We have had some amazing shows in West Texas through the years, so we've been looking forward to this one for some time. And tonight did not disappoint.
The weather today was the story of two seasons. This morning and early afternoon it was simply gorgeous. It felt like spring. Many folks on the tour took the opportunity to go for a walk or jog around the beautiful campus of Texas Tech, or to simply sit and soak it in. Then things escalated quickly. By showtime the temperature must have dropped 20 degrees, and the wind had picked up. Winter was back in full force. Hey, at least we had this morning…
For "tour church", Toren from Royal Tailor led us in a study on the importance of rest for an artist. He's a great speaker with some great ideas. My takeaway from his message: "If you want to be creative, look to the Creator." Toren was talking about how God held rest in high esteem and how we should do the same. I couldn't agree more.
We in Third Day spent a little time today working on some new music. We're still not sure as to the direction of our next record, or even what the next step is going to be. Right now we're just focusing on getting together and having fun making music. Based on today, I'd say mission accomplished.
Tonight will go down as another great West Texas show. A big crowd, and a loud one to boot. Highlights of the show include Tunnel, where Mac has been creating a "light show" by inviting fans to hold up their phones during the guitar solo. We also included Blessed Assurance and Cry Out to Jesus. The audience sang along, creating an unforgettable moment.
We have a long night and morning of travel ahead of us. We're driving to El Paso, then flying back home to Atlanta tomorrow. We will certainly take away some great memories from Lubbock. Thanks to all who came out and made it happen!
