Ok guys, here's how we'll do it:
1. I'll start out by posting a Star Wars trivia question, and you guys try to come up with the right answer.
2. If you get the answer right, you get to post another question!
3. If someone disagrees with your "correct" answer, then you've gotta be prepared to prove it and back it up with an example from the movies or original novels. (see list below)
Make sense?
Official Resource List:
Any of the original movies
Any original novelization of the 6 Movies
Any of the Star Wars "Visual Dictionaries" or "Incredible Cross Sections"
"The Complete Unauthorized Star Wars Trivia Challenge"
Star Wars Encyclopedia
"The Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels"
"The Essential Guide to Characters"
"The Essential Guide to Weapons and Technology"
"The Essential Guide to Planets and Moons"
"A Guide to the Star Wars Universe"
*Any of the other books/novels that take place before or between the trilogies or after Return of the Jedi don't count, cause they are not entirely based on George Lucas's original stories; Examples would be; 'Shadows of the Empire', 'Jedi Academy', 'X-Wing Series', 'Thrawn Trilogy' etc.
Ok, now after all of that, here's the first question!
1st question: What do the letters "TIE" stand for in "TIE Fighters"

1st question: What do the letters "TIE" stand for in "TIE Fighters"

Next question:

this is for all you guys that read the books. i don't know if this question is legit, but whatever.
what was the name of Qui-Gon's "wife"? (not really a wife... but person he REALLY was crushing on. lol ... this is from pre-episode i books)
jedi_amy
11-18-2005, 05:31 PM
right on!
I'm not sure of the name of the person he had a crush on....how about let's just stick to the original movies and novels. The expanded universe of books just opens the door wide and makes the trivia way too hard.
Can you think of another question?
jedi_amy
11-18-2005, 05:33 PM
oh, BTW- I think her name is Laina Leopold
And I forgot to mention that the official Star Wars website is an acceptable resource! ooops!

Man, a question I could've got right.
By the way, Gunray was named after Reagan.
Glennjamin
11-18-2005, 08:15 PM
Beat me to it, Mitcho. After the Reagan crowd nicknamed their missile defense system "Star Wars", Lucas couldn't resist the chance to put a Reagan reference (however obliquely) into the prequels... :p

*thinks*
Ok, I got one for ya. What was the original line that was spoken to Mark Hamill on the set of "The Empire Strikes Back," during the scene where Luke has just had his arm cut off and is getting ready to jump down the air shaft?
ChristinChic788
11-18-2005, 11:13 PM
"Obi-Wan killed your father"
At the end of Episode IV A New Hope, Luke comes back after destroying the Death Star. When he greets Princess Leia, what does he really say?

Nope! a good guess, though.

lol!
Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention that the Internet Movie Database (IMDB.com) is a valid reference if you wanna check somehing out.
So here's the answer to the question about the spoken line: The whole idea of the audience/public finding out who Luke's father was was SO secret that George Lucas originally put in a fake line in the script, which was to be spoken by Darth Vader to Mark Hamill. The line in the script (and the one spoken on set) said "Obi-Wan is your father." James Earl Jones later dubbed in the correct line, saying "Luke, I am your father."

I cannot think of any character that calls them robots in all six movies, besides George Lucas.
ObiShawn
11-19-2005, 12:07 AM
It was Luke in A New Hope, in the scene where he and Obi-Wan discover the ambushed Jawas. His line is, "If they traced the robots here, they may have learned who they sold them to. And that would lead the m back . . home!"
How about this one: What did Lando say was the price a person pays for beign successfull?

yeah, in the original version of the movie "THe Empire Strikes Back" (which was what I was referring to) Clive Revill played the Emperor. He was the voice and also appeared on the hologram. In "Return of the Jedi" Ian McDiramid replaces Revill as the Emperor. When they went back and re-did "The Empire Strikes Back" they replaced Revill with McDiramid.
so there....I hope that clears up any confusion.

I would be talking about the jedi starfighters, but they have a specific name. example would be, the ship obi-wan flies in episode 2 is called a delta-7 aethersprite. that help?

Where did the name "Wookiee" originate?
Mac?!? Where?!?
11-21-2005, 11:48 PM
yea, you're right, but i was looking for a more specific answer. eta-2 will work though. for those who care, it's called an Eta-2 Actis,as opposed to the Delta-7 Aethersprite.
hmmm, got me stumped though on the wookiee question...

If I'm right, my question is:
Where did the name "Wookiee" originate?
yeah, i think you're right
the name Wookiee came from a reference to the movie THX-1138, which was directed by George Lucas. A guy who was doing some voice-over work for the movie THX-1138, made some type of a blunder and then muttered "I think I ran over a wookiee back there!" George asked him what he meant and where he'd come up with that word, and the guy said "I don't know, I guess i just made it up!" George liked the word so much that he remembered it and used it later in Star Wars.

Name the six people who played Anakin/Darth Vader.
jedi_amy
11-22-2005, 03:09 AM
James Earl Jones-"the voice"
Sebastian Shaw- old Anakin in the last part of Return of the Jedi
David Prowse-the man in the Vader suit
Jake Lloyd- boy Anakin
Hayden Christensen-young Anakin/Darth
I think there's only five people that played him....unless you count the guy who taught the actors sword-fighting techniques with the lightsabers. His name was Bob Anderson. I think he "might" have stunt-doubled for Vader in a few scenes in Empre or Jedi, but I'm not sure.

David Prowse only portrayed Darth Vader completely for the first half of RotJ. In the second half of the movie, the character was played by Bob Anderson during the fight sequence.

Ok I have a fact but no question cause my star wars triva is non existent.
In one of the early movies there is a sequence when the storm troopers are running in to one of thier ships and one guy misjudged the endge of the ship and banged his head on the side of the ship as he ran in. In honour of this when Jango Fett is going in to his ship to escape from OB1 he does exactly the same thing (you need to watch the movie closely to see this).
Ok i'm backing out of this thread now.

A New Hope - Death Star Docking bay 327
The Empire Strikes Back - Cloud City landing platform 327
The Phantom Menace - Queen Amidala's ship = J-type 327 Nubian
Revenge of the Sith - the elevator Obi-wan is in (in Grevious' ship), wasn't it 3274 or something like that?

The 4th "327" is in TPM, at the beginningn of the pod race, the announcer says, "the mighty Dud Bolt with that mighty racing machine, the Vulptureen 327."

Being such a Star Wars person, I can't believe I'm saying this, but I have NO idea what a Sun Crusher is!

The Sun Crusher's armor was made up of quantom (shifted quatom if you want to get technical) but I think you've stumped me on the bonus question. For the sake of a guess, I'll say The Maw.
... nice question

I don't remember the exact name of the armor, but it was quantom something or other...

ObiShawn
11-22-2005, 02:21 PM
give the next line exacly as it is in the movie:
Vader: "Obi-wan never told you what happened to your father . . . "
Luke: "He told me enough . . . he told me you killed him!"
Vader:___________________ _________________________ ___!
Mac?!? Where?!?
11-22-2005, 02:23 PM

Nope, Luke's name isn't in the line at all. A lot of poeple misquote Vader with this line by usually saying, "Luke, I am your father!"
The correct line is, "No! I am your father!"
Go ahead and ask the next question.

As for the question about who ws sitting next to Luke, I thought you might have replied with, "No, the guy on the otehr side!" It's a nice little joke to play on some one. a trick question.

I haven't the foggiest. Now if you mean Christopher Lee, he was like 79 or something like that. 10 days older than God . . . Just kiddin, I really don't know Dooku's age.
As for the question about who ws sitting next to Luke, I thought you might have replied with, "No, the guy on the otehr side!" It's a nice little joke to play on some one. a trick question.
Good job with the Hoth question. Most people I ask that didn't realize that there were other planets in the system.
thanks for the advice, and the compliment. as for my question, no i didn't mean christopher lee. count dooku, according to revenge of the sith was 83... and still kicking. you can ask the next question.

Q: What grey substance was used to freeze objects in 'Cloud City'?
Mac?!? Where?!?
11-25-2005, 04:29 PM
carbon, unless you meant what do they use to make the carbon, then that would be tibanna gas that is mined from cloud city
what is the color of the drink that padme serves anakin in episode 2 when he comes back from killing the tuskan raiders?

Carbonite, I believe.
<By the way, I was unable to get one question right from the previous bit of the thread. I really need to watch the movies.>

carbonite is the finished product, carbon is what is used. what han is put in is called the carbon freezing chamber, but the stuff that comes out is carbonite.

It is blue milk, a reference to the blue milk Beru served Luke and Owen in ANH.
Who does Vader lightly force choke in the Carbon Freeze chamber?

I don't know this one, I can only assume it has something to do with her being the only female . . . but that isn't an attempt at an answer. Some one else may actually know.

Alright, I'll give you a hint: You can find the answer somewhere on the official Star Wars website. (It's not that great of a hint though) :-)

He actually yells "Carrie!" at Carrie Fisher instead of saying "Leia!"
Just to go back to this, found it mentioned on the "Urban Legends" section of the official site... the sound editors think the line is "hey" or "yay", but is easily garbled in the other background noise... see the page here... http://www.starwars.com/episode-iv/bts/article/f20000530/indexp3.html
Ok new question When shooting began for Episode IV, what did Carrie Fisher say she was referred to on set?
"The girl".
Um... a question...
What is the Huttese word for "mind-trick"?
ChristinChic788
11-28-2005, 12:29 PM
Ok, I don't know where to find that, and I don't have time to watch the movie and find it. lol So you get to ask another question.
Mac?!? Where?!?

if i'm not wrong, when jabba the hutt uses the word, he actually says "jeedai mind trick." is there no such thing as the equivalent of mind trick in huttese?

The Huttese for "mind-trick"?
It's.... "mind trick".
Like many languages, Huttese "borrows" words from foreign languages, like we now use "tsunami" and "karate" in English and Japanese now has "hanbaagaa" (hamburger) and "chiizu" (cheese)...
So in Ep VI, Jabba uses the words "Jedi mind trick" in the middle of a line. :p
I've got to think of another question?
Um...
In the films, what language are the Jawas actually speaking?
Mac?!? Where?!?
11-28-2005, 02:32 PM
they're speaking jawaese aren't they?
