A bit of trivia for the hard-core fans.
It is true that the name "Third Day" was almost universally hated by those close to the band in the early days, especially by the original Third Day manager/promoter who appears to have been "long time forgotten" (and who hopefully will forgive me for the reference to her--my beloved sister, Kathy Daniel Cecil). She thought the name wasn't catchy enough and pushed for her favorite, sideways 8, which referenced everlasting life God provides through a clever description of the infinity symbol. Mac and Mark believed that this would serve much better as the name of a song or album, but have yet to use it. The name Third Day caused much confusion in the early days, as many fans misunderstood its meaning and asked what God created on the third day. Fortunately, this confusion meant that they were being talked about, which inherently made it catchy enough. Mac and Mark stood their ground and perseverance paid off in the long run, as Third Day is now a household name in Christian homes everywhere. Well done, guys!
An interesting side note is that the name has been used by Jerry Davidson, former lead-singer for Jacob's Trouble, the sorely-missed band which provided an enormous amount of inspiration and encouragement as well as a high standard of music as ministry for a youthful Third Day to strive to emulate. Davidson's last known project was a band named "Sideways 8." And I thought only my sister was weird enough to turn a mathematical symbol into a creative name for a band!

Black 'n White Wallpapers for all TD guys...
I finally worked up wallpaper images featuring each of the TD guys individually. These are 800x600 images, but are fairly small in size (40K or so).
Hopefully all these images aren't taking up too much TD server space.
I will load the other images into my next few posts to this thread. 'Hope I'm doing this the best way.

Koolerz 300 Speedway Concert News Release
THIRD DAY TO PERFORM KOOLERZ 300 SPEEDWAY CONCERT
BAND JOINS JOHN TRAVOLTA, MARIAH CAREY, WAYNE BRADY AND TONY HAWK FOR DAYTONA 500 WEEKEND EVENTS; MAC POWELL SINGS NATIONAL ANTHEM LIVE ON FOX SPORTS
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (February 10, 2003) – The Koolerz 300 NASCAR Busch Series (race date Feb. 15 at Daytona International Speedway) recently announced that four-time GRAMMY nominated rock band Third Day will perform a post-race concert at the track following the season opener for the NASCAR Busch Series. Prior to the start of the Koolerz 300 Busch race, Third Day’s Mac Powell will sing the national anthem which will air live on FOX Sports.
“Daytona has successfully added extra amenities year after year for our Speedweek ticket holders,” said Robin Braig, Speedway President. “This high energy concert is a tremendous entertainment value that we believe will enhance Saturday’s racing experience. In addition, Third Day’s talented lead singer Mac Powell will honor us with his talents for our national anthem for the Koolerz 300.”
Immediately following Victory Lane activities for the Saturday, Feb. 15 Koolerz 300 NASCAR Busch Series race, Third Day will perform in the tri-oval area of the Speedway. The Koolerz 300 will begin at 1 p.m. EST and will be broadcast live on FOX Sports.
In addition, Third Day has been invited to lead Chapel services on Saturday for the Busch Series Drivers and Teams and also on Sunday for the Winston Cup Drivers and Teams.
In promotion of Speedweek events, Third Day, Daytona International Speedway and Chevrolet have teamed with radio stations in Florida to give listeners a chance to win a trip to the race and to meet Third Day. The six stations include, WBGB and WROO in Jacksonville; WJLF in Gainesville; Way FM in West Palm; WJIS in Sarasota/Ocala and WPOZ in Orlando.
Each station will have two Grand Prize winners that will receive tickets to the race, a meet and greet with Third Day after the concert, Chevrolet racing gear, a Third Day Rock Block (a block of CDs), and other prizes. Each station was given Third Day CDs, product and Chevy racing gear for in promotion of the contests.
The partnering radio stations are equally excited about the event. Andrea Kleid, promotions director for West Palm’s Way FM notes, “Our listeners are so excited about the opportunity to see Third Day at the Daytona International Speedway. We’ve combined it as a Valentine’s Weekend package, and the response has been wonderful!”
Third Day has been part of all promotions surrounding the Daytona International Speedway during Speedweeks, which will be attended by over 600,000 in 14 days.
Other celebrities attending Daytona 500 Weekend include Mariah Carey, performing the National Anthem at the Daytona 500; John Travolta, Grand Marshall Daytona 500; Wayne Brady, who will wave the green flag to start the 45th Annual Daytona 500 and Tony Hawk, who will participate in pre-race festivities for the Daytona 500.
Third Day recently garnered its fourth Grammy nomination for Best Rock Gospel Album of the Year. In 2002 Third Day captured multiple Dove Awards for Group of the Year (the second year in a row), Rock Album of the Year, and lead vocalist Mac Powell was named Male Vocalist of the Year.
In addition to two major headlining tours in 2002, Third Day also performed at more than 17 festivals and special events, landing them in front of more than 750,000 people through the course of the year, leading promoters to title Third Day the "touring artist of the year" and being honored by touring publication Pollstar, with a July cover. With three No. 1 radio singles in 2002 (“Show Me Your Glory,” “Come Together,” “It’s Alright”), the band garnered attention from the music industry and music fans alike.
Over its ten-year career, the five-piece rock band has garnered 16 Gospel Music Association Dove Awards, 18 No. 1 radio singles and has sold over three million records. The group’s last three albums - Time, Offerings and Come Together have been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) within the past 18 months.
