I was browsing around Gomertopia (http://gomertopia.typepad.com/) and saw this:

I'm assuming it's a pre-recorded message... but, stranger things have been known to happen, so my curiosity is piqued...

I signed up for the same thing last month, except that it was a phone call from tobyMac when Portable Sounds was released. It was a recording, but it was still pretty cool to have it on my voicemail when I got out of a meeting with my boss.

Yes, it's a recording. Can you imagine if they had to call the thousands of people who sign up? :D But wouldn't that be cool?
"Hi, this is Mac Powell from Third Day."
"Hey Mac! How's it going?"
"Oh, not bad. Just getting ready for the Glory Revealed tour in a couple of days."
"Cool! I'm looking forward to that . . . "

Between them, the guys could do it in a day (if they kept the message short) .....and it would be so much more fun! ...maybe next time ...;)
Actually, in retrospect - it wouldn't work........... we wouldn't let them off the line would we? ...and them being so good natured -they would'nt drop the phone on us.......would they? ;-)

I think you have a good point. We would either be in shock or having a long conversation while they are trying to make the next call - lol.

Maybe that would be a good contest idea

Have you ever seen these guys in a meet and greet line? They want to have a 15 minute conversation with everyone! It's a real gift how they can focus on the person they are talking to and make them feel like they are the only one there, but it just wouldn't do for the phone calls. :D But you are right, Mandy, it would have been a great contest prize!

I've noticed that, too. :)
It would be hard to be meeting strangers so often, and having to make conversation with them.

We're not strangers - we're gomer family and God's family so that must make it easier...........even though some of us are a bit weird and wacky... ;)

^Aww, thanks :)
I've been known to ask stupid questions before...I guess it's not the last time :)
I'm in class when I get the call (Lifespan, 6-9pm) so I'll just have to tell my prof I'm getting an important phone call from a family member (Hey, UNCLE Mac..it MUST count) and I need to take it as soon as it comes in. ;)

The message should record on your answering machine, which is better than answering it. That way, you can listen to it over and over again.

You can't keep the recordings for long if it's the telephone company's voice mail service though (not here anyway...)
It can be frustrating as I wanted to keep a message my dad left before he died.

Ack! Forgot I was going to sign up for this. I went ahead and had it sent to my cell phone voice mail.
Maybe THAT will be the incentive I need to pull out the instruction manual and figure out how it works. :D I probably still have a zillion of messages on there from Betty when she was trying to get up with me at the Columbia show last November, and still have no idea how to retrieve them.
So typical of me. I can do things like build a computer from the motherboard up, and hook up a surround sound Bose home theater sound system, but the voice mail on my cell phone? :o Fugettaboudit. Haven't a clue.

I just got the call... it's a message from Mac... the only downside is if your voicemail picks up, you miss the first part! ah well! :)

^*LOL*
It was cute :)
It was just Mac, & it started off as a regular conversation, like "Hey, this is Mac Powell" & I started squealing & screaming. LOL I was SO excited. But it was sweet. And it ended with something like "On behalf of Third Day, have a great day" *YAY*
Thanks for the :D Mac! I love youguys!

I was out of town on a business trip and let it go to voice mail since the caller was unidentified. How cool to listen later and hear Mac's voice! I have it saved of course!
