It's a decompressive lumbar laminectomy with fusion. My back has been killing me for a while now and after many tests and so many pictures that I should be on Top Model, I'm going under the knife.

I'll only be in the hospital for 1 night .. Maybe 2. It's a relatively simple procedure but it's still major surgery.

Couple specific things I'm asking for:

-Guidance for the surgeon's hands (Dr Zorub)

-(This is a BIG one) Guidance for the anesthesiologist because I am ALWAYS a difficult "stick" ... it's very painful as they keep poking at me and I end up very black and blue. Last time I had a procedure it was this that made me cry and not the surgery.

-Quick recovery ... I hate hospitals ... truly I do.

Both my primary MD and the surgeon tell me that the pain relief will be immediate. I'll even be able to do steps, albeit slowly. Total recovery time will be 4-6 weeks. (Thank you Jesus for short term disability insurance!!! \0/)

As ya'll know, I'm getting married next May on May 21, 2011 and while I'm fine with the date we set, it's getting harder and more difficult for me to leve my fiance' after spending time with her. I wish we could move the date closer but - due to me opening my big mouth and saying I wanted a big wedding - we can't because of her kids' work schedules - and that hurts.

I came home and cried tonight because I just long to be with her and in her arms so bad every night (sorry if this gets too personal) and I'm tired of sleeping alone....

Just pray that God will give me the strength and patience to wait this thing out...and also pray that He'll give me strength and patience when she flies to New York in December for her daughter, Brenna's, wedding. She'll be gone from Thursday through Monday - that, I think, is the longest we've been apart since we began dating/became engaged - and we won't get to talk much, either, because she'll be so busy. I'm not going with her to New York for the wedding and that hurts but there are reasons why I won't be going - and I'm not at liberty to discuss those reasons why

"This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws on their hearts, and write them on their minds."

Clearly, following a summary of how the law cannot save and how Christ salvifically fulfills the law, the writer interprets Jeremiah's statement on this covenant as referring to Christ, and therefore "their hearts" as referring to the hearts of Christians or in other words the elect.

A thought occurred to me. When did Jeremiah mean when he reports "after those days"? Of which days is he speaking? Further, he uses the future tense to say that he will put his laws on their hearts. Does that mean that the generic (not Levitic) law* was not previously on the their hearts?

Paul, in Romans 2:14-15, also notes:

"For when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law. They show that the work of the law is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness, and their conflicting thoughts accuse or even excuse them."

Now this passage seems to indicate that the law has already been written on the hearts of unbelievers. Or, am I missing a nuance that means Paul is talking about Christian gentiles and the Levitic laws?

With this in mind, how do we take Hebrews 10:16 and Romans 2:14-15? Do we take them together to form a schema of how the law is written on each person's heart? I'm not saying they need to be reconciled, necessarily, but I wonder if there are other implications to be taken from it.

I just had to tell about a Third Day encounter I had. Well a Third Day fan encounter I had last week.

I had been on vacation on the island of Oahu in Hawaii when we had to take an inter-island flight to Kauai. As we were waiting for our flight to San Francisco I noticed a couple of people who had Third Day t-shirt on. Well, you all know me, I am not too shy. I went up and asked if they were Gomers. They looked at me like I had 3 eye or something. But then I asked them about where they had seen them in concert, etc. Even though I have been sort of out the the TD loop in the last few years. It was still nice to touch base with fans of the band some 4000 miles from the mainland.

So I thought I'd share my story.

I just got home from a baseball game where a fan fell 30 ft. I am still a bit freaked. We were facing that section when it happened. Even worse, my 6-yr-old saw it. He doesn't seem to be affected, but he did see it, and talked about it afterward.

The Cleveland players really seemed shaken. They were on the field when it happened, so they saw it all. I was sitting 13 rows above their dugout, so I can understand why they seemed to have no desire to play the rest of the game. Not a coincidence that the Rangers, who didn't see it happen, scored 9 runs afterward.

Reports are that the guy fell onto 4 other fans, and none of them have life-threatening injuries. He fell head-first, though. We are tested while here…as if to see what we are made of. If we listen to worldly wisdom…we will surely be drawn away from true wisdom. If we desire to run the race in a fashion that will allow us to finish well…we must have knowledge of true wisdom.

Where are we to find this wisdom, this truth that is absolute? Only by looking to the One. The Alpha and the Omega…the beginning and the end. Our Father, and our Lord Jesus…through whom all things were made that were created. By the power of His word…is all that was made held together.
Shouldn’t we then seek out the knowledge of His word?

The word (bible) is our guide. All that we need…is contained within this collection of books. If we look to God and His word for the wisdom to live in this world…we will do well. It is when we take our eyes and our minds from His word…and turn to the worlds ways that we fail. None of us is perfect…but the only One who is perfect…is for us not against us.

When our eyes are opened to the truth…we gain understanding.
We see that all we need…has always been there waiting for us.
When our hearts are opened to the Truth…we see God Himself.
God is Truth…God is also love.

Just as we are in part spirit…God is Spirit. God has in His love for us blessed us with His Holy Spirit. This is our guide into all wisdom. A part of God Himself dwells within us…how amazing is this? Need guidance, wisdom, truth, love, or life? Ask God…He wants to give us these things.
