Tell us something about yourself that is not commonly known on these threads...like, a friend of mine told me that her favorite day is Wednesday because it's garbage day and she loves to clean out her pantry every Wednesday. I thought that odd.
Mine would be I love White so much that I would have all White clothes, house, bedding, etc. I would have everything White!
You get the idea.

oh my gosh....we're related....Daniel Boone is my great great great great great great Uncle......wow....how amazing...
There is a possibility that my 5th great grandfather knew your 6th great Uncle. My first ancestor in the American Colonies was John Baker. He and his wife had 11 children. My 4th great grandfather, Jacob Baker, was born at Redstone Old Fort in PA in 1775. John later fought in the Revolutionary War, and during that war he received the rank of Captain. After the war, Captain John Baker built a fort near present day Wheeling WV known as Baker's Station and later Baker's Fort. He was killed while fighting in the Indian Wars in 1787. I know that Simon Kenton was at Redstone Old Fort during the time when my Jacob Baker was born. I also know that Simon Kenton and Daniel Boone knew each other very well. It's highly likely that our ancestors knew each other.

In 1990 my father and I went to China on business. Our travels took us waaaayyyyyy out of the normal "tourist areas". We were taken to a villiage(s)/town(s) way out in the middle of nowhere.
We stopped in one town for a little bit (I forget why). There was a pretty good sized crowd outside of our vehicle (a small passenger bus). My father told me to get off the bus and stand outside.
I stand 6'4" tall, so I'm already taller than the average here in America. Imagine what it's like in a country like China where somebody as tall as I am is the exception, not the rule. I had a crowd of people around me.
I found out later on that I was the first white man/Westerner that this villiage had ever seen in the flesh. I noticed that they had a Kodak add in a store window with a western/Eruo/white woman on it, but I was the first they were ever actually able to reach out and touch.
What does this say about "Big D?"
What doesn't it say about him? hehehehhee

All 3 of my kids have very notable birthdates.
I took 10 years to get my first bachelor's degree, then 2 years for the 2nd one.
I was named after a guy who died in an accidental shooting. The day before, when informed that my mom (his friend) was pregnant, he jokingly suggested that she name the kid after him.
When my sister was born, our grandfather Fred had just died, so she was named after him. Freddie.

lesseee... My dad received his highschool diploma in his mid-30s - he was a believer in education... hence, I was the first person in my entire family heritage to get a bachelor's degree - I put myself through college and graduated cum laude - now 2 of my brothers have their master's and one brother is almost done with his doctorate -
Couple that with the fact it took me 3 weeks to figure out how to use a lottery scratch ticket that I received as a Christmas gift. This all happened by accident when I dropped a sharp object on the ticket, that consequentially scratched the ticket... (I didn't win).
oh - read the "Airborne Warning" that I wrote for more of my famous applied intelligence :o)

I've ridden an elephant, a dog, a hippo, and stood on a crocodile (I wouldn't recommend that last one) and or course horses.
The elephant was when I was six weeks old. First time my parents took me to church, they saw a guy on the side of the road when they were on their way home and he had an elephant. They stopped and my dad paid the guy like two dollars to let him ride the elephant with me.
The hippo was at a little podunk circus in Belize, my sister and I both rode, and 'twas fun. My other sister though has never forgiven us cause we volunteered without asking permission from my dad and she stopped to ask and didn't get to go.

Well my grandfather was in the navy, his father worked for the maritime services board, his father was a sea captain, his father was a sea captain, his father was a sea captain and his father was a sea captain. I don't know how far it goes back before that. Together they charted the waters around sth australia when adelaide was first settled and were kind of a well known maritime family. There's a town down there named after them. (And my grandfathers uncle (born last century) was also a sea captain, who only died a couple of years ago.

I worked as a shoeshiner in the streets of Wellington, NZ wearing top hat and tails (and jeans and a t-shirt) used to make around $50 a day! Was in the newspaper and interviewed on TV as well!!! :) Only did it for about two months then it got too cold so I did something else! :)

I have four kittens living in the bottom of my wardrobe.... :)
Then I'm allergic to your wardrobe, and your whole house.
I was almost run over by a train as a baby (seconds to spare).
I almost fell out of a fast moving car as a small child (caught by the tip of my fingers).

A Day to remember...
Dec. 6th 1973 My Older Brother Cut the Tip of My Middle Finger on my Right Hand off. I was 7months old and my Mom says all I did was laugh as the blood was squirting everywhere.
Dec. 6th, 1992 I gave my life to my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Haven't been the same since.
Dec. 6th, 1993 I was FORCED into a Head On collision that should have ended my life...
...and I was afraid of Dec. 6th for a few years after that taking the day off from work and staying home...not anymore

I was into Championship Truck Pulling for 7 years. I won the East Coast points series in 1997 beating out 20 of the best trucks in the East.
My truck was a Modified 4wd Chevy S-10 with a 1200 HP, 640 Cubic Inch Chevy/Pontiac Pro-stock motor on alcohol.
Here she is:
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/scooterl/hogatangle.jpg
I changed the name in '98 to Delicate Sound Of Thunder....named after the Pink Floyd album.... :)
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/scooterl/hogside.jpg
Sold the truck in 2001 after my divorce.....needed to regroup and concentrate on my writing career.
However, I am headed back to the sport I love. I'm going to build one of these Unlimited Modified Tractors.....
Tractor carries one Curtiss Wright 3350 Radial aircraft engine, 3350 Cubic Inches, 18 cylinders, 9000 Ft-lbs of torque. There is only 120 of these engines left in the world-taken out of service in the 50's but still used in forest fire planes.... I know where they are.... :D
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/scooterl/RoudeLeiw.jpg
9000 lbs of Torque, she'll run with 4 Supercharged Chevy's or Hemi's anyday...
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/scooterl/P1010028roudeleiw.jpg
The building process set to begin the fall of this year....its going to be called Aces High. Named after all the fallen ACES who gave their life for aviation or our various wars. Plus the Iron Maiden song..... :D

Ahahahahahaha....that is funny...because, when I was studying the Roman empire, I read that there were mosaics on the floors of villa's that said "Cave Canum," but it was probably not intended to mean "Beware of the dog...he is trained to attack," but, "the dog is laying on the floor and he is not going to move when you walk in, so don't trip over him."
Yeah! Nerds rule! And you must be, to have started college at age 13! That is cool! I am a nerd, too...all of my friends even tell me that(in a nice way...not making fun of me). I take it as a compliment!

Way back when "Saturday Night Wrestling" was on Monday at the old Northside Coliseium in "Cowtown", Fort Worth, one of the "bad guys" got a little mouthy one night and challenged anybody in the audience to take him on in an arm wrestling match in the ring.
My father answered the challenge.
The last words my grandmother spoke to him before he got in the ring was "don't hurt him too much Charley".
The guy got mad because my father was beating him, jumped up from the table and left the ring. I guess since the match was never finished, nobody really won. I'm sure my father had his 15 minutes that night in the ring.

I was on the front page of the paper on the first day of school when I started Kindergarten.
My mom, brother, and I just happened to walk through the door when the photographer was taking a picture. My school was opening for the first time, so it was a big deal. That's why it was on the front page. A brand new student, in a brand new school.

I will try to explain this as clearly as possible, but if you get confused please let me know. It makes sense to me, but I'm sure it won't to you. :p
When I chew, I divide my food up equally on both sides of my mouth. If I don't chew the same amount of food on both sides of my mouth, it drives me crazy. I will give you some examples:
1.)When I eat french fries, I try get two fries that are the same size and I will put one on each side of my mouth and chew it. If I can't find any fries that are the same size, I will bite off the extra length of the longer one, divide that extra piece in two equal parts, chew it, then I will chew my two fries, that are now the same size, one on each side of my mouth.
2.)When I eat something in pieces, like Cheerios, I will chew an equal number of Cheerio pieces on each side of my mouth. It's easy when I have a even number, like 6. I'll just divide it into two parts with three pieces each, and then I'm good. If I have an odd number, then I keep track of which side has chewed the extra piece, and I'll try to balance it out in my next bite.
As long as it's all even, then I'm good. If it's not, then it bugs the fire outta' me. I have problems, I know.;) :p I've got more quirky stuff I can tell you about, but I think this is enough to process for now. I'll let your brains chew on this a while (haha, chew. Little joke.:p ), and then I'll come back later and post more insanity. :p

Okay another quirk. This one has to do with dividing as well.
I divide letters into equal groups in my head. Like whenever I read something or somebody says something, I divide all the letters in the words into equal groups. For instance, if there are 12 letters, I will divide it into 2 groups of 6, 6 groups of 2, 3 groups of 4, and so forth. I think you get the picture. If the letters can't be divided equally at all, then I will divide them into two groups, one group having one extra letter.
When I first started doing it, about 6 years ago, it really bothered me. It's mostly subconscious, and when it first started happening, it was so bad that it would distract me, and I couldn't think. But I couldn't turn it off either, so there was nothing I could do about it. It's gotten better, now. I don't do it as much, and I have better control over it, so it doesn't distract me.

I mentioned this in the Loon thread, and I thought I would put it here.
I have uber-sensitive eyes. Just somebody mentioning tears or anything of that nature, sets my eyes to burning and watering. It's happening while I'm typing this.
What's really bad is when a commercial for eye drops comes on. Not only do I hear them talking about it, but I've got the visuals, too. The worst is if I ever watch someone putting contacts on. I was watching my mom once, and it literally looked like I was crying, because my eyes were watering so much.
Okay, I need to quit talking about this. Time to think about something else. :p

Also, I let another xray student pierce my ears. Talk about pain. I learned not to do that again.

I believe the perfect amount of toilet paper is 8 sheets, because it folds evenly. 8 folded in half becomes 4, 4 in half is 2, and 2 in half is 1. So, when I'm done folding I have this nice little square. If you get anymore it doesn't fold evenly, which bugs the fire outta me. Unless you go up to 16 sheets, but that's just way too much. ;)

Here's another eating quirk...
If you don't know, or even if you do, bananas naturally divide into 3 pieces, like three little triangles in a pie chart. So, when I eat bananas, I take a bite off, and then gently apply pressure to the piece of banana with my tongue, and the three pieces separate. Then I chew.
