We had a great day in Louisiana today, although I have to make a confession. I didn't eat any Cajun food today. It wasn't for lack of opportunity - Scotty went with some friends to a local Cajun joint for lunch. I simply had a bunch of stuff to do. Besides that, I had a nice walk/jog around the church area. It was a beautiful day in some beautiful country.
This afternoon Nigel led us in a study of James chapter 1. Often referred to as the "Proverbs of the New Testament", James is one of those books where every single verse could be discussed for days. That is exactly what we did. We read through that chapter and then had a great discussion about prayer, wisdom, and righteousness. It was a great time.
We also did a VIP meet and greet this afternoon. Those are interesting. It's all about meeting a whole bunch of people in a short amount of time. Today there were just under 200. We got to spend some time with a few of the great folks of Louisiana, and heard many stories about our music. We even got a few requests that we tried to work into the set.
The show tonight was awesome! Once again, the staff at the church were extremely nice, and worked hard to make us feel at home. It worked. We even prayed with the lead pastor right before we took the stage.
The thing that set tonight apart from any other night was that we had an opening act. Remember Scotty's friends that I mentioned earlier? They're in a great roots rock band from Oklahoma called Consumed by Fire. They opened up the night with a short set of rip roaring rootsy fun. It really added a lot of energy to the night.
We did another signing after the show tonight, and met a ton of people. The fun thing about meeting people from Louisiana is trying to discern what they're saying through the accents. I know, I know - us Georgia boys have no reason to be talking. But it's fun meeting folks with character!
Well, I gotta split. David Carr brought out a John Adams documentary. It's awesome by the way. I'm thinking of wearing a powdered wig and taking up the fife...
