View Full Version : LOST: Season III

Since I can't find the last Season III thread, I'll start a new one...

Where is everybody? Did you all give up on LOST, like I feel like doing? Is anybody out there? Does anybody care? :p

I have to admit, I'm still hanging in there, but after every episode, my son and I look at each other and roll our eyes and say we miss the first season.:p I'm overloaded with questions and am a bit tired of being frustrated. There's just not enough continuity with the characters...the story is too fragmented for my tired mind.

Any LOST enthusiasts left?

i still love it. when i can watch it. i'll admit, it's not as great as the first season, but i think they'll be sure to make next season good. it'll have to be good because they had to decide officially how many seasons to do so the writers knew how fast to take the plot. i'm sure they won't tell us how many seasons there will be, cuz where's the fun in that? hehe. but i just have this feeling charlie is going to go. i don't know why. but the show needs a very major character to go. it'll help rescue it.

I think its getting really good but really strange
I don't think that a major character needs to go
I am hooked on the show
I love it

I'm still watching every week. I think season 2 was by far the best. The only thing that bothers me about this season is that very little happens in each episode. Each week we get about 5-10 minutes of real good plot action. But I'm hooked and I'll be there until the end!

I'm still a fan... love the show.

Anyone doubting this season do Not miss the next two episodes. I hear that some amazing stuff is coming up.

I am not entirely sure what season we are up to in Aus - they are locked up in cages outside at the moment if that helps and 'whats his face' - the one who always needs a good shave and wash, just had an imaginary pace maker put in by the insane people. Cause I kinda lost interest and haven't consistently watched, I am (for want of a better word) LOST!
What annoyed me most was how they'd advertise, "you'll be blown away by the first 5 minutes of next weeks show", etc, so you'd watch and go, so what about that blew me away.
I think the writers have tried to make things too complicated. Are these people ever going to get off this island - oh, and is someone having to press that stupid button all the time still or not.

You have summed up, in your post why "Lost" confuses so many people. If you miss too many episodes it takes a lot to get caught back up.

You're at the beginning of season 3. And if the first 5 minutes of season 3 Didn't "blow you away" then you should probably stop watching it because that was one of the best moments of the series Ever.

P.S. Oh, and no they don't need to press the button anymore. Hatch blew up, big purple light everywhere... and Desmond (the naked Scottish guy) just became a lot more interesting.

I'm still watching, because I've invested too much time not to...:D My son and I watch it together, but we've both realized that for every question they answer, we have 20 more...I've forgotten half of them. What I don't like about LOST is that they have way too many characters going. You'll see someone for a few weeks then not see them for even longer. It's too choppy.
And what happened to the monsters - or whatever they were - and the thing that killed Eko? Right now, Kate & John are annoying the heck out of me....I think I'm just tired of them. Too many little things going on. Ha, ha...have I complained enough?

I will definitely watch the next two, River.

My problem with talking about this show on a message board is, my initial reaction after every show is : What the heck? I don't even know what my questions are anymore...:D

I am a mother of two teenagers...my mind is fragile enough...:D

IMO, they leave too many things undone when introducing more. They should tie a few more things up as they go along...it wouldn't hurt. I wonder if they diliberately leave things unanswered.

They do tie things up... but most of the time they do ask more questions for every question that they answer. It's a mystery program though, so it kinda has to do that.

Whenever people feel like they're not getting answers from "Lost", I tell them to go back and watch the pilot episode and remember all of the questions that came from that episode. Almost all of them are answered.

So Jack and blondie are brother and sister huh? Why? Something has got to come of that... Locke has gotten to the point of just annoying. He blew up the only ice? (LOL) Lied about know there were explosives? I think I'm with you Diane, I watch with my son and have invested too much time to just quit now but if I miss an episode I'm no longer heart broken. And if they start back with the reruns I really don't think I'd care.

PS What book was Sayer reading last episode...remember when stuff like that mattered to future shows?

I just refuse to give up on Lost! I have never missed an episode and I continue to look forward to it each week. I have to admit though - like yall - that at the end of each show my husband and I look at each other and are like "man - what was that???" lol It seems to be getting better each week - finally!

What did yall think about Jack playing football at the end of last week? Man - did you see the look on their faces?

I never watched Lost until Feb. of this year when I was staying with my son and daughter-in-law. They watch it every week. I had no idea what was going on, so over the next week I watched all of seasons 1 and 2. I missed the first part of season 3, but I'm pretty much caught up now. And I am hooked.

I agree that Locke is getting annoying. He's acting like he's going to try and take over or something. And Jack playing football like that was a surprise. Why wasn't he still locked up? Has he made friends with them and decided to abandon the other survivors? Again, just more questions and more reasons to watch next week!

And Jack playing football like that was a surprise. Why wasn't he still locked up? Has he made friends with them and decided to abandon the other survivors?
The first thing I thought of when I saw that was that he's just letting them think he's okay with them all. I don't think he's planned to abandon the other survivors for a minute. I think he's probably biding his time figuring out who he can save with himself when he does make his move. That's all if he hasn't let the Sawyer/Kate thing get to him.

PS What book was Sayer reading last episode...remember when stuff like that mattered to future shows?
I miss that kind of thing. Or maybe it's still going on, but I'm too bogged down in trying to keep up that I've missed a bunch of stuff.

Locke is up to something... I guess we'll find out what on Wednesday.

PS What book was Sayer reading last episode...remember when stuff like that mattered to future shows?

That was never the case. The books that appear on the show (and the songs also like "Make Your Own Kind of Music" are meant to be hints to the larger mysteries of what's going on, but we probably won't find out their relevance until much later. Although the "Make Your Own Kind of Music" thing makes sense now.

I just knew Locke's dad was there somewhere, and I knew the second the sub blew up that Locke was stuck on the island forever with his dad! I think it's the only thing on this blasted show that I've figured out.

Before we started watching the show last night, my son said, "Why don't you write your questions down, so you'll remember what they were?" :D :D I thought that was really funny.

My #1 question is: Why are the Others so hostile? You'd think they'd be glad to see new people.

They couldn't have found a more perfect actor for Ben. And..yeah...why isn't he healing? He's so creepy...and his eyes...

So, will someone tell me what happened last night besides Locke's dad showing up? I think I need to be spoon fed this show...:D

We just watched this week's episode and all I can say is, "Huh?!" That episode had nothing to do with the show at all. How dare they lead people on with "two of the castaways die" only to find out that it's two of the extras. Who cares?!!! I'm >_< that close to not watching this show again. Y'all are right. All they do is ask more questions. They never answer any! I feel like it's all a big joke on the viewing audience, and I'm getting a little tired of it. At least on Heroes, things happen and questions get answered.

One thing about Lost, I've learned to really appreciate "fore shadowing". I knew just what was going to happen this week as soon as Locke told Paolo not to bother to bury anything because things don't stay buried long on the island.

If they kill Sawyer, I'm done. His wit is the only thing that keeps me watching at this point.

Well, Locke went away with them wherever they went, and he went willingly. And we know from his last episode that he doesn't agree with them living in houses and using refrigerators and such... and since Ben wants to use the island to get healed as Locke has, it seems like Locke is leading them to go "live off the land" or the like.

So Locke is dead? Or will Jacob bring him back? What did Jacob mean by "Help me"? Help him because Ben is holding him captive? Or "Help me" as in "Join me"? Is Richard really that much older than Ben? I don't think he's any older, but he was an adult when Ben was a kid and ran away. So none of the Dharma people survived. Huh. So that just sort of tosses them into the trash can. Or maybe everything Bed said is a lie? He did say that some of his story was a lie. And he's not any kind of scientist or anything? He's just a workman? He's a loser! (Of course, we kinda suspected that all along.) And Ben wanted Locke to kill his dad because he had killed his own. Weirdo.

Dan pointed out that all of these people seem to have lead pitiful lives. They had terrible childhoods, with awful parents! Yet none of them have overcome the screwing up their parents began in their lives.

I wonder whatever happened to Walt and Michael, for real. You know they didn't really let them go.

So things are finally happening. Good. Now it's getting exciting.

Oh, and didn't Danielle give birth to her daughter on the island? And I thought she got pregnant on the island. And what about the sickness Danielle spoke of that drove all of her people crazy? So many holes!

But some people seem to have some kind of magical powers. I guess Walt had that ability. Locke seems to have it and so does Ben. The things they earnestly want show up. Hmmmm.

So I wonder, and maybe one of you can tell me, those that have kept up with the websites and books attached to Lost, has it been worth it? Do you feel like you know what's going on better for all your research? Or do you feel like the books and/or websites have led you down a wrong path?

I've forgotten most of the holes. LIke I've said before, my son says I should write my questions down, cause I forget them. I don't get Danielle at all. I mean...what is she doing all by herself all the time we don't see her?

I decided early on that I wasn't going to obsess on this show. THe problem with that is, I rarely know what's going on! Since I haven't obsessed, I don't remember my questions, so I don't know when a lot of stuff is answered. I really need a summarization without all the red herrings.

I just watched some screencaps on this site: http://losteastereggs.blogspot.c om/ & the Relevant boardies have some interesting theories. Kind of helped me get what was going on.

If they can hold on to their fans for three more years.

I think that was either extremely chicken of them, or it was brilliant. I mean, everyone is trying to figure out who these Dharma people are, and then we find out that they really don't figure into what's going on now much, because they were exterminated like bugs years ago! Wow, talk about your red herrings!

I so wish I hadn't accidentally deleted the original Lost thread. I'd love to go back and read some of our early theories.

I'm to the point that I just like to watch it every week. I don't think about it much during the rest of the time (except now, of course.)

Definately worth it... it's a lot of fun, and (up to an extent) the more you learn about the show, the better it gets.

Danielle was already Very pregnant when she got to the island and (allegedly... let's not forget, she's not all there) gave birth while on it. The sickness probably exists... but it may have been a figment of her imagination. We don't know yet.

It was a smart move on both the producers and ABC's part to give the series a definite end date. This way the show wont just keep going and going (which is what the producers didn't want to happen) and big fans (like myself) and normal people will know for sure that the show will wrap up and that the writers and producers aren't just making things up as they go along.

He was sooooooo cool :D:D! As you've all said - too many questions AGAIN! What on earth is going to happen next season. Man - I can't wait!

I think Sawyer was in the casket, just because it's that whole triangle thing. And because of the way Kate said, "Why should I go?"

Naaaaaaah, Kate said ' I've gotta get back - he'll be waiting' I don't know who she meant by 'HE', but I'm guessing it was Sawyer - or am I just an old romantic at heart?!

Hey there all LOST fans! Thrilled to find this thread, albeit off season. Granted it is Thanksgiving Eve 2007 and way too soon for the 4th season to start (if it does--strike and all), I am imploring you all to not give up on LOST and dump this thread. I am the last hold out of all my friends regarding the most lovingly bizarre and captivating show on TV. Thus, I need (okay, want) a community of likeminded individuals to discuss Jack and Sawyer...especially Sawyer....sigh....I think he is a “Mister Darcy” deep down inside his wounded heart...even in his crimes of passion, he is just misguided and misunderstood....really, he was given misinformation in both instances...oh my, I’ve really lost it. I have become an advocate and engaging in apologia for a fictitious person... pray for me... ;)

From what I have read online, they have only 8 episodes filmed. Who knows what the producers will do with that, I guess it all depends on how long the strike goes on.

I don't suppose it matters cause the cast seems to be dead set on ending the deal anyway. There was yet another DUI arrest the other day. Jin this time. It did not end well for the other two cast members last year who were arrested. I'm predicting a short season for Jin...

What is the deal, do they need to have a MADD inservice over there? Someone teach these folks how to hail a cab!!!!

I am still holding out and only hope that the strike will not delay the start of the new season, which last I heard was Jan or Feb. I have never understood why the long breaks between seasons!! I think they get longer each time. I also wonder that they are in danger of losing their fans. You would think that TV producers of all people would know that most adults now have the attention span of a gnat!! But maybe the ulterior motive is to force people to purchase the DVD's of Seasons 1 thru 3 to remember what in the world was going on!! I have to admit, I have forgotten alot of what has transpired previously, and it will be hard to get back into the show. But I do plan to watch it if it ever airs.

Not Jin, too!! However, maybe in the usual celebrity treatment of offenders, he will walk...I should be bothered by that...but...LOST is a very good show and, thus, I am in an ethical quandry about this...

I would cross the picket line and write for the show to get it back in production ASAP. Throw rotten cabbage at me, I don't care...I have turned my TV off for months, making an effort to watch only The Office and LOST...and I want my LOST TV.

I stand corrected, Corrine...Jack can be a whiny baby, true, however, he did allow Kate to stitch him up with just a sewing kit and an alcoholic beverage, so he gets some man cred there.

Traditional masculinity in my head equates to protector/provider/knowledgeable in traditional male roles (spider killer, sink unclogger, toilet thing-a-majiggy fixer, eye-roller at baby showers, etc.) For example when I say traditional masculinity I mean: Who will give a blank look or furrowed brow at the mention of “duvet“? ...without a doubt, Sawyer and Locke...Sayid and Hurley...probably Desmond, maybe Charlie, remote possibly that even Jack has no clue about "duvets" and their usage...

Jason, I must admit, Sawyer was not a pillar of ethics before the island, but he has treated Kate pretty fairly. All things being equal, she was not a monument to morality, either.

I don't think LOST is anywhere close to losing the viewing audience. When it comes back (strike delay or not) people will be hungry for new shows. If anything the strike is helping LOST because all the new shows that are on now are reruns.

Can't wait for the DVD release! Has anyone been watching the webisodes? youtube them. Nice little fillers in the meantime.

As one that does not have time to watch the show on TV, I wonder if the character, Henry Gale, is still on the show? I went through school with this guy and he is nothing like the characters he plays on TV and in films. I guess he has found his niche, however, and will continue playing "sleazeballs".
When we were in high school, he played Cornelius Vanderbilt in Hello Dolly and was excellent, although he does not sing well.

OK, Jason. It's the "bad boy syndrome", and unfortunately I don't think Christian ladies are immuned. None of us would marry one of those bad boys, hopefully, but there is definitely an attraction and some sort of need to nurture men like that. I'm not saying it's right, and I'd love to hear a psychologist's take on it. Just speakin' the truth from my perspective.

Well, I don't think the bad boy thing can be taught. You either are or you are not. Why would a genuine nice guy want to try that? But like I said, no girlfriends of mine actually married the bad boy. It's more of a spectator-type attraction. I'm not endorsing it at all. Just trying to explain the Sawyer thing. Human nature is really funny sometimes. I was never a fan of the game-playing and that sort of stuff in relationships. I can't speak for all ladies, but honesty, compassion, and a sense of humor are way more attractive than the bad boy thing.

I guess I wish ladies would stop talking about the bad boys because it can make the nice guys think they have no chance or try to become the bad boy.

Sawyer...(cue Gomer's theme)...Could he be any more Gomeresque? He does not deserve my adoration, but I will lavish it on him because, well, you know how the song goes...

Might I add...it's a tv show and my adoration stops at 11:00 pm when I check back into the real world. ;)

Seriously and honestly...what is it about the character Sawyer and other fictional characters like him? I could tell you why my girlfriends and I have an attraction to those kinds of characters, however, I fear the truth would be difficult to digest. I got Lost Season 3 on DVD for Christmas! In my opinion the special features were not that great, but if you get this, make sure you click around on the menus to find Easter eggs with extras.
So we're been watching it over and we're like, "Wow, forgot about that!" Last night we watched episode 4 when we meet Juliette. Jack, Sawyer & Kate were still locked up:rolleyes:, that crazy polar bear fiasco with Locke and Echo, and Desmond shows up, um..should I say...unprepared??:o LOL
I'm telling you, it seems like this all happened soooo long ago, so I'm really glad we're reviewing it. Hopefully, we'll get through it by Jan. 31st. We might have to have a Lost marathon night. Have Grammie watch the girls and just go for it! Commercial free, gotta love that!
