some of those will be changing soon i suspect.
my old stand-by, christianguitar.org has taken all lyrics down. apparently they got into some copyright trouble.
the rest will change soon, most likely.
Most larger sites are being forced to take down many of their lyrics, because the lyrics are copyrighted and the intellectual property of other people (often not, in fact, the band)... while a chord progression is not copyrightable.
A lot of artists are now putting chords and lyrics up on their websites (Chris Tomlin for one, I believe Charlie Hall, and some others). Also, if there is something specific you're looking for, shoot me a PM--I have a pretty good collection going.

If your home church has a CCLI license, you can subscribe to SongSelect and download lead sheet for tons of songs. It now has the capability to transpose them before printing, and you can listen to audio samples of the song as well as midi files of the entire song.
SongSelect is intended for use in church worship teams from what I have read. It's dishonest to use it for other purposes.

Well its not dishonest if you subscribe. You pay for the download.

I know that the Wherever You Are songbook is for guitar and piano. You can find Third Day sheet music on this page of ChristianBook.com (http://www.christianbook.com/Christian/Books/easy_find?action=Search&N=5100+4294966228+1005023&Ne=1000000&Nu=product%2Eendeca%5Frol lup&Ns=product%2Enumber%5Fsol d&nav_search=1&event=ESRCN%7C916170%7C|9 16170|&Nso=1).
http://www.911tabs.com/ has tabs for all kinds of songs. It's sort of a directory of tabs. You find the song you want and they will take you to the site that has the tabs.

I always wondered how bands feel about People doing their songs as specials in church. Obviously if you purchase the sound track, you're going to use it. But if they were to walk into my church and hear their song being sung, would it be awesome that their words were being used to glorify God. Or would it hurt that someone was taking their stuff.
Legalities aside, how would that feel?
Jason

As a songwriter I'd say it would feel awesome to hear my songs sung in someone's church.
I know you said legailities aside, but most established Christian songwriters (including me) have their songs signed up with CCLI (Christian Copyright Licensing International - http://www.ccli.com ). Most churches are also signed up with CCLI. Churches pay an annual fee to CCLI based on their church attendance. Worship leaders are supposed to keep track of the songs used in services and then file reports every so often. Then the publishers of the songs get paid for the use of their songs out of the accumulated licensing fees.

There's a guy from my home Church, he use to sing & record for Vineyard Canada. 2 years ago, he moved to my hometown...and goes to my Church. I have sang 1 of his song...with him in the crowd. He said it was different listening to some1 sing & play 1 of his songs.
The song was 'Burn in me' by David Wilding (Vineyard Canada).
-Roger
PS - David has wrote a song that got a lot of attention back in the day (96), its called 'Great God' (Vineyard Canada).
Anyone know what happened to the Guitar-Dude.com site?

The last I heard, the guy that was running it...posted a question on the 3D message boards asking...what he could do to improve it. Maybe he it re-tooling the site. Or, he could have been asked to shout down the site, for copyright reasons. Who knows...

I doubt it was for copyright reasons. The band knows about the website and actually have a link to it on their webblog if I am not mistaken. He is most likely re-tooling it.

In regard to using artists songs in church, like 3D, here in OZ, the church itself has to own the music book and display the copyright details on the screen. Easyworship usually covers most songs, in regard to covering the church with a license to use the material. I bought my church 3 Third Day music books in the hope that we will use their songs in worship. Thus far the players complain that 3D music is to hard to play... whatever.

I was looking for lyrics for "King Of Glory" on the CCLI site. Looks like that one is not covered under the CCLI license. SongSelect shows the message "According to our agreement with the song owner, we do not have permission to display lyrics in SongSelect at this time." Now I can easily create my own song sheets and PowerPoints, but I would really like to be legal about this. Does anyone have any clues about the legality of "rolling my own"?

Does anyone know where I could find a decent tab for Work by Jars of Clay. I've figured out most of the song but there are two bits that sound close but not quite right. The first part of the verse which begins with "Just in case, I will leave my things packed", and the solo.
Any help with this would be much appreciated.

The Elms are starting to give away free tabs on their new website theelms.net. I'm having fun trying to learn the couple that they have up, but they're pretty hard. Nice though to get something like that from the band so that it's accurate. The ones I've printed off in the past from other websites weren't even close.
