An Evening With
We have had some amazing shows in New Mexico, dating back to the mid-90's when we used to play at Cliff's Amusement Park. I am pretty sure we even played at this same church we played at tonight back in about '96 with Allstar United and Seven Day Jesus. I could be wrong though - i've been wrong before…
It was a HOT day today, topping out at about 105º, so most of our activities were confined to the indoors. Speaking of hot, we had a great lunch at a killer Mexican restaurant called Cecilia's. I can't remember the exact name of the dish i had - it was a long Spanish word that, loosely translated, must mean "the hottest thing you've ever eaten in your life." But it was so good.
After lunch we split up. A few went to the venue and a few went to the cinema to see World War Z. We were a bit divided. I loved it, as did Scotty and Honey Bunn, but Mac doesn't like zombies so gave it a thumbs down. So if you like zombie movies, see it.
We had an amazingly great show tonight. The crowd was very enthusiastic, especially when we invited them to come up to the front towards the end of the night. One cool thing about these "Evening With" shows is that we get to play more music and talk a bit more. The show clocks in at just under two hours, and it's a lot of fun. It was great being able to do some songs we haven't done in awhile like "Trust in Jesus" and "King of Glory" while still hitting a lot of songs off the new record like" Kicking and Screaming" and "I Need a Miracle".
Another cool thing about "Evening With" shows is that we get to interact with the fans more. Tonight we did both a pre show Q and A session with VIP ticket holders AND a post show signing. It makes for a long night, but it's totally worth it being able to talk with so many people.
Mac mentioned from stage that we need to come back to Albuquerque more often, and I agree. Hopefully we'll be back this way really soon. Y'all just try to do something about that heat :)
