We're interested in what led you to buy Chronology I. Was it the DVD portion or did you buy it for the songs?

I've only watched the DVD once, but am playing the tracks over and over - loving it!

------ Just adding a little after Corrine's comment further down the thread ------

I bought it for the music. The DVD is a bonus. And, yes, it's a 3D recording = MUST HAVE!

I'd have to say what really raised my interest was the old and hard to find stuff however, I would have bought it anyway merely because well, it's Third Day and isn't that enough?

I already had most (ok ... pretty much all) of the audio but I bought it #1 for the DVD and #2 to a "compiled" place for all the stuff..

Same reason I bought the same WYA CD in three different covers, PLUS the dual disc.

And the same reason those folks gave for climbing Mount Everest...

"Because it was there."

I bought it because I am a Gomer, and that's my job!!!!!!!

I do have to say, the DVD was the best part!

I think I would have bought it for Blackbird alone, now that I have it. I love the DVD portion, but like, Kevin, I've only watched it once. The DVD portion definitely was an incentive, though. I wouldn't have bought a "Greatest Hits" album unless the songs were reworked or live. I have my own versions of Greatest Hits, and a lot of songs that have become "hits" aren't necessarily my favorites, so a greatest hits package isn't enough for me. I like what 3D did with CV1 and bought it because of the extras (incl. remixes, etc.).

Make sure you are answering the question according to why you bought it, or what you were most excited about when you bought it, and not what you think now.

I was going to make the poll multiple choice, so you could choose more than one answer, and include "I buy everything Third Day puts out" but I think that's pretty much a given for most people on here. :D

I have not bought it as I can't pay out twice for the same thing BUT having read stuff on the boards my wife and I can't wait to get hold of it because of the DVD stuff!;)

Corrine,

When I heard the songs were re-worked, had to pick it up. I know I have all the cd's, but a "remix" to "nothin at all", and a re-working of "thief" was to hard to resist

It's natural that we will listen to the tracks more than we watch the DVD, because watching takes time and attention to sit down and do. But we can listen to the tracks while we are in the car, exercising, or doing anything.

So what I hear some of you saying is that you bought it for the DVD part, but you find that you are enjoying the music part quite a lot (maybe more than you thought you would?). Is this right?

I think it's hard to say whether I bought CV1 for the CD or DVD because I have enjoyed both so much! Hearing the remixes, the new recordings, the bonus tracks and the DVD - what a great package! I do feel many people were concerned this was just a greatest hits collection when it was first announced, but has turned out to be so much more!

I honestly bought it because I "should". It's a Third Day album! But I might not have tried to get it so quickly if it didn't have the DVD.

Having given this some more thought, since you seem to be looking for something over and above "just because 3D did it" ;) had it been a 1 disc flat out re-release of the same versions of all the songs, with no NEW content, I probably would NOT have bought it, or at the very least waited until I could have gotten it as a freebie on Amazon.com with my Visa points.

Had it come - with remixes like it does now - as just a CD, without the DVD disc, I still would have bought it for the sake of the new versions of the songs. So I guess I consider the DVD to be more of a bonus perk than a reason for actually buying the CD. Especially considering that I've not actually WATCHED the dvd yet.

So I voted for "I bought it primarily for the CD". With the DVD being a cool bonus that I'll probably never have time to watch.

They won't take away my DVD on Volume 2 because I said that, will they? :P

Yes. Especially blackbird, holy smokes that song is awesome!

That was tough, because I really like the new versions and remix's, I love the version of I've always loved you. But......... the video's and other things are really worth the price and much more. I'm sorry to sound like such a dope, but I really think the first volume was put together in the perfect fashion, it was really well done. You can tell a lot of time and thought really went into this. I'm sorry, I'm 50/50 on this one. However, with that being said, let's take this opportunity to include a full length concernt of the WYA tour, and a live version of Innocent! :D

Yep.........I've just about worn a groove in Track 13 myself!

The Old School Southern Rock sound is what got me hooked on Third Day
in the first place and like I said in some other thread around here...........

I'm Diggin' it!

Never bought it. Doubt I will. I just dislike re-mixes of songs.

Well it was both the CD & DVD that made me buy it. I was interested in hearing the new mix's of My Hope is You & Thief; and really really wanted to see the bootleg video's of the band.

It is a mission (or should I say obsession) of mine to own all of the Third Day cd's. I have all but Southern Tracks (so if anyone has one to sell - PM me!) I have to say though that I have yet to watch the DVD - but I have been playin the grooves off the CD.

The DVD's are great, I love the watching a book that opens and reads to me, makes me laugh and say "oh my gosh" repeatedly and my husband too. I felt as though I watched Third Day grow up, and it was narrated by none other than, Third Day. The DVD is awesome.

The CD is in the CD player and has not been taken out. The remixes are great, I do like the original raw sound of some of the songs oppose to the strings. However, when Mac begins to sing them, strings, what strings.:)

I think I would like to hear Rock remixes rocked out without strings, how you would rock them out today oppose to back in the day. The Third Day sound has grown up and I just bet, say if for example they totally rre-eleased C#5 in with a mature rock sound (it already sounds good), oh my gosh, I shutter to think....

Just my thoughts!

I didn't buy it. I was blessed with CV1 as a gift. However, since then I have bought a copy. But I didn't buy it for any of the reasons on the poll. I received a blessing,,so I have blessed someone else.

That said. Had I bought my own copy. It would have been for the video :) To see what I have previously not seen.

I got it because I want everything Third Day. At first I must admit I didn't think that it was a good idea because so often greatest hits are the swan song for the band. I changed my mind after I listened to it the first time. I must admit though that my favorite part of the package is the video. I am kind of a late bloomer. Didn't come to understand the truth till 2000 when I was reborn and saw my first Third Day show in 2001. So the video lets me in on some of the things that I missed.

I would've gotten around to it "someday" had it only been an audio compilation. However, the DVD was the kicker to getting it now, rather than waiting for it to be a birthday present.

Had to think about it. I have watched the DVD several times and enjoyed it very much. HOWEVER! I have played the cd absolutely thin, especially in the car. Can't watch the DVD in the car, my driving's bad enough as it is.

I bought it primarily (at the beginning) for the DVD section...though I couldn't wait to hear the audio end of it either. But now I love both. I have watched the DVD numerous times and have worn my CD out lately. I love the new renditions of these songs!

SmileyFreak1981

I bought it for both. I knew the old-skool vids would be cool to watch (and they are...the commentary is great!) I also heard about the remixes before hand, and heard clips and what-not. Theif is like a brand new song, and Who I Am is one of my favorite Third Day tracks of all time.

Well...I voted the DVD. I was especially excited about that! :D I really wanted to see the old footage, the 1st shows etc. They are treasures for me. I am hoping that there is some real Gomer related stuff on the CV2 DVD. Not that I would be in it of course, but because the Gomers have been an essential part of 3D during that period and onwards.

I was also very excited about the music. I had the CDs and yes, I was gonna buy the cd regardless. ;) I didnt go crazy and buy all three versions of WYA- although I wanted to! But anything Third Day, I just know will be good and I will get it.
Mind you, should I not like it, I will not pretend. I will be honest. Having said that, I think these guys are getting better and better at their craft, and I have a lot of faith in their ability.

In regard to the music on CV1, I was excited to see what song selections they chose. I dont have Southern Tracks, and was ecstatic at having Long Time Coming and She Sings In Riddles. Gosh - isnt the music of that song just so hauntingly beautiful! I also tried not to read much about the CD/DVD so it would be a surprise when I got it. I had no idea that so many songs were re-mixed or completely re-done. I loved that I could listen to the CD on line because I had pre-ordered. It is of my favourite CDs and I am very proud of the guys. They are my big brothers and I adore them....why wouldnt I be proud! LOL
Oh...and I think simply having the re-recording of Theif is reason enough to buy the whole album. It is simply magic!

Hope that helped with your opinion collection....sorry I went all sappy! LOL

I bought it cause I had to have it lol! but most of all for the music, I mean the DVD is great, but the prime reason was to have the collection of the remixed / rerecordded songs!! IT ROCKS!

Sorry, to answer your question :o

I bought Chronology because I could not wait to see the videos! I just knew they would get the best they had and that they would put it together well.

It was more than I thought, Happy Happy I bought one and then some.

Mostly the songs, because it was something new to have!

The DVD was a draw too - and I think it's awesome, listening to their commentaries and having the vids on disk.

I bought it because I want these guys to keep making music for (many) years to come. It's kind of like the "if you build it, they will come" theory.

"If you buy it", they will keep singing, playing and recording for us.

If I had to narrow it down though, between buying it for the songs/music, or the dvd...I'd have to say the dvd. I have most of the older recordings, but its nice to have a lot of those songs on one cd...

I bought it because I like that they came out with a collection with their best loved songs on it. I really enjoy watching the dvd, the Dove Award performances are awesome. I was at the 2006 Dove Awards when they sang Cry Out to Jesus. I love the Bootlegs, I had to laugh because I didn't recognize Mac at all. I really enjoy listening to the cd as well. My favorite song on the cd is the new version of Thief. I love the video for Your Love Oh Lord. Looking forward to see you guys in Edmonton at the end of January for our worship conference called Breakforth. Love Marjan:D

I bought the cd because I recently made the decision to become a Christian again, I was raised in the church but turned away as a teenager. I am a musician so naturally I am being drawn to Christian music and I wanted to check out some different bands. I found the cd at Wal Mart and picked it up and loved it! The songs are great, the dvd is great. Its awesome that a band can praise the Lord and still rock out!

I bought them both at the same time, firstly because it was Third Day! Secondly, because they came with DVD's so I got to see some videos as I have never seen any of there videos. Don't get them on Positively GAC and don't get too many Christian channels on DISH. (Somebody suggest where I can watch them!) Lastly, because there were some songs on there from the cd's that I can no longer get like Southern Tracks.

(from what i could hear. Wal*Mart speakers aren't the best) and i bought it. i asked one of my cousins if she had ever heard of them. she said she heard a few of their songs and they were really good. i listened and i am a new fan. Can anyone tell me the meaning of the intersecting circle?
Thanks!

i think it means the world coming together. not sure tho. that's what i've heard. the circle is the world and the "lines" are going into each other.
