Music Builds tour day 2- Indianapolis.
On a day that started with a trip to do some construction work on a Habitat For Humanity house, in the band devotions we carried on thinking about yesterday's theme and especially the concept of going deeper and being more firmly rooted in Christ. I shared some recent incidents where I had experienced the power and the presence of God in an intense way, and we discussed which things on the tour specifically, and throughout life in general, might prevent us from going deeper with Jesus. Focusing again on Jesus explanation of the parable of the sower-
Matt. 13:21 But like young plants in such soil, their roots don’t go very deep
- we highlighted the following 'weeds' that could keep us in the shallow soil rather than being deeply rooted:
*Fear of man.
*Lack of compassion for other people-not seeing them the way Jesus sees them.
*Fear of failure.
*Pre-occupation with worldly cares and concerns.
Mac made the great observation that 'hard ground, hidden obstructions, and using the wrong tools' could all prevent us digging deeper.
We determined to use this season of touring as a time to go deeper with Jesus, to encourage each other to go deeper, and to look for opportunities to lead others that we meet into a deeper intimacy with Jesus as well.
We know we have been called to build big and we know that means we need to dig deep.
