I mentioned the other day about the last show of a run being interesting. Well, the first show of a run has a character of his own, particularly when we're traveling from coast to coast like we did today. Don't get me wrong - it's a blessing being able to take my kids to school and then go to the airport to travel to the show. But it makes for a long day. Today was a good day though. We flew from Atlanta to San Francisco, then made the short drive to San Jose.
San Jose is a great town, and we've had several great shows here through the years. From playing here a lot we have a lot of friends here, many of whom work in the computer industry and are way smarter than we are. It's always great to look out into the crowd and see some familiar faces.
One great aspect of this tour has been getting to know the other artists a little better. I say it a lot, but there really are some great folks who make Christian music. I've also enjoyed just watching the show every night. There are a ton of great artists out here, and a lot of variety, but they all bring it in their own unique way.
It was a fun show tonight. I feel like we're getting it more dialed in every night. The Roadshow features a long catwalk out to a 'B' stage right in the middle of the arena. I've been working on perfecting the art of going out there on a guitar solo and making it back to my place in time. It's harder than it looks! We have a 35 minute set, and I think we have figured out how to pack as much music as possible into that time slot. God of Wonders was awesome, and River felt the best it has all tour. Tonight was a good one for sure.
I said it earlier, but it's been a long day. It's been great, but it's been long. I'm going to go lay in my bunk and rot now :)
