Recently the fine folks at "You're the Man Now Dog" (ytmnd.com) have been poking fun on scientology, what with the whole story about Xenu and so on. Someone decided to submit a serious presentation (http://theunfunnytruth.ytmnd.com/) about this cult. I knew the cult was sketchy and thought of it as more of a tax evasion method for superstars (Tom Cruise) but nothing like this. Some of the images shown are of autopsies so be warned!
Here's (http://www.xenutv.com/originals/4th.htm) an example of how these people really are.

Another interesting documentary about the Scientology's domination over Clearwater can be seen here. (http://www.xenutv.com/trust/policevideo.htm)

I particularly liked the guy who kept squishing his face against the camera saying "You're pushing the camera up against my face!".

My favorite was the guy that said he couldn't play soccer anymore.
"So, where's your limp? You don't have a limp anymore?"
"I can't play soccer becuase you stepped on my foot!"
"Oh, there's the limp!"

The organization that made the videos, the "Lisa McPherson Trust (http://lisatrust.freewinds.cx/)," has quite a bit of background information on their website too.

I like the one where, after following him down the street, the one guy says
"we're wasting so much g**d*** time with you when we could be having fun"

What else can you expect from an organisation that puts a price tag on their form of "salvation"???

Hm... that would be nice, but I would insist that they'd bear Hubbard's face. :)

Here's (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=375574824 4736332767&q=L.+Ron+Hubbar) a video of Jamie Kennedy, Hubbard's great grandson speaking against scientology (some profanity). He gives some interesting information. One of the things he claims is that the CoS threatened Travolta with releasing information of a 2 year gay relationship he had if he didn't co-produce "Battlefield Earth". It just goes to show what these people are capable of doing to get what they want.

I loved mst3k!! I wish they'd revive it. There's plenty of movies they could make fun of right now. Tom Servo would probably spew gumballs at the sight of Battlefield Earth.

A kidney first? Geez, the price has gone up a bit eh? When I was your age it was a big rock. Now they're demanding kidneys? Dang.
btw, I think you are older than me.

Their tactics are nothing near using logic. Brainwashing and feeding off peoples needs are how they win people over.
The original presentation (http://theunfunnytruth.ytmnd.com/) now has been updated with some new info by the way.

I heard they broke up because of the whole Scientology thing....
Hollyweird is so out of touch....

Well, neither of us knows Nicole Kidman so we will probably never know for sure, but if she left Tom Cruise because of the whole Scientology thing then she has my deepest respect for that. Tom Cruise though... well, my opinion of Scientology is clear so you can imagine what I think of him there.

I would not be too surprised if the guy who shot this was even hoping for something like that and that he went home with a smile after he had what he wanted. :)

Hmmm.... I have mixed feelings about that whole thing.
First of all, I was involved with Scientology for a while and even served on staff, so I know a little something about it. Yes, it is definitely a cult. And I agree some things about it and some things about it are more than shady. I finally ended up leaving debt free (nothing on their books) and getting myself declared PTS (potential trouble source - someone connected to an SP, - the definition of SP in the videos is somewhat incomplete but works, I suppose.) I agreed to it and told the "ethics" counselor that I was PTS to Jesus. LOL I think they do a bit of injustice in the video as they pull the worst things out of context. I think it would be good to get some former Scn. to put some of it in context as it is bad enough even then.
The book about L Ron Hubbard, Madman or Messiah that was mentioned is a good one to read if you want to know somthing about Scn. and it's history. I knew a lot of those people, in particular those connected with the Missions in California. (The Missions were a franchise.)
Scn. may be a scam, but the truth is that it has the elements of religion, including faith. Most people in Scn. are actually above average intelligence, believe it or not. A lot of them are nice people. Some of them definitely are NOT.
You know, I'm not in complete disagreement with some of the Scn. dislike for psychiatry. I just don't think they do any better than the psychiatrists. LOL I thought the bit about the guy who was schizophrenic stabbing his mom was a tad over the top. That could have happened under psychiatric care as well. In fact, it does happen. I think there are more credible and less sensationalistic things they could have used than a few of examples they gave.
Still the videos were interesting.
BTW, I also had friends in the Guardian's office. One of my memories was at a staff meeting where one of the guys from the Guardian's office pretty much implied that the charges were true (without actually saying it) and making it sound like self defense. I couldn't believe he would admit that at the time.
The funny thing was that I sidewalk counseled in front of an abortion clinic for many years. Bacaor (radical pro abortion rights crowd) actually had a hand book with some of those techniques the Scientologists were using. I was laughing because I recognize those tactics. I recall being at a clinic and this gal was trying to push into another gal and saying stop pushing and the gal was trying to avoid her. It was almost comical. Kinda like the guy with the camera incident. It was rather deja vu. Actually, what the Scientologists were doing was tame by comparison, believe it or not. And there was definitely bias against the prolifers for the most part, but there were lots of exceptions as well. Some of the complaints in the video the police probably couldn't do much about except take a report. Since some of them were probably infractions, and not all of them were witnessed, then they would have to make a citizens arrest, which is rather risky to do legally. It's also hard to get a conviction even with video. Video is actually more helpful in exonerating yourself than in proving someone else violated the law, believe it or not. That doesn't mean the police weren't biased. It looked like they probably were. It's just more complicated than the video shows. Anyway... it was interesting to see.
Lastly, careful here... Scientologist are people created in God's image. Some are akin to false prophets, but most are just sinners in need of the real savior. Hubbard isn't even close. In fact, his veneration was one of the things I found unsettling about Scientology. And Hubbard died a long time ago. Christ rose from the dead to save even Scientologists. He saved me. Hubbard is still dead.
Anyway, my testimony, if you're interested:

O.K. I found this link, and this woman's story I totally believe. I was at one time being recruited for the Sea Org, and I have been thankful for a very long time that my husband prevented it.
