When you were a kid what programs did your family watch?
If you are now are a parent, what programs do/did watch as a family?

As a kid: Hee Haw, Sonny and Cher, Dolly Parton Show, Brady Bunch, Partridge Family, Wonderful World of Disney, Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom, American Bandstand later as a teen Happy Days, Apple's Way, The Waltons
As a parent: Muppet Show, Touched by an Angel, Star Trek (NG), Gilligan's Island, The Waltons. My daughter is hooked on TV Land.
We only had one TV as a kid.
Now as a parent, we still only have 1 TV. My kids didn't have tv's in their rooms.

As a child, I can remember sitting down with the whole family to watch, Tom & Jerry (we would switch the television on to watch it and then switch it off again afterwards).
We never watched any 'soaps'. My mother also did not approve of Monty Python, she thought it was 'stupid'.
My father would have loved 'The Simpsons' if he was still alive. He also watched MASH and CHEERS, which I sometimes would sit and watch with him.
'Only Fools and Horses' was also a family 'sit down' favourite.
We never watched television on our own, and from the age of about fifteen I never watched television.
We would watch documentaries, mostly my mother would record them and we could watch them at our leisure later.
I have never owned a television of my own.

Jeopardy and This Old House are the two programs that I really remember watching with my parents, well, and Braves baseball. We didn't have TV for most of my childhood though, so, we didn't watch much, and now we mostly watch movies, Frasier, Cheers, or 7th Heaven and a few BBC comedies.

We also, growing up, watched all the shows that are considered by today's standards pretty tame. Green Acres, Hee Haw, Beverly Hillbillies, Lucy, Dukes Of Hazzard, Love Boat, Fantasy Island and so forth. One of my favorite shows growing up (and it was already in reruns when I discovered it) was Hogans Heroes.
Saturday morning was for cartoons like Bugs Bunny and such. I remember getting up early to watch the Jackson 5 cartoon and ending the morning watching Fat Albert.
Today, my wife and I have 3 TV's in one house. She knows I'm going to watch a sports event and I know she's going to watch all those home improvement shows on TLC and such. We've been watching M.A.S.H. the past few weeks and we're always watching Stargate and Stargate: Atlantis together. She had a hard time getting into the new Battlestar Galactica, but she's almost hooked on it now.
If we're home when there's one on, we rarely pass up one of the old B&W Perry Mason episodes. We used to watch all the Perry Mason movies (which are semi-regular on Hallmark), but we havent' seen many of them lately. Right now they're into the ones that were filmed after Raymond Burr passed on and they were trying to keep the movie series going with Hal Holbrook.
We're trying to find more on TV that we can watch together. ;) Since late last month we've been putting in DVD's of all the Garfield holiday specials and the Charlie Brown holiday specials.
Until they started adding programs we didn't really care for, we spent a lot of time watching TVLand. I wish they wou pick up Perry Mason and Hogans Heros again.

I can remember watching Gunsmoke with my parents, also, Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom. We watched the "Movie of the week", too, I recall.
Now, with my wife and girls, we like watching together shows such as CSI(all three of them); Numbers and Close To Home

I don't know about Texarakana, but here in the DFW area we used to have a couple of stations that spent Saturday afternoons showing nothing but western shows and movies. I was never a big western TV fan, but I have watched Bonanza and Gunsmoke and have enjoyed them.
Oh, add to the list, Mr. Ed, the Munsters and McHales Navy.

When you were a kid what programs did your family watch?Wow....some really great shows in the list. I can add All in the Family, Emergency, Laugh-In, Grizzly Adams, Adam-12. My parents used to like the murder mysteries......Columbo, McMillan and Wife, Ironsides, and the like.
If you are now are a parent, what programs do/did watch as a family? Our family hasn't watched a prime time TV show in 3 years or so, and this school year we have not allowed our daughter to watch TV during the week. My wife and I only watch Fox and local news, sports and movies, while our daugher watches a few Disney shows on the weekends.

We don't watch Thai tv - it's in Thai and we don't understand a lot of it and it's pretty silly mostly.. we watch movies, but it's getting more difficult to find ones that we all want to watch ...

Mork & Mindy, Family Matters, Step By Step, Full House were some that we watched when my daughter was younger. I remember watching a show on Friday nights back in 1968 called Name of The Game. We would all sit on the couch and eat popcorn. My husband loved the Andy Griffith show and my sister never missed an episode of I Love Lucy. Laugh In was also a favorite. My son now watches a lot of old classic cartoons on Boomerang/Cartoon Network and likes a show called Suite Life of Zack and Cody on Disney. We watched Gilmore Girls for several years. Great story line and dialogue.

The Brady Bunch and Partridge Family. Mom would make popcorn and kool-aid.
With my own kids we liked a lot of the shows already named. One cartoon that the kids and I watched everyday when they got home from school was Rocko's Modern Life. My son has it on video now.
And I loved School House Rock on Sat. mornings! I have all of them on dvd. Conjunction junction, what's your function....

I had forgotten about School House Rock. I see Disney is making a live action film of Underdog. Flintstones, Jetsons, Bugs Bunny, Pink Panther, Quick Draw McGraw, Huckelberry Hound, Magilla Gorilla, Secret Squirrel, Top Cat, Duck Dodgers and Yogi Bear were some good cartoons.

I used to watch Sing Along with Mitch with the family when I was little, and of course The Lawrence Welk show.
I think the only show that holds everyone's interest at our house these days is Mythbusters, and Good Eats. And Deadliest Catch when it's on.
