4 years ago today, a piece appeared in the local (Dallas) paper marking the one-year anniversary of the attacks. It consisted of lots of things, but the page to which I am linking was full of letters written in a few weeks earlier, to the question "What does September 11 mean to you?". My letter was the one they chose to make the center of the page, and even included a photo of my family. What I have here is the pdf version of page 8 of that section.

I hesitated whether or not to post this, as my perspective of 9/11 is more celebratory than most people, but I think the message is as relevant today as it was then: the day wasn't all bad, and God is still in control. Of course, I am still as saddened by the death and destruction that day as anyone else.

well obviously the good patriotic thing to do is get to the bottom of this and find out what REALLY happened on that beautiful fall morning...

Amen brotha, God is in control, I am saddened every time I see September 11 on the calendar, Im from NY it will always be a part of me, and thats why I am so heated in those conspiracy threads, but thankfully I never lost someone close to me, but I lost those buildings, and I lost 3,000 countrymen, to those dancing with Jesus from that day, Praise God

Well, it's a double anniversary for me, not only for the horrible act perpetrated against our people, but a year later, my divorce became official.

The year 2001 was a very sad time for me. It began pretty bad with the separation of my marriage in January (had been with him for 20 years). Then in April my father died suddenly with no signs of being sick. And in May, the job I had worked at for several years downsized and our branch office closed. I did get to go visit my Aunt Millie in Brooklyn that August (exactly 1 month before the attacks). We actually went into Manhattan while we were there. I had a cousin who worked in the 2nd tower that was hit. I thank God he did survive, but the memories still haunt him. I am saddened for all the families who lost loved ones that day, my heart aches for them. :(

Well, I have a sad follow-up to this. Yesterday (11th), my wife's father died. It's bad enough that it happened on our kids' birthday, but it's tough on my wife that it's a date that most people associate with a negative event. Other historically bad dates aren't referred to by their date, (example: we don't refer to Pearl Harbor as the Dec 7 attack), but 9/11 is. And now this.

Oh, James.....:( :( :(

I know this ain't the prayer forum but....

Father,

I come to Your mighty throne of grace this morning and I ask that You comfort James and his family in this loss. Comfort them during this time and wrap Your loving arms around them and hold them tight.

In Your holy and most magnificent name I pray....

Amen...

God bless you, James....

God give you all his peace and comfort.

My heart was very heavy this morning, which is odd. None of the previous anniversarys ever really affected me...

God bless every family affected :(I watched two Flight 93 stories, one on TBN and one on Dateline NBC, and the one on NBC really had me choking up.
