I am 30 this year on December 7:eek:
LOL
Nah I dont think its an old age. I just forget that I am a 'grown up' now. ;)
All of my friends have passed into the realm of 30 year olds and each had a BIG bash to celebrate.
My birthday often gets left out...people are away or too busy for Christmas...whatever. I am wanting to have a special party too, but I dont see that it will happen. I dont mind. It just means I can remain 29 for ever:P
Anyway, I was thinking and wondering how my Gomer buddies celebrated their 30th?
Did it mean anything special to you?
I have noticed that a lot of my friends of whom have been called into full time Ministry or a form of ministry have been called around the time that they were 30. Maybe its because they finally began to mature:rolleyes: ;)
But for me, being 30 is something special. What about you?

I had a fab 30th - I had a joint one with my brother in law. We had a Hollywood theme. This meant some of us girlies got really togged up like we were going to the Oscars. Most folk dressed as charcters from the movies. Mark was the Tinman - hilarious. He was baking hot, it was the end of August and with silver face paint etc......you get the picture! Our cakes were grey squarea which Charlie and I put our hand prints on - to look like the Walk of Fame.
For Mark's 30th (22nd Dec) we had a Mexican theme. We made our living room into a mexican bar - we even made salloon doors out of cardboard. It was fab - we had The 3 Amigos on the tv - muted, and Mexican music playing.
We played silly games like pin the moustachio on the
Mexican!! We made a big 3 0 cake and made chillis out of red and green icing to stick on the top. I'll have to send you some pics Joan.
We like our themed parties. You should see what we do for Joel's :D ;) !!
Anyway. Turning 30 was fun for us. We didn't feel old - I can't say our ministry has changed - there's time before we're 40 though (not much in Mark's case:eek: !!).

I have a history of quiet occasions for my significant birthdays, my 21st was again, a family thing, Phantom of the Opera and dinner out. Very nice!!

Nothing. Not a happy time in my life, going through stuff. Won't go into it here. However, I am turning 50 in August, as if there's somebody out there I haven't already told. I plan on partying my brains out.

No, it was Rob Guest. I've also seen Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat which I love. If I lived closer to the city, I'd be a bit of a play buff I think, I'll take that entertainment over movies or the pub anyday!

I read in a blog that Mac, Tai and Mark went and saw Lord Of The Rings as a Theater show...now THAT would be cool!
There is no culture in my town...*sigh*....

I don't remember what I did for my 30th Birthday. I was married, and childless, and I don't know many of the people I knew then (which is a good thing.)
My 40th was good - a bush dance and BBQ at a local venue. My 50th was great, It was at the Blue Tongue Lizard Cafe, which is an edgy/ slightly alternative place, with my nearest and dearest and a pianist who played Jazz, and Blues, and Pop songs, and we sang along. I played recordings of Happy Birthday, as sung by two Gomer friends - R T Mark, who used to be on here and spoke to my friends, and Sharon, who sang with great aplomb and lots of humour. :D We started leaving about midnight, and finally left about 1:30am, because we kept on talking.

My husband threw me a surprise party for my 30th and even had my family who couldn't be there call and he put it on the speaker phone so it was like they were there. That was really cool! And my friends at my office decorated my desk area with black balloons and streamers and gave me a cake.
My 40th was much more low key, just dinner with the family. But when I turn 50 in 7 years, I plan to have a big party!

I don't remember my 30th. Best birthday was a few years ago. My brother and I went to an Arizona Diamondbacks baseball game. We were at field level between home and first base. Lots of fun.

Can't remember what I did for my 30th but do remember giving Kevin a big hug cos I was grateful that I was married before 30, somehow that was a big thing for me...
We saw Rob Guest play the lead role in Les Mis many years ago in Auckland, New Zealand, he has the most wonderful voice in the world I think... he would have been great as the phantom - I think likely better than Michael Crawford! :)

I know what you mean, Beth. I'll be there in 5 yrs. My other ones have mostly been family, going to movies, and dinner. Nothing spectacular. I like it that way. Maybe at my 50th I'll have a big blowout!!!!:D

I guess I've just never been into birthdays- we'd been married less than two years then.
40 was no biggie, and I'm not planning anything special for 50. We're just not into parties.

Did nothing - had dinner at home with my wife, that's all I wanted. I'm not into parties much - people tend not to come to them.

Yeah, I can't remember my 30th either. It was ages ago, but I do remember the Thanksgiving right before I turned 30 (December 10, 1989). I was manager of a fast-food restaurant and it was a tradition to have a Thanksgiving holiday "tag" football game. Got injured playing with a bunch of teens & twenty year olds and made it much, much worse by "toughing it out" for the remainder of the game. Spent about 2 weeks after that on crutches. The cool thing about it though was that Tim Brown is a cousin of one of the employees (this was in Mesquite just outside of Dallas) and he played with us that day.

My 30th birthday? Hmmmmm, what happened? It's all a blur, and yet there was no alcohol involved. Let's see, on my 30th birthday I was the mother of a 4 year old, a 3 year old and a 2 month old. I'm sure my biggest birthday wish was sleep. I'll turn 40 next year. My husband said something about a big party, but I think I'd rather low-key.

Got married when I was 29, so on my 30th birthday I woke up and hugged Kevin with a big smile on my face! :)
I've never been big on keeping track of my age but when I turned 29 I started to feel a little panicked about turning 30.... ....so I decided to just jump out of that plane and "be" 30 immediately....skipped 29 and went to 30 straight away...that way I had a year to get used to it.......of course now I have a hard time remembering how old I am....have to do the math every time....
