View Full Version : NASA looses moon landing tapes
article (http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20060816/ts_alt_afp/usspacenasaapollo_0608152 03451)
it's just funny how something that you would think is important footage could be lost.
Imagine if we took half of the money we'd spent on space research and spent it on fixing actual problems in this country...
Regarding the article... the first thing that came to mind when I saw the headline was that episode of Everybody Loves Raymond where Deborah finds out Ray taped over the wedding video...

The "we didn't land on the moon...it was filmed in the desert" folks are going to love this!
To me, to lose something as momentous as this is akin to saying, we lost the declaration of independence.

I disagree. The Declaration of Independence was itself historic. Losing moonrocks or Armstrong's suit or the pieces of spacecraft would be much more devastating than video evidence.

this was a very good episode.

The money hasn't just resulted in getting men to the moon, etc. It's also resulted in military technology advancing, commercial satellites, numerous technology developments, not to mention the scientific knowledge gained and the morale benefit during the cold war.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but SORRY it does seem a 'little' fishy to lose something like that! Maybe before technology gets good enough to totally disprove the whole thing :D :D :D :p :p :p :p :D :D :D

It did fix actual problems. Besides the fact that the technology from the space program led to many innovations which led to many inventions, thus creating jobs in the private sector, it also helped put the fear in the commies during the cold war.
Besides, it's not as if the money went down the drain. It went to hard-working NASA employees, who pumped it back into the economy in the form of housing, groceries, gas, and everything else a person needs to live, and did so for decades.
