View Full Version : TDSN Trivia Time
This week begins two new features on TDSN. As Sam! has already posted, NFL picks will be a regular item. Also new is every sports fan's favorite...trivia!
The first round of trivia will be this Thursday, September 7, beginning at 9pm EST. The rules will be simple:
Each round of trivia will be ispired by a theme.
Questions will be posted in that week's trivia thread and answers should be posted accordingly.
First person to respond with the correct answer scores a point.
First person to collect 4 points wins the round.
The winner of the inaugural contest will win a prize. For future rounds, a trivia champ will be declared monthly. This will be the person with the most cummulative points for that month.
In order to get your juices flowing, the first round of trivia questions will be inspired by the box office winner of this year's summer movies..."The Pirates of the Caribbean-Dead Man's Chest".
See you on Thursday!
Hey Dan if a person can't be there right at 9:00 Eastern is it hopeless or can they join in the fray later? Is Google allowed?

Good question, because I will be watching the Super Bowl champs at that time.

Anyone can join in at anytime. But not too late. I need my beauty sleep. Trivia will kick off at 9:00 EST until a winner is declared.
And yes, Google is allowed. But be ready. The questions will be tough.
5 minute warning to Trivia Time!
OK TDSN fans, here we go. Remember, the first person to come in with 4 correct answers is the winner for this round.
The theme for this round is...."Pirates of the Carribean"
We'll start with a softball question.
Name 3 major league professional sports teams with pirates as it's mascot.

Pittsburgh Pirates, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cleveland Cavaliers
You have 2 of 3. The Cavaliers technically were court nobles. Try again.

Crud....I found it too late :p
Oakland Senors
The Senors it was.
Fans nearly rioted at the silly name and forced the change.
One more Raiders question: The (in)famous Raider mascot is the raider on a shield with crossing swords. Who is the man on the shield modeled after?

Hint...think orange.

How about that hint, Sam!
Sorry, wife came in and needed directions for an appointment tomorrow... and I didn't know so we had to dig out a map.

He won the Heisman trophy as a college athlete, and returned after his NFL career to coach at his alma mater. Where he coached teh team to a National Championship.

That sounds a lot like Steve Spurrier......but I can't find that Spurrier played for the Raiders.
He didn't. He played for that other pirate team. I believe in the era of the absolutely terrible orange vomit uniforms and the winless season and all of that.
Scoreboard!
Brian only needs one more. Tough question time:
Producer of "Pirates of the Carribean" Jerry Bruckheimer has made two sports themed movies. Name them.

Glory Road & Remember the Titans
Is it Charlie Ward?
No, but he has been stealing money from the Houston Rockets while sitting in the IR the past two years. (he is coaching this year to earn his keep).
Glory Road & Remember the Titans
We have a winner!!!!
There were actually three films. For all those NASCAR fans out there, Days of Thunder was the other.

Thanks Ames....I finally won a trivia contest ;)
Congratulations! The King Loon is now the King of Trivia!
For your efforts, we will send you a copy of the limited ed CD from the Come Together & Worship Tour. Send me your Address on PM.
Thank ya'll for playing. Stay tuned for more trivia in the very near future and be sure and send us your comments and suggestions.
For fun, here are a couple of unused questions that will go into the vault for future contests:
The 1979 World Series winning Pirates rallied around a theme song that united the team. What was the song?
The first black starting QB in the NFL played for the Bucs. Who was he and what year was it?
How did the Pittsburgh Pirates get their name?
One of the stars of "Pirates of the Carribean", Keira Knightly, also had a role in a recent sports movie. What was that movie?
Congratulation Brian! and thanks to everyone for playing. And for not guessing the raiders logo was modeled after me.
