After touring for years and years, remembering individual shows becomes more difficult. One of the easiest ways is to provide some kind of context, like something cool we did that day. Usually, though, it involves food. Today that food consisted of Freddy's Frozen Custard and Steakburgers. That was seriously one of the better burgers I've had in some time. And the "thing we did" would be watching Thor: The Dark World. Great movie, btw. I would recommend it if you're into superhero films.
Tonight's show was at Central Christian Church, known as the church Rich Mullins attended when he lived in Wichita. Rich meant a lot to us during the short time we knew him, and his legacy and influence continue to this day. It was a huge honor to play at his church, and we thought about him a great deal both before and during the concert.
Before the show we did another "eat and greet" with several fans. It's basically a chance to meet your favorite band (we are your favorite band, right?) and eat some good food. Perfect combination, right? It's always great to meet and interact with fans.
Tonight's show was great. We even let our hair down a bit and took some requests during the acoustic set. We ended up playing Take My Life, My Hope is You, Offering, and Blessed Assurance. My apologies to Scotty for starting Offering in the wrong key. Hey, I was proud that I even remembered the song :)
The highlight by far, was performing Creed. There was just something extra special about doing that song at Rich's church. That song has been a favorite of ours for many years, and I hope those who hear the song are as touched by it as those of us who are performing it.
We did a signing after the show, and got to shake some hands and give some high fives with some amazing people. It never gets old!
