They are going to be at Rock the Universe with Third Day this year. Debbie and I talked to them in Nashville. I said something about liking them because they are good ol' Southern boys, then I realized that they hadn't said they were, and I hadn't heard them talk yet, so I could be mistaken. I think it's just the way they play and look. Josh, the singer, said, "Yes ma'am, we're from Virginia!" Whew!

Live they had a sort of Bad Company sound to them.

Oh yeah, and you might recognize their producer. His name is Scotty Wilbanks. ;)

You can pre-order the CD here (http://www.musichristian.com/sys/product.php?PRODUCT=16861 4)for only $10.97, and it's autographed!

If you go to DecembeRadio's website, you can here (I think) 5 songs. This cd is going to ROCK. I can hardly wait to get it!! IMHO, it will be one of the best rock albums of the year if it is all like the samples I have heard.

I spent 2 days in Atlanta with these guys and not only they rock, but they are the nicest bunch guys your ever meet, (besides Third Day of course) Josh, the lead singer, looks like the lead singer of Nicleback and has a personality like Mac Powell. Also they have Boone, the drummer, he is totally cool and fun to hang out with. My son, Christian and Boone had a great time.

Their CD is produce by Scotty Wilbanks and comes out June 27th.

You guys have GOT to check out this new project by DecembeRadio! Third Day's newest member, Scotty Wilbanks (keyboards), produces what I would call one of the best Christian Rock records I have heard in quite some time. This band is GREAT!

I find I am often disappointed when I see bands live (except Third Day, of course) and find that their on stage talent falls way short of what you hear coming out of the studio. But I heard these guys live and their playing their tails off! Some things I heard LIVE were even BETTER than the record!

Call me crazy, but I believe I have witnessed the beginnings of the next big thing in Christian music. "Love Found Me" will give your soul a party that leaves you breathless! But so many others are great as well. The project's power ballad, "Drifter," captures the heart of so many people I know and reminds them of the amazing love of God and how He captures you and holds you captive in His grace. What a song!

Buy the CD, but see this band LIVE! Just make sure you have an appointment with your hairdresser the next day, 'cause these guys will leave it peeled back with some amazing talent and heart!

Welcome to the boards musician45x.
I would love to see Decemberadio live!! I am sure they rock. I have had their cd since it was released. It is an awesome cd IMHO!! It is a rocker and I love it. I suspect "Drifter" will be the next single off of the cd, great song. "Live and Breathe" is just a great song! "Alright My Friend" would sound great in a big Collisium setting. That guitar at the end when it goes real high, is classic. All of the songs are good though. It is good to have a really good rock album and have really good lyrics also.
I agree, people, go out and buy this cd. If you like rock, you will not be dissapointed.

You know me. I'm getting a little forgetful in my old age. You should see the cool tattoo on the inside of my arm. Guess what the "DR" stands for. :D Debbie has one, too. They are copies of Josh's (the one I have) and Eric's (the one Debbie has) tattoos. Eric graciously branded us. They are a little worn now.

Grade:A Keep on Rockin' the Free World! by CCM Magazine

Back in January, Billboard named DecembeRadio as the Christian artist to follow this year in it's "Faces To Watch" cover story. And for good reason.

Produced by Scotty Wilbanks (Third Day, Overflow), this four-some's major label debut album is rife with straight-ahead, down-home, hard-hitting rock & roll. It's very clear these Southern boys owe a debt to such predecessors as Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers and, even, Led Zeppelin. But they've also been taking lessons from The Black Crowes, Lenny Kravitz and other more modern influences.

Starting off the party full-steam ahead with upbeat, driving songs such as "Dangerous" (which is on the aural frequency reminiscent of Stone Temple Pilots circa 1992) and "Love Found Me (Love's Got A Hold)" (which, of all the cuts, sounds most like Chris Robinson & Co.), the self-titled project takes off and doesn't slow down until halfway through the record. When it does, though, the quartet shines just as bright, with "Drifter" sounding every bit as anthem-ic as any praise and worship chorus. And it also doesn't hurt that Peter Stroud (Sheryl Crow) adds some nice layers of atmosphere with his sublime slide guitar styliings.

The album rounds out with "Least Of These" which, in addition to sounding as close to The Joshua Tree-era U2 as these guys get, features and extended recording session tagged on at the end. Let the CD continue playing after the song is officially over to get a taste of DecembeRadio free-styling with Wilbanks. It's the best version of "Mary Had A Little Lamb" that I do believe I've ever had the pleasure of hearing!

And, as far as it's moniker is concerned, December is one of our most beloved months -- the one in which we celebrate Christmas. With the birth of Christ, the entire world was changed. What better way to transmit that message to a massive audience than through the radio? Plus, according to the band members -- Josh Reedy (lead vocals/bass), Brian Bunn (lead guitar/vocals), Eric Miker (guitar/vocals) and Boone Daughdrill (drums/vocals) -- "DecembeRadio" just sounds cool.

With the intention of spreading its message of love and hope as far and wide as possible, DecembeRadio is aptly named.

--Kristi Henson

I bought their 2 older albums of their site store and am looking forward to them coming to my doorstep in Northern Ireland!!!

One of them is a Worship album and I have heard parts of it online and it is excellent.

Can I just say no-one has ever came close to Third Day's worship albums (offerings) but Decemberadio seem to be the closest yet.

Corrine

The more I listen to the new CD, the more I love it. I wake up with it in my head, which makes me crave to hear it even more. :D

By the way, y'all might want to pop on over to www.Decemberadio.com and check out the latest (9-14-06) journal entry. Boone talks about Third Day and meeting some Gomers! (actually with four exclamation points behind it. :D ) I wonder who that was? :D

I just cannot wait to see these guys again. They are coming close enough to Houston for me to go see them, but it's October 21 (http://www.thirdday.com/boards/forumdisplay.php?f=537), and I think I have a prior commitment on that day. Bad timing!!!

Corrine
09-22-2006, 01:52 PM
Does five hours sound too far to drive for a good show? No, I didn't think so either. Shoutfest - Pineville, LA, here we come!

Is it just me or does Boone's intro to Table remind anyone of Alex Van Halen's work in And The Cradle Will Rock?

I'm still gushing that we were mentioned in DR's tour journal, so I had to make a picture of it to post here, for posterity. :D

Thanks for posting this Corrine.

I must admit, as an ex-Van Halen freak (stopped listening in '98), I have been waiting for a band like this for some time. They sound very good. I guess I don't want to get my hopes up and find out they're not all that like so many other Christian bands (or that they end up sounding like Nickelback or something - how tragic would that be?)

This is the kind of cd that I hope Third Day puts out as their next release as it was Consuming Fire that originally got me interested in the band. Don't get me wrong, along with u2, 3D are still my favourite band.

anywho, i'm going back to their site for another listen.

Well, they may say they are Gomers, but they haven't signed up yet. Eric calls me Corrine, but if they say "Huh?" then you can say, "You know, Mama Gomer." Then they will say, "Oh, yeah." :p We hung out with them at Rock the Universe.

I got to see these guys this past saturday night and they ROCKED!
Great Rock n Roll sound which was very true to the recording, with a little southern edge to it, with a great message. I think they played about ten songs total, two which were covers, one was a Kansas song and I cant remember it right now and the other was "Are you gonna go my way" by Lenny Kravitz. They had great energy but I was disappointed they had such a small crowd to play in front of but it did not seem to effect them rocking out. I had no idea that Josh played bass as well as sang lead vocals. The guys were very personable after the show and talked at length about how much they liked working with Scotty and when I mentioned that they were getting some talk here on the boards they even remembered talking with Corrine. Looking forward to them coming to town again next month. If they are in your area make an effort to go out and see them as you wont be sorry you did.

Decemberadio is going to be on The Logan Show (http://www.loganshow.com)next Saturday, February 10!!! You can actually hear their performance now on www.MySpace.com/TheLoganShow but you have to wait until Saturday to see it.

In the Houston area, if you have Time Warner digital cable, The Logan Show is on at 1:00 AM Saturday (Friday night) on channel 20, the Daystar network (KLTJ); 10:00 PM on channel 201, the Family Network (FamilyNet); and again at 11:00 PM on channel 202, the Inspirational Network (INSP or iLife). If you have SkyAngel, it's on a few times on there, too.

If you miss it, you will be able to watch it on the show’s website here: http://loganshow.com/index.cfm?PAGE_ID=70&EXPAND= They generally let them perform one or two songs, and they interview them, so it will be a fun show to watch! D

What a great show and great time. For those of you wondering why Wendy, myself and those other psychotic concert goers will drive 4-5-6-+ hours for shows... then last night is a perfect example.

It was a youth type venue that was small and intimate (seeing the pictures you’ll understand just how intimate) and afterwards all the bands just mingled until everyone got two or three chances to chat and get autographs.

It’s these small venue shows that are the backbone of how bands get started. I feel privileged to help provide any support I can for these shows and will go to them whenever possible.

So, for those on the fence about driving a couple hours to a small chapel or 'dive' for a “new band”, or for a band you sort of like, all I can say is…. MAKE DRIVE!!!

Lets recap… Day of Fire won a Grammy I believe (I’m don’t know about Doves), and Decemberadio was nominated for a Grammy and is nominated for 4 Doves… who knows if you’ll get chances like we got last night in the future. It’s just something to think about for you music lovers and concert goers.

on with pictures

The first band Point of Honor was pretty good. It was hard to understand the words though so I bought the cd. No really good pics of them. Their guitar player was a trip...me and Brittany swore he was going to fall off the stage onto us.

DecembeRadio was really good. The stage was very small so I would love to see them on a bigger one to see how they could move on stage.

I asked them if they knew you and they all looked at me like "you know Corrine?" Then I told Josh and Boone that they needed to get on the message boards because we talk about them and they had fans here. They said they would...now you hold them to that!!! ;)

I love it when we break new bands into the idea of the Gomers. I don't know what they think at first, but I think it's funny when they go to different cities and talk to different people who all know each other because they are Gomers. I think it took Josh Brown a while to get used to it, now it's DR's turn. :p

Now that you mention it, Boone does look a little like Brad.

The family and I rove the 4 hours up the mountain to support the High Country You Ministries (http://www.highcountryyouthminis tries.com/) concert. Dwight and gang really put on a good show, and everyone who walks in it treated like family. I can say I’ve rarely felt as comfortable in any other venue like I do around those people.

Keep your eyes open for their concerts and make sure you go because they are worth the support.

Saturday March 3rd was suppose to be December Radio and Seventh Day Slumber. RUTH (http://www.myspace.com/ruthrock) showed up and opened the show for them. RUTH

Debbie did not mean to leave anyone out. I love everyone on the boards equally. But I must admit after seeing all the bashing Elwood takes I may have to take up for him after the great pictures he took for us:) Also thank you for the campaign for DR on the 3D tour. That would be great. Love those 3D guys, grew up on self-titled and TIME. Time was prob my fav( southern rock guitar, b3...doesnt get much better for me)

Time is my favorite CD as well! We noticed that Scotty Wilbanks was your producer. Maybe you can tell everyone a little bit about the group, how you all came together, etc. Least of These is an awesome song!

Thanks Eric, I know you didn't.:D

Elwood is good ole boy, one of the best brothers a sister could have. Letting us pick on him proves it. We love him bunches!

Elwood has been taking some Awesome shots these days. Once he got the hang of that camera, learned all the fancy tricks, it has been nothing but great shots since.

With that said, let me introduce you to "Toe Jam Man", Elwoods alter ego and hero at large :D Just click right here (http://www.thirdday.com/boards/showpost.php?p=1576050&postcount=444) and read thru the next few post. Browse up and you will find Febreeze Girl, aka our lovely Wendy.

Seriously, that whole thread is Mac's birthday Scavenger Hunt celebration on the boards. Goodness, we did have a blast doing that one. If you can, browse through it, you will witness some big time fans who will stop at nothing.....when it comes to Third Day.:D I am thinking that the DR feeling is quickly catching on round here.

Thanks for the shout Eric. See in a couple of weeks.

Blessings,
Debbie

Here's a Decemberadio video of "Table" (one of my favorites!) from the show Debbie and I were at at BB Kings in Nashville last week!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fq6z8wMzVGk

You can even see me taking some pictures. The guy making the video is behind me, with about one other person between us. A couple of times, you can see me raise my camera, and you can even see the picture I took for just a half a second. I'm right in front of Eric (the guitar player on the far left). You can hear Debbie screaming towards the end of the video. :D I believe that is her. She will have to verify that.

Here's a little more about the band.

DecembeRadio’s Grammy nominated, Dove Award winning debut album has the feel of the classic rock of the '70s and the pop metal of the '80s, performed with today's more contemporary sensibilities and a healthy dose of Southern rock appeal. So you can expect some lean, mean guitar riffs and a bona fide rock show from these guys. Brian Bunn, DecembeRadio guitarist, says of their show, "There's definitely a lot in the set for musicians or any rock n roll fan to like - the energy, the guitar solos, and the drum solos. But we also try to react to the audience on a deeper level and with a more spiritual mindset. We have a set of worship that brings all that into focus. One of the guys shares a message, and we have a time of prayer. Then we celebrate again at the end and really rock out."

Their straight up rock and roll has earned them a spot on Billboard Magazine’s Faces to Watch list, and on Christianity Today’s list of the Best Artists of 2006. Their song "Dangerous" is the theme song of the new Discovery Channel show HAZARD PAY.

All the rave reviews and mounting acclaim haven't gone to their heads. The guys of DecembeRadio have their hearts in the right place. "We're not out to try to be rock stars, we're just a bunch of southern boys who want to hang out, have a good time and inspire others," sums up Bunn. "But we’re not trying to play it safe musically or spiritually. We’re not interested in selling out to the industry to be famous, and we’re passionate about being technically on top of our game. We realize each day that without God we’re nothing, and it’s our mission to spread His message through music. Without that, we’d be unhappy and lonely. You're never going to be happy, find peace or comfort, without the fulfillment of Christ in your life."

This concert at Gloria Dei is going to be a night of exhilarating worship, electrifying rock, and awesome fun for all ages! Tickets only $10 at TicketServant.com!

Today is DecembeRadio day!!!

There is an article in today's Houston Chronicle's Religion section about the band and our show next Friday! It's an interview with Brian Bunn, lead guitar player for the band, with a huge picture of him on the first page, and a picture of the whole band on the inside where the article is continued. If you don't get the Chronicle, you can read it here and even leave a comment: http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/life/religion/4933279.html

The Rock the Boat concert, which was at the premier of the movie Evan Almighty, is on again today at 3:00 PM CT on the Gospel Music Channel. If you are in Houston, and you have Comcast (formerly Time Warner) it's on channel 172. If you can't catch it when it's on, TiVo (DVR) it! The concert features DecembeRadio, Switchfoot, Relient K, and Jeremy Camp, along with the stars of Evan Almighty and clips from the movie. The concert took place at the Gibson Theater in Los Angeles, and was also a benefit for Habitat for Humanity. DecembeRadio played two songs, “Table” (their hardest rocking song) and “Drifter” (their softest song), so you get a good idea of what they sound like. If you don’t get the Gospel Music Channel, or want to watch it on your own timetable (like right now) you can watch the concert online here: http://www.hollywoodjesus.com/rtb/

Kent Matthews, DJ extrodinaire on KSBJ's Lightforce, will be airing the interview he did with Erik Miker AND giving away 10 tickets to Friday's show! Listen to KSBJ 89.3 in the Houston area. If you aren't in Houston, listen online at www.KSBJ.org between 9PM and midnight Central Time tonight! www.ksbj.org

Right now, DecembeRadio is in the studio with Scotty Wilbanks, who when he's not producing awesome records by bands such as DecembeRadio, Echoing Angels, and After Edmund, plays keyboards for a little band you might have heard of called Third Day. ;) Their new album looks like it might be coming out in the spring of 2008, so that's two new CDs to look forward to next spring!

If you missed the DecembeRadio interview on KSBJ Saturday, you have another chance to hear it. Our good friend and KSBJ DJ, Kent Matthews, is replaying the interview tonight around 8:20 PM CT. You can hear it on the radio if you are in the Houston area, or live at www.KSBJ.org. Tune in to hear it! It's a great interview!

I wish that I could make the show in your area but it is just too long of a drive from Ohio. I am looking forward to seeing Decemberadio in October at the University of Findlay in October. I was there two years ago for the Third Day show. Looking at all of the pictures makes me all that more excited about going to the show!! Good luck with the one you are promoting I pray that God will bless you many times over with this one.
