What's there not to love about Ohio? Great people, great music. I mean it's the home of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Great sports too. Ohio State Buckeyes, NFL Hall of Fame, need I say more. And the food - I'm literally eating a buckeye as I type this...
It doesn't seem like we play Cleveland very often, but you would have had no idea if you were at the show tonight. Mac asked from stage how many people had seen us before. Usually it's about 50/50. But this tonight, an overwhelming majority of the audience had been to a Third Day show before. Apparently, Cleveland is "our people".
I loved the attitude of the crowd tonight. They came on a mission to have fun and to hear the songs they loved. We got about 5 songs into the show and people began shouting out the songs they wanted us to play. We conceded and ended up doing a little impromptu request section. We played Consuming Fire, Run to You (terribly I might add!), and Thief. I thought that was the end of it, but during our acoustic set, Mac asked me what song we were doing, and a bunch of people shouted out "Love Song!". Well, OK then. Love Song it is.
It was truly a great night of performing music and interacting with a great group of fans. We met a bunch of fans before the show in a VIP photo session. It was kind of interesting because they had us set up right beside the stage and took pictures with people right before they sat down. And we kept the fun going after the show with a full-on signing. Great time hanging with the fans in Ohio.
After the show, we finally finished watching the John Adams miniseries on the bus. It's really great if you've never seen it, but the last episode is quite depressing. I don't want to give too much away, but everybody dies :)
Well, Ohio is so great, we oughta do this again sometime. How about tomorrow? In Troy. I hear it's sold out!
