This is my first attempt at blogging on this here website. My name is Chris. I worked for Third Day as their monitor engineer for nearly 5 years. Now I help with the website. Last night was my first time seeing a Third Day show from anywhere other than the side of the stage. And I can't think of any better place to do it then the historic Ryman Auditorium! As a former production guy, I know the guys had to work hard to fit all of their gear in that room but they did a great job. The show looked and sounded amazing.
Another first for me was the after show concert the guys having been doing on this tour. I had been hearing about it but have not ever been a part of anything like that. It was a lot of fun. Usually on the tour the guys just move to another room in the venue and set up and play a little impromptu acoustic concert. The guys from Tenth Avenue, Third Day, & Trevor Morgan take turns singing originals and cover songs. Tonight they moved it down the street to The Hard Rock Cafe. In a room filled with friends and fans you could really see the guys come alive. Real laid back and care free. just playing music for the sake of playing music. And since this was Nashville, there were several friends in attendance that jumped up on stage to "help out" for a song or two.
All in all this was a great night. A different experience for me and I really enjoyed it. I have seen these guys play probably over 400 concerts over the years and I must say, they are at the top of their game right now. If you haven't seen this tour, I encourage you to try and find a way to. You won't regret it!
