"Pioneer Meat Cutters Dress Deer For Needy"
The Pioneer Career and Technology Center in Shelby is holding its annual deer harvest project. It's aimed at hunters who bag a deer but do not want the meat. Instructor Bill Kucic and his students will process the meat at no charge and donate it to charity. Hunters can drop off deer at the meat processing department at Pioneer Monday through Friday before 2 p.m.

now, its nice that they are doing this for the needy... but...

This is a great idea! Seriously! I love venison (deer meat). Of course it doesn't taste like chicken... it tastes like venison, fiddle! I just had some awesome venison fajitas, consisting of marinated, grilled venison. Yummy!

Some people do not know how to "do" deer. You have to hang the deer only a short time (less than 3 days) after you shoot it. If you hang it longer it will taste "gamy". If processed right, it is as good as beef, IMO.

Ham is so full of fat and usually full of hormones. Most of the time it is injected with water and/or dye, too. Deer (venison) and elk are very lean, and make a healthy substitute to ham or beef.

Come on, sis... you gotta try it, now, don't ya?

(You are a good sport, and always have been, fiddlefool! ;))

fiddlefool: Is this a good time to mention that Kangaroo meat is used in Australia for pet food? I have a pack in the fridge now for my dog.

Just thought you should know. :p

Aaaa! Don't feed good Kangaroo meat to the dogs! Kangaroo is good eatin'!

Crocodile is very good, too. Makes a good stir fry meat...

ps. Bats aren't real tasty; grubs are ok (texture is a bit strange), bandicoot is ok if you like dark meat, and emu/cassowary (bird) is a red meat like beef which is quite tasty...
