Dallas has been really good to us lately. We played a big show at Prestonwood Church back in the summer, followed by a gig at the Rangers Ballpark in November. Now tonight we had a huge show at American Airlines Arena.
But a whole lot happened before the show. About an hour after we left San Antonio last night, we got stuck in an ice storm. Our bus pulled (more like slid) to the side of the road and stayed there for about 8 hours before temperatures warmed enough for us to move again. We didn't get to the venue until 2:30 this afternoon. But we made it safely! Huge thanks go to John Champlin, our bus driver for getting us to Dallas, as well as all our crew for setting things up quickly to get everything ready for tonight. Also thank you to all of you who continuously pray for our safe travels.
Today was our tour manager Lott's birthday. We gave him a card and a cake at dinner tonight, but let it be known that we are deeply grateful for all the hard work he does on a daily basis.
We had a special guest at the show tonight. You might remember from the last time we performed in Dallas that Mylon LeFevre lives in the area. He didn't perform with us tonight, but he did something that might have been better. Mylon led us in an amazing time of Bible study and prayer. It's so great to spend time with a fellow Christian musician who has literally spent time in our shoes and knows where we are. Mylon also has a good idea of our potential pitfalls moving forward. The bottom line is to stay grounded in the Word and to have a living, active faith in Christ that transcends any circumstances we might find ourselves in.
I said last week that Las Cruces might have been the best crowd of the tour. Well, it's open to debate, but I THINK Dallas might have taken it tonight. Not only was it a big crowd, but they were LOUD. The highlight tonight might have been I Need a Miracle. It is so humbling to look out and see people literally moved to tears over a song of ours. God of Wonders was also a special moment, as thousands of voices joined together in praise to the "Lord of all creation".
We've had some great memories in Dallas, and tonight will definitely go down as one of the great ones. Thanks to everyone who came out!
