View Full Version : School Shooting
This stuff is weird. Being an assistant principal dealing with discipline, this really hit home for me. I am not sure why the guy selected the AP but I can only imagine. Here is a link to one of the stories. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051109/ap_on_re_us/school_shooting

Yeah really weird... I don't know why kids think they can do this kind of stuff - maybe it's tv, maybe it's just life - dunno :(

Maybe it's a despearte cry for help from the youth of America. Maybe todays adolescents are crying out.

I don't think so. I don't blame anyone but this kid. Lot's of kids grow up on the other side of the tracks, but they don't kill innocent people for it. This kid had it a lot better than most of the 15 year olds in the world... for at least he was getting an education... millions of 15 year olds in the world don't even get that. I think this sort of thing happens because selfishness and disregard for others is acceptable behavior these days. It is the mentality that if someone gets in your way, makes you mad, or looks at you funny you have the right to terminate them. I hope they throw the book at this punk... or better yet, give him a good, solid, bare-bottom beating with a belt -- and then throw the book at him.

in less than six months I will have a degree in the criminal justice, so i guess it's fitting (in a way) that I put my two cents worth in on this subject. the problem goes back to the parents. they are not punishing their children like they should. in Proverbs it says spare the rod spoil the child. But at the same time it's not completely the parents fault that they are not "wooping" their kids. the government says that if you "woop" you child then you are abusing them. if you are abusing them then you go to jail. some are afraid to discipline their child in fear of losing their child. But at the same time its time that the parents make a stand and tell the government that in a way they are the reason our kids act as they do. the gov't gives the kids a "loop hole" so to speak. But then again it's not telling what this kid was in or with whom. I truly believe that possession still goes on to day. if the devil can't get to the family through mom and pop he'll go through the kids....just something to think about...got to go back to class

I never understand this stuff. I really don't know why this stuff happens. It seems like people always see the signs after its too late. I don't get it. School's used to be a place to learn and you felt safe. Now we always have to worry about someone coming in with a gun. There was just an article this week in my college newspaper about safety on campus. They talked about the university police confiscating(sp?) guns and stuff like that out of someones car, and just last month a 18yr old got charged with assault of another student right next door to my friends dorm
Did you older adults(I'm 21. so people out of college) have to deal with this type of stuff in school

Good point... I'm not letting the parents (or even teachers and lawgivers) completely off the hook. However, I knew what I was doing when I was 15. I knew that if I shot someone (yes, I owned firearms and went through a gun safety course at that age) that it would mean I would go to jail and my life would be ruined. I didn't have the easiest childhood, either -- nor was my family very functional (my parents had problems and divorced). I didn't go out and shoot my classmates or teachers, though. I did have one HUGE advantage: I dedicated my life to Christ before 15.
What we are looking at is Cain all over again. Cain might have murdered Able at 15, for all we know. It is fallen human nature, but the kid needs to be punished for it, regardless... just like Cain. God didn't blame Cain's parents.

kh294God (sorry, I don't know your name) I just want to challenge you to find this verse.
"Discipline your children, and they will give you happiness and peace of mind."
Proverbs 29:17
"A wise child accepts a parent's discipline; a young mocker refuses to listen."
Prov. 13:1
"To discipline and reprimand a child produces wisdom, but a mother is disgraced by an undisciplined child."
Prov. 29:15
"Don't fail to correct your children. They won't die if you spank them. Physical discipline may well save them from death."
Prov. 23:13-14
These are close... Hope I didn't spoil your fun... :p

i don't know about you but.....i could be wrong :)
Unfortunately I have seen kids start at young ages display a lack of respect for life....it isn't valued at home...they are exposed to so much violence, sex, and degradation....A couple of years ago a colleague of mine, who teaches first grade, found a loaded gun in a child's backpack...kid got a hold of it from home and brought it to "show his friends"...some of the kids said he was mad at another kid....parents were mad at the child for taking the gun...
