage and through personal interaction at the Meet & Greets. She and I are so touched and feel so blessed by the extra personal touch you and your band has shown us whenever we've all been together at a show. Thanks again, Tai, Mac, Mark, David, Jason and Scotty for all you do as musicians and men of God. Please pass along our gratitude to the rest of the band.
