View Full Version : Air yer Wired grievances and questions here

I've seen several different threads for Wired and each one seems to have one major or minor grievance or question or issue that people are yakking about.

Just thought they'd be easier to spot and address if they were all in one thread.

The four I know about off the top of my head:

1) It's been reported that we're not going to have a choice of sizes in the t-shirt that comes included with our Wired membership. Not an awful thing, except that the size that is being rumored to be the one that will be sent to everyone is going to be a SMALL? I don't know about anyone else, but the last time I fit in to a size small shirt, I was wearing color (that would be "colour" for you folks overseas ;) ) coordinated "Garanimals".

Q from Debbie: Where did you get this information?
2) First of two issues with the Meet and Greets - Can anyone confirm if this is correct, or correct it if it's wrong: Only people with Wired memberships will be allowed to participate in the M&Gs, even if they're coming to the concert with one other person, like a spouse, significant other, or just a non-gomer buddy. IE: if they come to the show with someone else, they'll need to leave the second party behind while they participate in the M&G?

Response from Debbie: Corrine is best to get the correct answer to this question for you. She will be back Thursday.

3) Second M&G issue I've seen: It was initially listed as being allowed to request M&Gs for any show that you go to. The new info listed after Wired was up and running is now showing it as being just one show per tour. Would just like to find out which is correct.

Response from Debbie: Another question for Corrine. Look for a response shortly.

4) Can it be confirmed that the presale ticket availability through Wired will actually be better than what we've been getting through Music Today? Case in point: Greenville - other than the four or so front row seats that Sarah and Mary lucked into, all the rest of the seats made available in the presale were 20-25 rows back from the stage, in the furthest back floor sections. Tickets made available via MusicToday have never been GREAT, but Greenville was a bit of a joke. Just looking for confirmation that for the Wired presale for future shows, that it'll be like it was mentioned earlier, that the tickets set aside for that will be in the first 5 or 6 rows.

Response from Debbie: Personally I would not base a pre-Wired pre-sale on Wired benefits. One of the purposes of Wired was to obtain better seats. Before I would allow myself to be disappointed, I would 1st confirm how it will work. Corrine would be better to obtain and share the details with you.
Okay, that's what I've seen scattered about the various Wired threads.

Anyone have anything else?

Nice job!
Depending on the answers to those questions, is wether or not I'll join!

The way I read the pre-sale ticket policy, it reads as though we are buying the tickets blind.
I woulld like to know if this is correct?

Also it stated we would be buying on the public on- sale date, is this also correct? Pre-sale ususally means before Public on Sale???

I just want to know if I am understanding all of this.......

This is from the ticket section of WIRED and seems to indicate we will have direct sale tickets at the time of the general public on sale and tickets will be spread out thoroughout the venue. How is this any better than the lousy tickets available for the Greenville pre-sale?

Ticket Statement
When touring, the Third Day Wired will be selling an allotment of each North American show's tickets directly to their Fan Club members, instead of through a standard ticket distributor. Members of the Third Day Wired will be offered these direct sale tickets at the time of the general public on-sale. Tickets purchased through the Third Day Wired are limited to 4 tickets per member, per show. Upon joining, members are eligible to request tickets during a Third Day Wired Ticket Ordering Period. Please note that at this time, the Third Day Wired can only ship tickets to addresses within the U.S. and Canada. Members living in countries outside the U.S. and Canada are eligible to participate in the Ticketing Order Period but must provide a shipping address within the U.S. and Canada.

Seats in indoor venues that are reserved by the Third Day Wired for its members are spread over various sections around the arena. As more and more members order tickets, there is a strong probability that some members will be allocated seats to the sides or the rear of the stage, as well as in upper tier or upper bowl sections. Seat locations are determined by automatic computer lottery, and refunds and exchanges are not permitted.

Will I get better seats through Third Day Wired Ticketing than through other ticket outlets? We have reserved what we consider good seats for Third Day Wired members. While not everyone will be placed in the first few rows from the stage, we have made every attempt to reserve seats with a decent view.

How do I know where my seats are? Members will not have access to seating grids on the Third Day Wired web site. Please consult the venue website.

so they won't be "blind" seats, but you will have had to have already done your research and have a seating chart to look at from another source to determine where your tix are...

Gapeach3DFan
10-03-2007, 12:34 PM
I got the same thing from that, Candace. I think you just need to have the seating chart from another site already pulled up, be it from the venue's site or the general sale site (ex. Ticketmaster or iTickets), in order to know where the seats are.

I saw the same thing Jamie did, though, about the tickets being available at the time of the general sale. I hope they just mean that it would be around the same time. They have been starting the presale a few days before the general sale. I hope that is still the case.

My main grievance would be that there aren't any other payment options (at least not right now) other than having to use a credit/debit card to join. I stopped using my credit/debit card online because I started seein' fraudulent charges appearing on my bank statement...

Other than that....that's the only complaint I have...so that's why I'm "Wired"-less.

You could call Music Today and wait on hold for 15 minutes like I have for the fan club. You might enjoy the Elvis they are playing while being on perpetual hold.

Corrine will be able to get the answers to these questions for you. She will be back on the boards tomorrow I believe. I will link it in an email to her so she gets it quickly.

I don't think we confirmed any grievances yet, right? At least not until we get the answer to the questions.

We have been missing Corrine. Hope all is well with her. I think we need answers and then will know if there are grievances. I gave up trying to get someone on the phone and sent an e mail.

The Unknown Gomer

So far the only confirmed actual grievance is Tony's, I think. And I can relate to that one; I spent a year helping my mother get rid of a $600 bogus charge for internet service out of Singapore when someone at AT&T got careless with her card number one time. I charge stuff all the time, and have never had a problem, and the ONE time she does it, someone horks her card number.

But I'm perfectly happy with Wired right now, what little I've done with it thus far. And shall remain so, at least until I get answers that make me UNhappy. (I've heard rumblings (and no it's not my stomach growling, although lunchtime is fast approaching :P ) about people contemplating getting refunds on their memberships pending some of the answers to the above.)

So when you email Corrine, tell her to give us all HAPPY answers, please. :)
(I know, she's only the messenger, so even if she's got to deliver some un-happy news, I promise not to shoot her. ;) )

Corrine is great, her and husband took a short road trip to celebrate their wedding anniversary.

Where did you send an email and did you get a response?

PS: Debbie, I just saw your additional comments at the top of the thread in my original post.

Basically, I just gathered what I saw in other places on the boards and put them in one nice neat spot. Which also gives people a place to add their own specific issues as they come up.

At this point, there are so many questions flying around, until they're answered definitively, I'm honestly not worrying about any of it. It's all good. :)

At least until/when/if it's...um...not.

PSS (or is it PPS, I can never remember): Happy Anniversary, Corrine. What a great reason to NOT be here on the boards right now. :)

Debbie, Jamie posted in another thread that she had called MusicToday about the t-shirt and was rudely told that everyone would be sent a small. He might have just wanted to be ugly because she had bothered him with that question. I think she was not wrong in calling since there was nothing on there about the shirt. So, she just wanted to check. So, I think he was at fault. But, Cebrina is checking on it. She got someone else when she called. And, they are supposed to be calling her back with the answer. :)

Here it is (http://www.thirdday.com/boards/showthread.php?t=99736)

I probably shouldn't admit this but, I am a member of another popular band's similar subscription service. Typically, they have seats available for presale that are in the first 10 rows. I also subscribe (for free) to John Fogerty's site and due to that fact, I was able to obtain tix on the 5th row center section. It is so much fun to read these things.

Well, that's interesting. Check out the new news article on Wired. :)

Attention Wired Members!

Thanks for joining Third Day WIRED!

We will be adding a required field in your Member Info profile that will allow you to select a shirt size for your Third Day WIRED T-shirt. Available sizes will be Small, Medium, Large, XL and XXL. We will not be shipping out one size (Small) for all new members as some have reported. Thanks for your patience--we will have the new functionality up shortly.

So, we get to choose the size. It's not on there yet, though.

I would have been happy with them giving us one size, as long as it was a large enough size, but definitely more than happier to select my own size though. :D

Someone at Music Today needs to dope-slap the guy who answered the phone when Jamie called yesterday. Not only was he rude, but he was clearly ignert to boot!

Hey, Necie. Just go back to the Join page. Right below the link for joining is where you put in your activation code they gave you. I see now that the number of Meet & Greet passes for the venues has increased a LOT. When I originally signed up, I think I might have been the first one, and that brought the number available down to 14 if I remember correctly. Now the number available is 24. What do you think?

It's bad enough that you have to read instructions elsewhere than the site itself on how to activate your account (I could go on about how bad the usability of the WIRED!! site is and the n00bish oversights, and the whole sign up process, but I shall shut my mouth)...but then not letting me log in...GOOD GRIEF.

Suggestions? Has anyone else had this issue?

There is a Thread for the Login.
Go to where you went to join up. On that page is a link where you type in the number you received on your confirmation order. This number will be towards the bottom of the page. Type this number/code in to activate your account. You can then create a Username etc.:D

Already did that...account is activated. I tried to activate it again, thinking that perhaps it may not have gone thru, but it says it is activated. I had my password reset, which worked successfully, but it still won't let me in.

A couple of people said it worked for them the same way, couldn't get in, couldn't get in, and then *poof* it worked for them.

I think it may be a traffic issue, that was the first issue that was listed on the Wired help page, that if things aren't working correctly, that it could just be that there are too many people trying to log in at once. It would make sense, given that one second it's not working and the next it is, with no other changes being made.

Don't forget to plug in your Wired number in the "What's your Wired number" thread. :)

I wondered about that too. Since I thought we would get some code to type in while making a purchase. But all you have to do is log in at the Wired website, then click on the store, once you are in the store, the prices are automatically discounted. Smells good to me! If it were not exclusive, you wouldn't get a FREE t-shirt. Imagine the thousands who would expect it, for nothing. New question!

Can Wired be set up to retain log in info for more than just one session (ie: like ebay, you can log in once, and it's good for the whole day if you want it to be, just by checking a little box.)

THAT would be a nice plus here if it could be done. :)

I have been gone for over a week. Bad timing, I know, but Dan and my 25th wedding anniversary coincided with the opening of Wired. We figured the anniversary took precedence, and we high-tailed it out to the country for a few days of celebrating. I will be looking over the Wired issues and delving into solutions early next week. I'm sorry for your wait.

Exactly like Gomertopia, this is how you do it. Under the sign in blanks, click "Forgot ID/Password". That takes you to a place where you can either retrieve your password or sign in and check the box to stay signed in.

Corrine,

In my line of work (volunteer or otherwise), there is never a good time to take leave. It is, however, always a bad decision to not take time away when it is most needed. God Bless you and Dan as you continue to grow in Him as a couple into the 26th year. You guys rock!

In Him,
David

Congrats Corrine on 25 yrs of marriage. That's nothing to sneeze at when you see the failed marriage stats. We'll celebrate 15 years next month with an out-of-town trip to a Third Day show!!! Yeah for lasting marriages:D :D

I know most of these questions have already been answered in other threads, and through your own experience, but in the interest of completeness and clarity, I wanted to answer them again here.

1) It's been reported that we're not going to have a choice of sizes in the t-shirt that comes included with our Wired membership. Not an awful thing, except that the size that is being rumored to be the one that will be sent to everyone is going to be a SMALL?
This has already been solved.

Each member gets one meet and greet pass per tour. If they bring anyone else with them, and that person wants to attend the M&G, they need to join Wired and get a pass for themselves.

3) Second M&G issue I've seen: It was initially listed as being allowed to request M&Gs for any show that you go to. The new info listed after Wired was up and running is now showing it as being just one show per tour. Would just like to find out which is correct.
I think the person who wrote this didn't take into account the fact that some people go to several shows a tour. The way it's worded, it means that there will be M&G's in every city on the tour, so at any show you attend, there will be a M&G available.

4) Can it be confirmed that the presale ticket availability through Wired will actually be better than what we've been getting through Music Today? This is the plan, however things may not always work out as planned. The tickets available on MusicToday for our presales are entirely up to the venue. Third Day does their level best to get the best tickets for our presales, and the venues give us what they want to. Some venues/promoters give us some really great seats. Some hold the best back for themselves. (That is why sometimes the seats are better on the regular sale.) We are at their mercy. MusicToday can only sell what Third Day gives them to sell, and Third Day can only give them to sell what they are given by the venues/promoters.

Remember, you don't have to buy the seats the presale offers you. I know most of you know that, but some who don't buy tickets very often might not. Face it. It's very nerve-wracking to buy tickets. You are racing against unseen opponents, and that little invisible clock that tells you "You have 2:00 minutes to complete this page or you will lose these tickets." In a flash, you have to reason out if you will be better off buying these or trying for the seats behind door #2. Last week we were trying for better seats in Houston. Just for fun, I strapped on my heart rate monitor. My heart rate went up 40 beats per minute just with the nervousness of trying to buy tickets! So yeah, it's hard to go in there and work the system and get good seats. But just remember, when they give you row Q and you want row A, dump those tickets and try again, and again, and again. If they don't offer you any seats you want to sit in, walk away. There will be another chance, and yes, maybe for better seats, when the public sale opens.

And about the Houston show, lots of us got third row seats in the presale. When Jamie, Bari, and I went into the pubic sale to try to buy better seats (yes, I'm spoiled. What can I say? Front row is much better for taking pictures. :D ) There weren't any. TicketServant.org shows you what seats are available in each section. There was one front row seat and one second row seat in a couple of the sections, but the rest were about twelve rows back or farther. The very best seats went to KSBJ's multi-concert package deal and to our pre-sale. In Greenville, the venue/promoter was not as generous.

The complaints about MusicToday's rude personnel have been reported.

I am amazed at the tiny number of people having problems getting into their account. There's only been two people report through email that they couldn't get in, and a few here. (Thank You, Lord.) Everything seems to be running very smoothly.

I am checking on when the packages will be/were mailed out, and when you can expect to be receiving them.

I've posted the corrections in the dates of the concerts on the Wired radio in other threads.

Now that you've had your memberships for a month, are there any new questions or concerns?

Still wondering, for the future, whether there will be a 'Family' membership option. Perhaps it's too early for you to know such things.

I've answered your log in question in the other thread. :)

The Wired boards are only for the tour concierge to post announcements for those attending the shows, such as when and where the meet and greets will be. They will not be like these boards. I don't even think we will be able to post on them, and if we will be able to, it will only be to ask the tour concierge questions pertaining to the show.

So I assume when there's a tour.

Please forgive me for being dense :o , but I'm still a little confused as to which is correct. Does that mean that if you hit more than one show on a tour, you can actually sign up for the M&G at BOTH of them? IE: In December, I'm going to both Greenville and Fayetteville the next day. CAN I sign up for both?

Remember, you don't have to buy the seats the presale offers you. I know most of you know that, but some who don't buy tickets very often might not. Face it. It's very nerve-wracking to buy tickets. Heh, yeah, when I know tickets are going on sale on a given morning, I go into full on battle mode - heart rate picking up, full cup of coffee waiting at the side, browser window open, mouse fingers warmed up, etc. about 15 minutes ahead of time.

The one thing I DO prefer about MusicToday vs TM is that they don't have that "you have 2:00 minutes to decide" window of opportunity, at least not one that they post. So a LITTLE of the pressure is off when you go ticket hunting via the presale. Hate how it takes them forever to actually print and mail the tickets though, in comparison to TM. I ordered a ticket for Fayetteville both through the presale and through the general sale, and I've already got my TM general sale ticket, which was ordered, naturally, after the presale ticket, already in hand.

Ticket availability definitely varies. With Greenville, with the exception of a select couple of front row seats, all the presale seats were in the back sections. I opted to NOT buy any of those at all, expecting that there had to be much better seats from the general sale. Which there were, I ended up with 2nd row center. Fayetteville on the other hand, made seats available in the first 5 rows, so not knowing if I would be able to do better in the general sale, took one in the 4th row, which is pretty good, but like Corrine, really DO like the unobstructed view from the first row, especially wanting to get a better seat considering the drive time to get there, so figured I'd shoot for something better at the general sale, and wrangled front row, with a buyer already set up for the 4th row seat from the presale. I'm pretty happy. Broke but happy. :)

Long story short though, I think out of all the times I've ordered tickets from the presale, I've only kept them and used them once, all the other times I did better at the general sale.

Corrine, did you say we WERE going through a different vendor starting with the Spring tour? With management getting a little more control over the availability of the tickets?

Thanx.

I don't think I've ever ended up with better tickets in the regular sale. (I might have once, but I can't say for certain.) I guess KSBJ is pretty good to us in Houston in giving us presale tickets.

We are staying with MusicToday. That is who Wired is set up through. Music Today was started and is owned by the Dave Matthews Band. I don't know if there is another service out there that offers band and fan clubs what they offer. Every company has their good points and bad points. The problem is that when something bad happens to us, it is magnified, and it becomes all we can see about them. And several people have had problems with Music Today's customer service. But we don't know that another company, or every company out there that we might switch to might not be half as good as Music Today. Yes, we've had some problems with them, but other than that, they've been a good company. I know Third Day did their research when they chose a new company. I'm pretty impressed with how well Wired is going so far. Other than the shirt size mix up, it's been very smooth.

Hi,

I know I'm a bit behind on the times - I only found out about Wired today - oh yeah, I know, 'duh'...

A fan club that you have to pay to join, sounds a bit like buying someone's love to me! Oh well... we won't ever join it - I guess there are conversations there that we'll miss out on - does it mean that these boards will die eventually and only those who pay can play?

Then I read that you can only get small t-shirts! That is unbelievable when many of the fans are older and would only laugh at a small t-shirt! If I'd signed up I'd be really annoyed with that one.

Will the guys still come here sometimes?

Just so you know, the boards on Wired are just for use during a Third Day tour, to get info about meet and greets and such. The Wired boards are not like these boards for everyday use. These boards are not going to change at all!!! And I am sure the guys will continue to stop by from time to time!!
Also, it is not true that the Wired t-shirts only come in small. It is a long story, but a Gomer was told that by a very uninformed customer service rep at Music Today. Anyone joining the fan club gets to chose which size t-shirt they want!!
I hope this helps, but please don't fret, these boards are not going anywhere!!!

Wired is not so much a fan club as it is a service. But really it's a traditional fan club, like most bands have. You pay money, they send you stuff. Nothing that we have now will change at all, but more is added. If I were you, Sharon, I might get one membership to Wired, just so the LJ family could listen to the Wired radio. We have about 40 or so shows up on there now, and when the tours start, they will be adding more. So you all will be able to hear the shows, even if you can't be there. I think that's particularly cool. :) But no, you won't be left out in the cold. The Gomer family will still live on the boards as we've always done. :)
