What an amazing time we all had at Big Church Day Out! Our day, or should I say night, started really early. We arrived at Wiston House about 1:00am after driving from a USO show up near Cambridge. All a little jet lagged, and tired from a long day of travel and performing, I think the sight of the venue had a little bigger impact on us. The backdrop for the fetival, and our accomidations for the weekend, was a magnificent "summer house" built in the 16th century. However it was as nice as any top notch hotel in the world.
Big Church Day Out had been on everyone's radar for several years now but having never been to it, nobody knew exactly what to expect. The crew's day started early with an 8:00am load in. They were done by 10:00 and had a little time to nap again before show time. Our show time was earlier than we normaly play at events like this. Another unknown for most everyone. However, once we hit the stage, all of our questions were resolved with a break in the weather, bright rays of sun, and one of the best crowds of the year.
With only about an hour to play, the band pushed through to get as much music in as possible. However, the Spirit was moving strong and Mac allowed it to guide him in a bit "preaching" before launching into "I Need A Miracle."
Later that night, there was a campfire setup with a few hunderd people hanging out. Mac and Matt Maher decided they would go down and lead everyone in a few more worship songs.
With all of these experiences and the great community that happend between all of the bands up in "the house," Big Church Day Out is now on our radar more than ever and we are sure to try and make it a more regular stop on our schedule.
