I totally agree man! Modern Christian music is just so passive and touchy feely.

Shoot, just find some way to get it to the public (Myspace music?) and eventually, you will be sick of your own stuff! :D

That's great Obi, and oh so true. How fitting. I was driving home last night, and happened to switch to a new local christian station, I sat there and thought, "Hey I know these words, but the tune is........" For the Love of Orange, they were playing a cover of Offering. It quite frankly could have been the worst rendition of some else's song I have ever heard. It was completely horrible. But, that's what we have to deal with. My personal favorite is the 74 or so versions of I can sing of your love, ugh!!!!!!!!

You know - you take the same 7 words and repeat 'em 11 times.

This is part of why we do a lot of original worship material (of course, it helps when you have former nationally known Christian rockers in your band!) But we went to the expense of putting a recording studio in our building so we could produce our own worship music. Much of the material written by our band has a depth and personality that's lacking in a lot of todays current worship stuff.

That's fantastic. Our worship pastor has written anthem songs for some of our mission conferences. That's neat cause you can write stuff that applies to your congregation or local area. Cool stuff!!

now that was the real statement. why must you assumne otherwise? anytime you feel like you've assumed what i mean you might wanna take it up with me, cuz you're more than likely wrong.

I wasn't assuming anything. i was basing it on what was said. Not the way you re-worded it in this post, but the way you said it the first time. Coupled with what jwil said, it reminded me of several other posts I have seen here, and statements I have heard from Christians over the years. I'm glad to see you clarify your statements.

Grank-If Jesus is NOT the only way to salvation, would you please tell me how you plan on getting there? Just, you know, out of curiosity.

I was referring to this post:

"I don't think secular music is evil. I have followed the career of Jimmy Buffett ..."

Maybe I was interpreting it wrong, but the sequence of those two clauses led me to believe that you were equating your belief that secular music isn't evil with the fact that you listen to it.

My apologies if I read it wrong.

For the record, I am not against secular music. Actually, I don't think there is such a thing. Songs are generally about life experiences.

A Christian like Mac Powell should have the freedom to sing about God, his wife's headache, or whatever he experiences or observes in life, without any condemnation.

Moreover, the listener who opens up to such songs is better off for having done so.
