Nobody knows when it's going to come...not even Jesus. Only the Father knows. I prefer not to take time speculating over things like this...we all should be living as if He will come tomorrow

Yes, we probably are, and no, we shouldn't be worried about it.

Great point Beka!!!!!!! It's the unstability of that entire region that leads one to believe. But, just also take a look at the increase in natural disasters such as the large earthquakes, floods, fires, volcanos, etc. around the world.

I think Iraq is significant in the Last Days, so the fact that there is a war going on there, the fact that the leadership has changed from a clearly demonic man to whatever is in charge now, carries EndTimes significance. It's not scary, but it is interesting.

True. But there's been a constant change in the middle-east for centuries. This may simply another wave, or it may not. The area itself will be significant in the Last Days, but who knows if it'll be Iraq by that time. It could be Kurdistan for all we know. The removal or a ruler and access to change is certainly a step forward, but the last two-thousand years have been composed of steps towards prophecy.

No, but Mr. LeHaye and Jenkings did a pretty good job with those books. I enjoyed reading them. I obviously missed something, James is letting us hang before he sheds light on this discussion.

LaHaye wrote the Left Behind series, and Lindsay wrote a book in 1970 which was called "The Late Great Planet Earth" In it, he outlined a timeline of exactly the time periods he thinks everything is going to occur (the timeline itself is exactly what Jesus said not to do in Matt 24). This book was a best-seller, and was the beginning of an industry of books which have led a lot of Christians to fear the End Times, and to think, mistakenly, that we Christians will not be here during the Tribulation.

Okay, wait a second Mr. Jim. I have read revelations over and over, and many times prior to reading the left behind series. Now I enjoyed the books, and in fact, am waiting for tomorrow to get the third in the prequal. I like to read and the enjoyed the prophetic knowledge that these two seem to garner. However, Doesn't Matthew, and Paul both write about those who have fallen asleep rising first and the rest meeting Jesus in the air. I have always interrupted and have been taught that, believers will be gone with Jesus on the Day of the Lord. Now, I'm really confused.

I shouldn't have commented on this at all. Now I'm being argumentative, while getting onto someone on another thread for the same thing.
To answer your question, it is my contention that Christians will be here during the Tribulation period. If you like, we can start something in the Word forum for this.
However, I must warn you that I have just been called to travel for work (back to Sterling Va) and will be working long hours, so I may not be back here for many days.

I voted yes, but I am not an apocalypse now believer. I also don't base it on the 'signs', since most of the signs have existed essentially forever (false teachers, rumors of war, etc). I just have had this 'feeling' for a few years now that our generation will see the return. No concrete proof, no idea whatsoever of when....just a feeling.

I had to go back 5 pages in the Word forum, but I found this thread:
http://www.thirdday.com/boards/showthread.php?t=83834
When I became a Christian a very long time ago, the only view taught around me was of a pre-trib rapture. I didn't know there was any other thought. But the more I read scripture, the more it didn't sit right with me. (Please know that I'm not saying that I'm more in tune with God than someone who does believe in a pre-trib rapture. If anything, I know that God didn't want me to just take the word of those around me, but wanted me to investigate the Word and other sources). Then I heard other points of view and was amazed that the pre-trib thought came about recently in history. I can't remember exactly when, but I know someone around here does know. I have come to a somewhat loose conclusion that Christians won't escape the "last days" through a "rapture." I believe that the "rapture" and the 2nd Coming of Christ are one and the same. I could be wrong though, so no skewering me. There's a lot of good info in the above thread. Check it out.

Not what I meant. Darby and Scofield did popularize pre-trib doctrine, but Lindsay made it sell; invented the industry.

Well icrap does mean the same thing as s*** anywhere; just a cleaner version of it. Would the word "poo poo" have made you feel better? But I didn't say God DID one, I just said he doesn't give one about our man made calenders. Either way, I typed it here in the northern part of the world and it's perfectly acceptbale. Not cross, just um, yea.

Lindsay definitely did invent the industry and make it sell - good point. Darby and Scofield did more than popularize it though - they invented it out of whole cloth! Not trying to argue, just to give credit where credit is due ;) ... wouldn't want to deny them the credit for inventing and popularizing a new doctrine ...
