with Colton Dixon and Peter Furler

Over the last few days, Third Day has slowly evolved into a group of rugged outdoorsmen. OK that's probably pushing it a little, but we have ventured outdoors more in the last few days than we have, well, ever. I think Bend, Oregon has that effect on people.
We started the day by loading the all the artists into a couple of vans and driving to downtown Bend. Some of Colton's band rented bikes while the rest of us ate lunch. It was a downright beautiful day, and someone lamented that it was a shame that we were basically wasting the day by spending it indoors. A couple of Google searches and a phone call later, and all of Third Day were on the way to Tumalo Falls, along with Peter Furler and Colton. Jared, Colton's guitarist, also made the trip. (On a side note, Jared may or may not have taken a dare and gone swimming in the frigid water above the falls. I'll let you ask him about that one.)
The drive to the falls are alone worth the cost of admission. The outskirts of Bend do a cross fad into a breathtaking pine forest. Once you get to Tumalo the view of the falls is incredible. We got out and took some pictures, then hiked up to a viewing platform at the top of the falls. I'm pretty sure in the history of Third Day that was the first waterfall we've all hiked up. In fact, I'm quite sure of it.
Upon arriving back at the venue, it was pretty much go time. We did a meet and greet, then the show started. The show tonight was at a beautiful new amphitheater on the grounds of a church just outside of Bend. I think a lot of churches could follow their lead, because it was an amazing place to put on a show. The weather was perfect, and the audience seemed to be having a blast. I think when concert promoters plan outdoor shows in the summer, this is what they're dreaming about.
Peter joined us again for another passioned take on Keep On Working in the Free World, which ended up being a highlight. The encore was also incredible - we've been doing Your Love is Like a River into Otherside and it's been going really great.
Mac said from stage that we need to do this again next year, and I really hope we do. This was a great night that would be worth repeating. A lot.
