What is, in your opinion, and no arguing here, the best or worst music style? Give why you think that way, and lets keep it peaceful. Just give your opinion and why you feel that way. I think the best music style other than Christian, is country. I grew up with it and just find a lot of the music that is produced in country talks about every day life situations from the loss of a loved one to the birth of your child to marriage and break up, just the emotions you feel. It covers it all, and then some songs are just fun to hear and others, I stay away from. But all in all, I think country just covers life and every situation you come across.

I cannot say that style matters to me much. This came up in a discussion recently regarding a Third Day Cd. I said that one in particular wasn't as good as other Third Day records. The friend asked me if it's because it was more rock, or less rock, or some such thing. And the answer was it had nothing to do with the sound. The songs weren't as good on that one CD. That's all. The songs weren't as good.

All styles have many examples of good songs, and some other examples of bad songs. I'll take a good song every time, regardless of the sound.

I'll be honest with you...my sister made me listen to Hannah Montana in the car one time and I like her sound. I even put it on my iPod. I mean I'm not going to go around telling people that but I don't know, I just like how her songs sound. ;)

My point by saying that is I'll listen to anything if it's good and if it's not saying something I don't agree with.

I like all kinds of music. I haven't heard classical enough to say, but I don't think I would prefer it as much as the others. It may be I'm just not cultured enough. I have a few guilty pleasures I hate to admit I like. Can't stand anything he stands for, but I have not heard a Kid Rock song I did not like. I don't go buy his CD's but if I happen to hear them on radio or TV, I can't help but like it. Not a good role model for my boys, so that one is my little secret, till now I guess. :P I also like most of the High School Musical songs I've heard. Those kids are really good.

And I was afraid to admit that I still listen to Barry Manilow ...

Ah finally people who understand me:D Some of my co workers in my line of work when they met me, asked me what I liked in music. I said a little of everything, country dance pop rock, ect. I hate rap to an extent, there are some songs I like in that style, but not many. I even like the show Hannah Montana, I think its funny and a good family show. Doesnt make me weird, just different than what culture has stated as normal. Everyone likes different things, and I'm one of those people.:D

A lot of guys watch Hannah Montana...I mean hey, it's got Billy Ray Cyrus! ;)

I have quite a few guilty pleasures...I still listen to Backstreet Boys every once in awhile because I grew up listening to them and they're still making good music. :o

I have a very wide range of taste in music...like middletree said, I listen to whatever sounds good.

To me the best kind of music in general(besides christian rock) is rock. i love it because it has awesome guitars, and it's nice up beat. i also love some of everything, from jazz to classical, country, and even rap. but as far as rap goes, i don't really like the newer rap, i like suff from 80's and early 90's. the only kind of music i am not absolutely crazy about is the screaming rock, it just gives me a headache. and as far as the christian music scene goes, i am apperciative of anything that may reach the lost.

well that's all. -LL

I was going to say that in the interest of keeping the peace, a better way to ask the question would be "What are your favorite and least favorite styles of music?" That way, people are giving you what music they like, rather than saying that a certain style is good or bad overall. But I don't have to post that, because you all seem to have figured that out on your own. ;) :)

I like pretty much everything, but I'm very fond of hard rock, punk, and folk. The only kinds of music I really do not like are country and adult contemporary, probably because I think story songs are cheesy. But other than that I'll listen to anything that's good.

The best for me is classic rock and blues, well just because that's what I grew up listening to. Well the rock anyway, I didn't get into the blues until later but the classic rock I grew up on got evolved from blues. Used to be an Eric Clapton fanatic and still enjoy his music but lean more toward CCM nowadays.
The worst absolutely is gangster rap, to me listening to it is just like having an impacted wisdom tooth pulled.
Haven't heard any of that gansta polka rap yet but I don't know it might be an improvement.;)

I like all kinds but my favorites are classic rock, (Dylan, Springsteen, the Eagles, the Grateful Dead) Old school country (Waylon, Willie, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, George Jones, Kris Kristofferson) country-rock, (Cross Canadian Ragweed, Reckless Kelly, Wade Bowen, Cooder Graw)

The only kind of music that I have never reallu cared for is jazz. I know we're all supposed to love it, but it does nothing for me. I don't even like jazz-influenced rock like Steely Dan. I also don't really care for a lot of the newer country artists like Kenny Chesney or Rascal Flatts. It just doesn't seem like real country to me.

Rock and Roll (specifically of the Jam persuasion), but I love blues, classical rock, christian, etc

I like just about everything:rock, rap, pop, blues, jazz, metal, weird al, anything. By the way, for those of you who are labeling Christian music as a genre, it isn't a genre if you really start to think about it. The only difference is the lyrics (and the painfully obvious fact that many Christian artists are one-hit wonders:confused: :( :o :o :o :o :o :o ). Just thought I'd mention that;) .

Aman about the rap. I dont like rock to much anymore at least the modern stuff. Im more into the jam band/progressive/improv kind of stuff like Glass Harp and if you never heard of them you are missing out on the best band ever. They are the kings of jam band music in fact they were one of the very first and many don't know that. They tecnically created a unique sound for themselves.

I also like the coldplay/cool hand luke kind of mellow stuff. I also like 311

Now as far as music I immensly dislike I don't like black gospel or any kind of soul stuff. I'll be real blunt and say that say that I don't like any black music. I don't know why I just don't

I can't stand all that yeeeeeeahhhh yeeeeeaaah wellll well well stuff. How disgusting

I also dont like any kind of metal ANYKIND that stuff is demonic as far as Im concerned.

I almost forgot to mention that I like classic country this mess that they call country today just dont cut it.

I cant believe im admitting this but I USED to like the Spice Girls.

My guilty pleasure is that I kinda like Cindi Lauper(sp) one or too songs anyeays

12 tone jazz is worse than rap; the only difference is that most jazz has no offensive lyrics.

You need to go talk to Ziggy on the DR boards. He's all about art for art's sake. You two would either get along great or tear each other apart. Either way, I'd love to watch it.

He he. I heard Weird Al's Alternative Polka the other day. Excellent!

I think the worst style of music is rap-it just gets on my nerves!!!

My old opinion of rap was that it wasn't really legitimately music. However, I have since decided to classify it under the spoken word/bard/classical minstrel sort of category. In ye olden days people would say verse over instrumentation such as a lyre, and rap could sorta kinda be considered an extension of that. Therefore, I declare the style of rap to be acceptable!*
