They used different things to make engines sound unique... I can't recall any off-hand... I know they used an electric razor inside a metal salad bowl for one engine type, but I think that was the military ships.

I do know the crowd sound effects were recorded live at a 49ers game.

Well, it was just a guess. Contrary to what most people say, I think he did a good job as Anakin.
