Well, today was an interesting day. This was a "fly date" for us. Meaning that we did not have all of our normal gear because we had to fly to the show. We only bring the essentials with us and rent the rest of it locally. That always mean a little more work for us. Then there was the fact that this was part of a baseball game we had to fit into the time frame of the day and fit everything into the way they do things. That meant a little more work for us. The worst part of the load in and setup time was that they had the roof open the whole time with the mid-day Texas sun beating down on us the whole time. It was HOT! Thankfully, as soon as we were done working, they closed the roof.
The band showed up a little later and did a lot of meetin' & greetin' with people around the park. Mac threw out the first pitch and we all got to be down on the field behind home plate for that. That was a great experience. Then it was off to watch the game. The Astros killed it and won by quite a few runs. This made the feel around the stadium high energy as we came out to set the stage and start the concert.
Given the limitations to everything, it took a few songs to get everything firing on all cylinders but once it was, everyone was having a great time. The band was rockin' out and the crowd just kept raising the bar with what they were giving back. All in all it was a great day. They say this was one of the biggest crowds they have had for an event like this. Thanks to everyone that came out and to the Astros for being such great hosts.
