The Unknown Gomer

I'm thinking I probably just wore it out, since I've been using the same 1gb card in my PDA since I bought that PDA about three years ago, and have been using it fairly regularly to store my mp3s to play back at my desk for a while now.
It apparently went kablooey this afternoon. Now the PDA won't recognize it (it tells me it now needs to be formatted, and when I tell it to go ahead, it accepts my "okay" tap, but then doesn't do it), my USB plug in card reader on my PC doesn't see it, and as a last resort, I stuck it in my digital camera to at least try to format it there to allow me to reformat it on my PC afterwards, and the camera won't do anything with it either.
Any way to get it back? All I had on it was music, which is all stored on my PC and is recoverable, so if I need to reformat it, no problem there, but I can't figure out how to get anything to read it to be able to reformat it.
Or do I need to officially declare 11:30pm the official time o' death and figure I have to buy a new one at this point?
Any helpful advice would be welcome, since I've never had a CF card die on me before. *sob!* It looks just like it did when it was alive! :P
Thanks.
