Mine was John Cox (R). As far as candidates who have a chance, the closest to my views was Sam Brownback (R).

Interesting- I left all of the choices at medium importance, and Tom Tancredo (never heard of him) came out on top, with a 95% match. Second place was a tie @90.48% match to John Cox(unknown to me), Mitt Romney and Fred Thompson. After carefully re-reading the questions and changing an answer or two, Mitt and fred were my top matches, once again with a 90.48% of my positions. Not suprising (to me, anyway) the closest Democrat candidate match my opinions at 42.86%.
When I put a few high priorities on things, Romney edged up to 92.86%, and Thompson slid down to 85.71%. John Edwards was the only Democrat to remain @42.86%.
I did not track the changes, but on the third try, Duncan Hunter and Fred Thompson (@92.45% each) came out on top. Clinton and biden were the top dog democrat matches, each at 28.30%.

oh NO! After I input my criteria (not selecting a candidate), I came up with Mike Gravel, but I will not vote for him.

Not surprisingly at all, my top match was Ron Paul, a 92.59% match :) The 2nd closest to 'match' was John McCain at 57.41%.

I don't think this test is specific enough, though. I have complex political views where I'm economically liberal but socially conservative. Plus I'm not voting for Mitt Romney...there's no way.

clemson, your results do back up a thought I had. With your posts on the board, I pegged you as a Republican. And then I saw that you were considering Obama and I said "Huh?"

I probably do line up way more Republican, but I hate a lot of conservative views on economics and healthcare...I'm not for universal healthcare, but Obama had some pretty good ideas about how to fix it. Plus Obama doesn't support gay marriage, but civil unions. Marriage would still be between a man and a woman in his book. He's thought hard about abortion and believes it's a woman's choice...I don't agree with him, but think about it...Giuliani's probably going to get the Republican nomination, and he is socially liberal and economically conservative, the very opposite of what I am. My only real hope is Obama, who I know is a man of faith (probably more than the top conservative candidates) and who I think is a little less liberal than a lot of Democrats when it comes to social issues because of his faith. He gave a speech about how politics and religion should interact with one another...it's on his website if you want to watch it.
The only thing about Obama is he is clueless about foreign policy...like talking about moving our troops from Iraq to Afghanistan and then invading Pakistan...that was pretty stupid, and most military leaders told him so.

Yeah? I vote for who I can respect, not who the polls tell me is going to win. If more people did this, maybe people like Huckabee would have a shot.

What I'm saying is, I won't be able to vote until at least March of next year...I'm not even sure if I can vote in the primary, whenever it is.

I can't in good conscience vote for Romney but Huckabee has been gaining ground with this undecided voter...

Depending on your state it can very from January-June.......Since you like Clemson, if you live in S. Carolina then your primary is I think Jan. 19th, but don't quote me on that date.

yeah, you'd have to be registered as a Rep or Dem in order to vote in their respective primaries. :) You probably knew that already though.
I got 81.40% for Mitt Romney. But I don't know anything about him. If I had to chose right now, I'd vote for Huckabee. Again, too bad he most likely won't win primary.
Scary enough, I do like some of John Edwards ideas about education. . .

I disagree. He raised her. He is responsible for her. During the 2004 Presidential race, Keyes referred to Mary Cheney as a "selfish hedonist". I believe if you are going to criticize others' parenting, you ought to look at your own. I think it was sad that after Maya Keyes came out, her father refused to continue to pay for her education.

I like Ron Paul, especially his stance against the UN and his thoughts on homeschooling (as well as his pro-life status, but, that's a given).
Huckabee also strikes me as decent, though not my first choice by any means (the test matched me fairly closely with him as well, though Paul was the first match)
Brownback scares me. The man wants to start a regime...

New York Senator Hillary Clinton (D) but at an 59.49% match, I would interpret that none of the candidates match me.
I have enough problems of my own lol - there is likely to be an election in the United Kingdom very soon and I cannot find a party to vote for...
...where is 'The Common Sense, Decent Rights for All and Morality Party' when you need it (in the UK that is)?

I got Hillary Clinton too and I was like, "Your kidding!' I don't much care for her. If I went dem, it would be for Obama or Edwards.
The thing is, there are issues I might agree with the Dems on and issues I might agree with the Reps on and by the same token, some I disagree thoroughly with. We need more moderate, third-party choices.
One thing important to me, as to many chronically ill, is the issue of Health Care. There needs to be some kind of reform.
