Does anybody know how to use 2 ipods on the same computer w/o putting all the songs from the 1st ipod on the 2nd ipod? I need to know this because my grandfather is getting an ipod for Christmas, but they don't have a computer, so i'm gonna have to run his itunes file on my computer. I need to know this by Christmas Day!!!!! please help me!

I don't know for sure, but I think you could select and deselect the songs you want when you go to update. If you click on your ipod icon in the left pane, it will take you to a page with tabs: summary, music, tv shows, podcasts, photos, contacts and games. When you go to the music tab, and you have both of your music loaded, just choose selected playlists: and check the boxes next to the ones you want to load on your ipod and select different ones for his. I think that should work. :)

I have to do this, myself.

First off, you'll want to change the settings on each iPod to only update selected songs.

Next, make sure both iPods are compatible with the computer.

This is the way I have it set up...I'm sure there is a better way, but it works for me.

Choose a "master iPod". For me, this one is my brothers - he has a 60 gig video iPod. I have a 4 gig mini. Ergo, he has alot of stuff I don't want and stuff I can't use - videos, movies, video podcasts, ect, ect. So because his will have more on it, I let his be the "master".

Next, in iTunes, make a playlist, and title it "2nd Ipod" or whatever you want. This list will be what you want on the secondary iPod.

After you have this list made, you have to get the music on the iPods, and here is how I do that.

When updating the master iPod, I select all of the entire library, and make sure it is selected for updating. Plug it in, download it like normal.

For the second iPod, I first go to the entire library, select everything, and make sure everything is NOT selected for updating. Next, go to that special playlist you made for this iPod. Select everything on that list, and mark it for updating. Now, only the songs you chose to be on the playlist will be on the iPod.

Kind of complicated at first, but you'll learn to tweak the process as you go along. Also keep in mind that you will need to make sure you add any new album or song to your new playlist as you import them; you might be used to this being done automatically.
