If you look at the inside cover of the Offerings album, you can get a sense of what it's like to play in West Palm Beach. That picture, taken at our West Palm show in 2001, shows us performing on a big, outdoor stage in front of a lot of people. That's exactly what we did tonight.
Today was very similar to yesterday. And let me tell you - I could get used to this. We parked our bus at a beach hotel and just let people do their thing. Several of us went to the beach, while a few of us played tennis. I was part of the tennis crowd. This was the first time I had played tennis in any sort of competitive situation in about five years, and it pretty much wore me flat out. But it was fun.
Our show tonight was an absolute blast. Being outside in Florida added an extra factor: it was hot and humid, so we were sweating profusely throughout. There is something about a good old sweaty rock show that just feels right.
And the people are a little bit crazy in a fun kind of way. Mac sets up "I Need a Miracle" by telling a story of us playing in New Jersey before a crazy crowd. Tonight he asked if anybody was from New Jersey and got a huge response. He replied by saying "Oh yeah -I forgot. South Florida is like New New Jersey." That pretty much sums it up right there.
The tour is officially winding down. It's definitely a bittersweet time. After the show tonight we had a little end-of-the-tour gathering in catering since tomorrow night will be busy. It was great hanging out with our new friends from the tour and reminiscing on the good times we've had.
Above all, we want to reflect on what God's done through the tour. We've prayed every night for God to work miracles in and through people. If you've had a miracle in your life, or had an opportunity to be a miracle to someone else we'd love to hear about it. Send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org .
Last show tomorrow in Orlando!
