I wasn't aware that she announced that, but it doesn't surprise me. I, too, will be able to vote in the next election, but I don't think that she will get my support. A lot of people think that since Mr. & Mrs. Bill Clinton are from around here that we all love them. It's actually the opposite for most people. I think Arkansas is mostly republican so she might not get our votes electorally, but you never know.

For those considering moving...
May I suggest Australia!
Australia doesn't have a two-party system. There is a multiparty system. Three main political parties have most of the votes... but you can always vote for "Independent" candidates. :D
Oh, and you don't directly vote for the PM, so you can't have (like in America) a government that's one party's majority, while the country's leader is from the minority party.
And for those of you who find Australia too far... may I suggest... New Zealand? :p

Everyone's vote counts in Australia... cos we all have to vote once we're 18. Yup, compulsory voting, resulting in 99% voter turnouts. Show up, get your name ticked off, and put a piece of paper in the box... some people just do that without marking it... that's called a "donkey vote"... :D

You may not have liked Bill Clinton but a lot of other people did. He is one of the most popular presidents in history. Like it or not, Hillary is also very popular. Based on what I know of her, I can't ever see myself voting for her. But people really do like her. She could prove to be a big challenge for the Republicans to beat. Bush's approval rating is the lowest it's ever been, and I think its the lowest for a sitting president that we have seen in a long time. If the Republicans were smart they would nominate someone who had absolutely, or as little as possible connection to Bush. That might mean John McCain.
However, I think there is a possibility that she may not even get the nomination by the Dems. They are going to be very careful who they pick. Hillary is something of a lighning rod. Its going to be interesting.

At least we don't get what I saw last time I was in the States... (which happened to be election time) Lots of people voting under multiple variations on their own name... voting with their pets' names... apparently even Captain James Tiberius Kirk had his say in the 96 elections :p
Those who feel "compelled" to vote just turn up, get their name marked off... and their vote is then not counted... just like people in the States who choose not to vote. It's five minutes out of their day on their way to the mall.
By being overseas at the moment I'm actually exempt from voting, and as I don't know enough about the current situation, I don't vote ;). But I will as soon as there's an election when I'm home. If you're not hospitalised, out of state, overseas, or in jail on election day, and you didn't vote, you get a fine in the mail... about $100 I think.

Point one: I would prefer death to knowing that I had in any way helped that "woman" take control of our white house.
Point two: I still say that the republicans should run Condaleeza (spelling?) Rice against her if she runs....it eliminates the sexist deal, she'd have most of the african-american vote, and I think she'd do a good job. (yes I know, never gonna happen, but, I still wish, just like I would REALLY love to see Collin Powell in office)

Yea I don't think Hillary should have ran after what happened with her husband. I even said that myself when I heard that she was running I not voteing for her. I know that is being judgemental because of what her husband did and sadly I voted for him but didn't know that things whould turn out the way they did of course if I knew then I would have never voted for Clinton. I was so glad when Bush ran I voted for him both times. We needed a president that worships God and we still need one.

I highly disagree that she would automatically get most of the African-American vote. Actually, I think Hillary would do much better among African-Americans. I think a lot of African-Americans would associate Rice with Bush, and most African-Americans don't really like Bush. When Kanye West spoke out against Bush he was reflecting the attitude of a good portion of the African-American community. On the other hand, Hillary is very popular among African-Americans, as was her husband.

Actually she has been denying it for years, even though sources close to her have been saying that she is thinking seriously about running. Why would she have been saying that for the last few years? She's been a New York Senator for the last few years. She wants her constituents to think she is focused on the job of senator. The truth is, she probably will run. That doesn't mean that she will get the Democratic party nomination, but she most likely will run.

I was actually at a table full of fairly moderate women where I was in the minority in thinking she would not get many votes. One of their lines of reasoning, though, was that she would get "bonus points" for being a woman. *shrugs*

Interesting discussion I've stumbled upon. I've a few comments.
First, regarding the anti-Christ: I've no idea which president will allow It into the US. I do know, however, that it won't be a Christian president, and we won't realize it (plus, we won't be here to realize it). Remember, the anti-Christ will be loved by all but a faithful few.
Second, Hillary doesn't stand much of a chance if either party puts forth a strong male candidate. There's a lot of sexist guys out there in the woodwork who won't allow a woman to be president. If someone can properly motivate them (think along these lines: There's a woman who wants to be president so she can take your guns, beer, and freedom), they'll be the next massive force. Plus, there are many who feel a woman can't make a very good president. Hear me out on this:
A president has to put the country first. Before his own family, even. Men have been asked to do that for centuries (military, political service, emergency services: put yourselves out to protect many, sacrificing time with your own family). However, what kind of woman can do that? What kind of woman could she be?
My personal opinion is that line of thinking is pure bull, that a woman can be president and do a good job. But it depends on the person.
As for Hillary? She'll never have my vote.

This is a great board, I am learning alot...
*The EU (of which I am happily a member) is the last Babylon
*France will blame the US for the riots
and now I find out that Hilary Clinton is the anti-christ!
I have been enlightened.

My friend from church was just deployed to Iraq this last week. Im sure he is going because it is a lost cause and pointless.
If I hear one more person say, "Support the Troops! Bring them home!" I will... ...I want everyone home safely as soon as possible, don't get me wrong...Many of the soldiers believe in what they are doing over there....some actually...GO BACK...for another tour...voluntarily...in fact, my brother volunteered to go over there both times...I know some joined for the benefits of working for the military and didn't even begin to think they would be sent anywhere...Don't sign up for a commitment you can't or don't want to fulfill....reminds of the married couples who divorce because "this isn't what I thought it would be"...
[QUOTE=MalletKAT_Gomer]We could be out of there in under a year if we would, oh my goodness, use some force over there. Much of the first half of the war was spent in diplomacy so that a mosque wouldn't get blown up in places like Fallujah. If they had just destroyed the place, I'm pretty sure we wouldn't have the same problems we're having now./QUOTE]
That's the kicker...how much force do you use? How far can you go?

Point one: I would prefer death to knowing that I had in any way helped that "woman" take control of our white house.
Point two: I still say that the republicans should run Condaleeza (spelling?) Rice against her if she runs....it eliminates the sexist deal, she'd have most of the african-american vote, and I think she'd do a good job. (yes I know, never gonna happen, but, I still wish, just like I would REALLY love to see Collin Powell in office)
Point Three: I've said it before, and I'll say it again: If they candidates for '08 are no good, I'm campaigning for either Mac or Mark (probably Mark) for president.
thats extremely sexist

Yea I don't think Hillary should have ran after what happened with her husband. I even said that myself when I heard that she was running I not voteing for her. I know that is being judgemental because of what her husband did and sadly I voted for him but didn't know that things whould turn out the way they did of course if I knew then I would have never voted for Clinton. I was so glad when Bush ran I voted for him both times. We needed a president that worships God and we still need one.
He cheated on his wife. Before that everyone was happy with the man. what he did does not concern me that's his family's issues.

I also in my opinion dont think the being a president is a woman's job anyway but it would be interesting to see
why not?

Not everyone was happy with him before that...How a man treats his family is of concern to me if his actions/decisions affect me in any way....

My dad's family are all strong democrats and my mom's family are all republicans for the most part. Now my dad is not strictly a democrat and my mom isn't strictly a republican, but they tend to stick with the parties of their families. Therefore, some debates have taken place in my house. I get to hear all different kinda of opinions.
I remember being very liberal as a teen. My parents were conservative. The older I get and the closer to God I become the more conservative I get...I consider myself conservative now....funny thing is my mom is now more liberal than I am...or should I say less conservative? ;)

i agree that more force should be used. arabs respond to force, not diplomacy, which why ever arab ruler rules with an iron fist. though i dont think democracy will work in the islamic world, it would be foolish to bring the troops home without finishing what they started

MMMMmmmmm a quick lesson in American politics... I still don't really understand it all though.....
If the antichrist came into control then wouldn't that eventually be good? cos it would mean all the other stuff could happen too??? As I observe this world getting worse and worse and weird stuff happneing with the weather and wars and earthquakes - it freaks me out but it's kinda exciting too isn't it????
Anyway, that's just what I think... :)

I often wonder whether people miss the point of Jesus saying that wars, rumors of wars, earthquakes, etc. do not mean that the end has come...
As for the Antichrist's rise being a good thing, far from it. It is a necessary thing at some point, but nothing about it is good - it's an abomination, and not a time to look forward to. God will make good come of it, but it's certainly not something we should want to accelerate the occurrence of. (That said, I don't think Mrs. Clinton is anywhere near the level of the Antichrist. She'd be a terrible President, but she doesn't signify the end of the world. She's much more petty than that.)

I don't disagree with you...I exaggerate a bit...but while I am not glad for the suffering of people when the Antichrist comes, I do believe in the pre-trib rapture and I do anticipate that with joy......

I don't think it will be a 'good' thing, but won't the end of all things as we know it be good? Won't being with the Lord forever be good?
As a total outsider veiwing American politics.... um even most politics.... even so called good rulers tend to be manipulated by outside people - who tells the rulers what to do? They still have agendas that need meeting... I don't know if Hilary Clinton will be good or bad for America - I don't know if George Bush is good or bad for America - I don't know if Arnold Swarzneger would be good or bad for America - so maybe I will stay out of these threads from now on...... sorry for my silly comments.... oh and I'm not upset, just being a bit sensible and choosing to bow out before I get myself into trouble...
bless you all, love you all,
bbbbyyyyyyeeeeeeee :D :D :D
You are spot on, Sharon...My brother was asked to enter politics several times but declined...from what he has seen, and from what many of us suspect, a certain amount of value compromising is necessary to "succeed"...and he didn't want to go near that...we have human rulers who are elected by people...in many countries...but thankfully we all have one King who never fails... :D

I really don't think she will win if she runs.
I can't see very many Republicans voting for her, regardless of their sex.
I think she will lose many votes from southern dyed-in-the-wool male democrats.
I think a fair number of independents males won't vote for her.
I could be wrong though. Contrary to popular belief, it has happened before. :D

What makes you think that? What if God hadn't wanted a woman to be president until the next election? This comment really smacks of what people used to say about things like flying.

It is a rather silly argument - who's to say that God doesn't want something in His own timing, which just might be now (or in the future) for the first time?
There are other arguments that could be made concerning the Scriptural place of authority given to men or women, etc. but the "it hasn't happened yet" argument isn't particularly convincing. Personally, I would much prefer that Mrs. Clinton not be elected, since I disagree with most of her views, and I don't think she'd be a good leader. But, God's will shall certainly be done. I just pray that He grants grace and mercy to our country, rather than judgement, whomever that may require being elected.

MMMmmmm, I'm not sure about having women as leaders of countries - our country New Zealand has a woman leader - I don't like much of what she does, but sadly there do not appear to be many good leaders in politics in our country at the moment....sad.... :(
