View Full Version : How old do you look?

I have found the best ego boost! It's this website http://ageproject.specialsnowfla ke.com/ (thank you sandyandporter for the correction). You put in a picture of yourself, and then people who visit the site try to guess you age. Go look at it now. You will see how it works. It's also fun to guess other people's ages.

First, I put in a picture that I think makes me look a lot younger than I am. This one.

87677

30 people have guessed and my average age guestimate is 37! That's almost ten years younger than I actually am! What's more, I check it often, so I am watching the numbers almost daily, and most people are guessing right at 37. Wow.

Next, I decided to put in a picture that, while it's a pretty good picture, looks more like I normally look in public. (Not my stay at home with no make up on look. ;) ) I thought people would start guessing closer to my actual age if they saw how I actually look. So I put in this picture.

87678

Guess what? They are guessing a little younger on that one! 24 people guessed and the average age is 36! Wow again. I never expected that. But it makes me feel really good about myself!

I think next I'll put up a picture that shows me in a normal stay at home mode. That should scare a few people. :P

Go try it for yourself. Make sure you pick a good picture though. And no cheating by altering your photo to take out the lines and whatnot. Put your own true face out there and see how old strangers think you may be.

I put my mom's picture up. So far they only think she's a few years younger than she is, but that's better than a few years older than she is!

Sharon, put your picture up! I don't think you look 47 at all!

People like that, that guess 99 years old, ruin it. They make your average go up. But it does take a few days before you get any results. You just have to be patient.

You do look 18!

I finally figured out how to get rid of double chins in photos. You have to tilt your head up a little (or forward if you are taller than the others in the picture). So the next time someone looks down their nose at you, they may only be trying to hide their double chins! :P

I'm flattered. But I'm far from 18. I laugh at my 13 yr old friend, when they see me, they tell him, wow is that your mom, I wish my mom looked like her...LOL and my son just rolls his eyes and says my mom just looks like mom. Wonder what my grandbaby will think of a young grandma.LOL

What a stoopid site.... I now have repetitive strain injuriy to my forefinger from guessing on so many people's ages lol.

Interestingly, I guessed within 2 years of the correct for all the people I guessed at, or if I was far away from the correct age, I guessed the same as the average guess for that person.

PS: I wish the pictures were a tad larger, at my age I had to lean forward to make out the piccies!

most interesting.....

I found this....it made me laugh....maybe she was young looking but this makes it sound like she was not much to look at...
************************* *************************
Cleopatra was 17 or 18 when she became the queen of Egypt. She was far from beautiful, despite her glamorous image today. She is depicted on ancient coins with a long hooked nose and masculine features. Yet she was clearly a very seductive woman. She had an enchantingly musical voice and exuded charisma. She was also highly intelligent. She spoke nine languages (she was the first Ptolemy pharaoh who could actually speak Egyptian!) and proved to be a shrewd politician.

I read something about this too - there are pictures online of her on coins when she was both young and old and she certainly was no Helen of Troy.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/worldnews.html?in_article _id=436019&in_page_id=1811
For thousands of years Cleopatra has been immortalised as a beautiful seductress with goddess-like looks.

But it seems she may not have been as attractive as first thought after archaeologists discovered a 2,000 year old coin hidden in a bank vault.

Far from the glamorous Hollywood image cut by Elizabeth Taylor in 1963 the last Pharoah had a shallow forehead, pointed chin, thin lips and a witch-like nose.

On the reverse of the coin her lover Mark Anthony fares little better. Unlike Richard Burton he had peculiar bulging eyes, a hook nose and an incredibly thick neck.

http://ancienthistory.about.com/cs/cleopatrabio/a/cleopatraappear.htm
Unfortunately, Cleopatra, strapped by great debt incurred under the reign of her father, Ptolemy Auletes (Ptolemy the flute-player), thought it imprudent to mint gold coins, so only lesser metals were used to commemorate her reign. The imprint on gold would have survived the centuries better than baser metals. Only ten individual coins from the reign of Cleopatra have survived in very good, but not mint condition, according to Guy Weill Goudchaux, in his article "Was Cleopatra Beautiful?" in the British Museum's publication "Cleopatra of Egypt: From History to Myth." This is significant because coins have provided excellent records of the faces of many monarchs. In one set of coins Cleopatra and Mark Antony look very similar. In another set, she has "an enormous neck and the features of a bird of prey."

"For her beauty, as we are told, was in itself not altogether incomparable, nor such as to strike those who saw her; but converse with her had an irresistible charm, and her presence, combined with the persuasiveness of her discourse and the character which was somehow diffused about her behaviour towards others, had something stimulating about it. There was sweetness also in the tones of her voice; and her tongue, like an instrument of many strings, she could readily turn to whatever language she pleased..."

Plutarch, Life of Antony (XXVII)
