It's time for Round 2 of TDSN trivia. Drop by the Sports Forum this Thursday, September 28 and look for the Trivia thread. The fun will begin at 9pm EST.

As a reminder of the rules:

Each round of trivia will be ispired by a theme. Don't think you need to be a sports geek. Some questions will be a bit outside the box.
Questions will be posted in that week's trivia thread and answers should be posted accordingly.
First person to respond with the correct answer scores a point.
First person to collect 4 points wins the round.
Googleing is allowed (your conscience will be relieved).

The winner will win an excellent prize from the Gomer vault. For future rounds, a trivia champ will be declared quarterly. This will be the person with the most cummulative points for that period.

Round 1 winner was wbthornton, aka, King Loon. Will someone knock him off his trivia throne?

The theme for this round of trivia will be "Fall". Today is the first day of fall, the fall tour has kicked off, the fall sports schedule is in full swing...it just makes since. Get your thinking caps on and google fingers ready and tune in on Thursday!

Are there going to be any general sports trivia quetsions? I know my sport but American sports is my Achillis Heel

Dan!
09-28-2006, 10:34 PM
That's a good suggestion. Some of the questions in the group above were more general, but more would't hurt. By the way, if any of you have suggestions about future topics or formats to do trivia, let Sam! or me know. This is your forum. Let's make it fun.

Well there are plenty of sports that should be at least somewhat familiar across the world. You have tennis, golf, football (soccer), swimming, track and field, cycling, other olympic, motor sports etc.

eg. How many grand slam tournaments has Roger Federer won? Who was the F1 world champion in 1988? Which football teams has Ronhaldhinio played for in the last 3 years? Who is the current Olympic champion in the 10 000m speed-skating?

Q. Name 4 of the 5 MLB teams never to play in the Fall Classic.

I'm guessing San Diego was the other one?

Q. Who was the star of the 1981-1986 hit TV show known as “The Fall Guy”?
A. Lee Majors

Most people wouldn't consider this a sports question. I, however, know that Lee Majors was a college football player, drafted by the St Louis Cardinals, but an injury ended his chances of playing professionally.

A. Mary Decker-Slaney.
I think she was just Mary Decker at the time.

Dan you could also try adding a 'What happened next segment'. You could describe the event leading up to a famous sporting event and then ask what happened next. You could also try a Who Am I segment either using text or pictures. eg. Post a picture of Kostzha Zhu and ask people who he is.
