I'm curious as to what you think Jesus's favorite wine would be? From scripture, it's apparent that Jesus had some good taste in wine. He knew the difference between good wine and bad wine at the wedding of Cana. And he was nice enough to create the good stuff even though the guests were a bit tipsy. In his final moments on the cross, he is offered soured wine (vinegar) with gall and refuses it, but later takes the vinegar on a sponge. Some say that it was infused with both myrrh and gall. Myrhh was sometimes used in food & drink to sweeten it and give it a more pleasant smell. It was also likely Jesus drank kosher wine since He was a Jew. Of course this doesn't really mean much since the winemaking process doesn't usually involve anything that by Jewish law would make it unclean, except during Passover in which they would have to remove the yeast by boiling it. Jesus also called the wine at the last supper, the blood of the new covenant, so it's hard for me to picture it being white wine. I'm thinking it was something along the lines of a fruity red - perhaps a merlot or chianti, mixed with water to dilute it of course. There are somethings that are rather sparse such as modesty and women or consuming alchohol. But... There are somethings that are rather sparse such as modesty and women or consuming alchohol. But instead of seeking the Lord about what he wants us to do about such things we just automatically assume that just because it says nothing in the Bible that we cant do something we do it thinking the Lord does not care because he doesn't plainly tell us not to do something or to do something.

Some issues aren't black and white I understand but some are and the scary thing is some Christians question even those things. Things like the validity of the Bible or homosexuality or porn when to me the answer is as plain as the nose on my face.

God says not to lust after a man or women and that is the very intent or vehicle that porn uses. Homosexuality is plainly a sin in scripture and yet why do we question those things?

I question somethings as well and dont see the sin in somethings but on those issues I either stay away from them altogether because I know where they lead or sometimes I ask the Lord what he means in said Scripture.

To me the Word of God is not at all debatable. God meant what he said and said what he meant

the Bible is right and sombody is wrong. But I will say that I have trouble understanding what the he meant with very vague passages of Scripture.

There are two kinds of people. People that live very loose and take the attitude that if the scripture doesn't condemn something then it automatically means its ok to do. The other side is full of people that do what their preacher tells them with a list of do's and dont's, mu church is very traditional and conservative and someone on the outside looking in may think we are the latter but our minister constantly tells us to seek the Lord for ourselves and see what he has to say about certain issues.

Both extremes are equally dangerous. In the preceding verses about Esau and Jacob we saw that God choose between them by His sovereignty alone. Now here we see that God used Pharaoh in His sovereign purpose so that it is understood that God has a purpose and will without the help or interference of man accomplish that purpose. God’s sovereignty has always been a problem with man because the first time God’s sovereignty interferes with mans understanding then the first thing that is said is that is unfair.

As with Esau and Jacob the question is how can God decide this before they were even born, how can God choose Pharaoh before he was even born.. It is insinuated that God is not fair and does not apply mercy and compassion equally yet mercy and compassion are not rights that we deserve or have coming by nature birthright. They are favors bestowed, that is why God can show mercy to whom ever He pleases. God is sort of saying, "I am God I can do as I please." But there is an immediate reaction that most people take when they are faced with this idea.

"SEATTLE -- The man who shot and killed a Seattle police officer on Halloween likely followed the officer for about 15 minutes before the shooting, according to new evidence revealed by investigators.
Police on Thursday said a dash cam inside Ofc. Timothy Brenton's patrol car snapped a photo of the car believed to be that of the gunman at 9:46 p.m. on Oct. 31 -- driving by the patrol car minutes before the shooting, which occurred just after 10 p.m.

Sgt. Sean Whitcomb said the photo, seen above, was taken while Brenton and his trainee, Ofc. Britt Sweeney, were at a traffic stop at Martin Luther King, Jr. Way and East Jefferson.

The two were parked in their patrol car near 29th Avenue and East Yesler Way minutes later when another vehicle pulled up alongside and someone opened fire on the officers.

Prior to Thursday, detectives believed the shooting to have been random. They have not commented further in light of the new evidence.

Also on Thursday detectives said the shooter is likely someone who underwent a significant personal crisis in the past and may often have been outspoken about a deep personal grievance, police said Thursday.

And investigators believed he used a Datsun 210 with a model year of 1980 to 1983 to carry out the shooting of Officer Tim Brenton near the intersection of 29th Avenue and East Yesler Way.

They say his skills with weapons suggests some prior training, such as previous employment or hobbies involving firearms.
The gunman may have practiced for the shooting, and he may have altered or hidden the vehicle afterwards, Assistant Police Chief Jim Pugel said Thursday at a press briefing.

It's probable that the gunman had been outspoken about a deep personal grievance, perhaps involving his employment or position in life. And even though he shot a police officer, he may admire or act like them, investigators said.

Investigators said one or more others may have been involved in planning the attack but didn't know it would result in murder. It's possible that those others may now fear for their own safety.

"We are willing to listen and help, if such an individual wishes to contact us about the killer," Pugel said. He said detectives were able to narrow down the type of car used with a patrol car's dash camera, which shows a car similar to the light-colored subcompact from which the fatal shots were fired.

Police Spokesman Sean Whitcomb said the video was recorded around the time and vicinity of the shooting, which also wounded Britt Sweeney, an officer in training.

They are now trying to identify the exact car through licensing records and bills of sale.

If anyone has recently sold a 1980 to '83 Datsun 210 or had one stolen, it is important that they call Seattle Police at 206-233-5000, Pugel said. A reward of $105,000 has been offered for information leading to an arrest and prosecution of whoever is responsible for the killing of Brenton, who was training Sweeney on the night of the tragedy. Reward posters are already up.

After the shooting that killed Brenton and grazed Officer Britt Sweeney, the attacker's car backed away in an apparent attempt to avoid the police car's camera. Whitcomb said that's a sign the shooting was planned.

Detectives have been looking through more than a terabyte of video gathered from patrol cars, red light cameras and business surveillance systems in the city's Central District neighborhood.

A source speaking on condition of anonymity said investigators have issued a confidential bulletin with a description, including the make, model and color of the vehicle, to law enforcement officers throughout the state. No license plate number was included in the alert, the source said.

Brenton was a nine-year veteran of the Seattle Police Department. He graduated from West Seattle High School in 1988. His father and his uncle are both retired Seattle police officers.

A public memorial service for Brenton is scheduled for Friday at 1 p.m. at KeyArena. Doors will open at 11 a.m., and a procession of more than 1,000 vehicles will travel through the city in advance of the service beginning at 9 a.m.

I taped it (it lost the viewing war with So You Think You Can Dance that night) but watched it last night.

My initial thought when I heard that they were turning the original miniseries into a new series this year was "It's SO going to suck!" I didn't care much for the series they came out with after "The Final Battle", but loved both part 1 and part 2 of the mini-series itself (still have the original airing recorded on VHS, as well as the series, just to have a complete set) which I've watched multiple times, and have read the book more times than I can count.

So I'm kind of a fan of the original. And given that "new and improved" things rarely are, I heard "new remake" and went *pthththt* It didn't even have any of the same characters.

Which in retrospect, now that I've seen it, is a good thing. All they've really kept from the original miniseries is initial concept, and they're clearly not just trying to rehash any of the old stuff, preferring to make it into something more current and original.

But given that my track record for liking/not liking shows based on previews is pretty bad (I was SO sure I was going to hate "Castle" before I saw it based on the previews, and it ended up being my favorite new show after just one episode), I figured I'd at least give the new "V" a shot.

So I gave it a watch last night. I was a BIG Nirvana back in the day, and I still am. I kept on listening to thier music after Kurt took his own life. These past 5 years or more, there have been more CD's + Box sets being released of Nirvana music. I just saw a commercial for a Nirvana concert 'Live @ the Redding Festival' being released. Its on both CD and DVD.
